Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I am sharing the Double Wonder Technique. Using this sketch for a cutting pattern you can easily and quickly make a large stack of cards. What a fantastic way to showcase your favourite designer series paper! Let’s take a look.
Double Wonder Technique
The name Double Wonder is a bit of a spoof on One Sheet Wonder where you stamp an entire sheet of either 12 x 12 paper or 8 1/2″ by 11″ paper. You then cut this paper up into different sized strips and panels and make coordinating cards. With the Double Wonder Technique you use half sheets of 12 x 12 designer series paper. You can choose just two sheets, but I like a little more variety so I usually use three sheets. Here is the sketch provided by Julie Davison, a demonstrator from the USA.
Here you can see the easy directions for making these cards. I am going to be making a step by step pictorial tutorial guide as well, but that may be a little while. Gerard is coming on Thursday and as you well know, my focus will shift a little then!!
The Results of my Double Wonder Experience
I decided to take a picture of my Double Wonder cards. It always looks so impressive to see a large amount of coordinating cards!!

Stepping it up a Notch
You can make these cards even fancier by using embossing folders on your card base. I really do like how this one turned out. When the card was put together I thought there was just too much “vanilla”. I used one of the narrower embossing folders to emboss the card front and it turned out beautifully. What do you think?
A Few Sweet Talk Cards
Because it is Valentine’s Day today, I thought it would be fitting to make a few cards using the adorable Sweet Talk patterned paper. Here they are!
More “Double” Cards
I did a search of my blog for more Double Wonder cards, but I could not find any. Instead I found lots of other things involving the word “double”. Check out this link to be entertained!

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. I have a fantastic Double Point Card for you which I think is perfect for the What’s New at SU blog hop. We are a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrator from around the world who are Hoppin’ With Exciting Ideas to share with you. I am so happy you are joining us for this hop.
Today I am going to share a Pleased as Punch Double Point Card. When looking at my blog statistics I can see that many of you look up my double point card, so I thought it was time to do one using saleabration items. It’s hard to believe that saleabration is almost over! Be sure to get your freebies while they are still available. Pleased as Punch paper is also only available until March 31 as a saleabration coordination product.
Pleased As Punch Paper
Pleased as Punch paper is so pretty and cheerful but even better than that, it coordinates with FOUR punches and four stamp sets. I love it so much and I wish it would stay longer than just till the end of March. Honestly, I highly recommend that you get this paper so you can use it for your spring and Easter cards. Just creating with this paper will make it feel like spring in your home.
As you can see, this paper coordinates with the following punches and stamp sets:
Under My Umbrella bundle
Heartfelt bundle
Timeless Tulips bundle
Thoughtful Blooms stamp set and Small Bloom punch (both free saleabration items)
Double Point Card
I used the blushing bride gingham paper as the focal point for my double point card. At first my plan was to use the Under My Umbrella stamp set and punch but it turns out that the Timeless Tulips worked best. I chose to make a sympathy card with it even though the colours are bright and cheerful. Very fitting for a celebration of life don’t you think?
Here is the inside of the card. It’s not perfect because I was in a little bit of a rush (imagine that!). I could have lined up my folds a little better but no one really loves perfection, so I think it will be just fine. If you want all the specifics on how to make this type of fold, you can see one of my most popular blog posts here and you will have all the information you need.
Stitched Nested Labels
Many of you know that I recently spent seven weeks in Holland to be with my boyfriend Gerard. While there I still stamped and blogged every day and I became acutely aware of the things that I did not have in my stamp room there. One of the things I really missed were my stitched nested labels. They should be a staple in every stamp room and especially for this double point card. My favourite thing about them is that they can be easily removed from the die and the stitching is just so pretty.
Saleabration Coordination
Saleabration is a wonderful time of the stamping year; everyone loves getting free products to choose from. Stampin’Up! has made saleabration even more exciting by adding saleabration coordination items that make your free items even more versatile. We have both dies and paper to coordinate with so many saleabration products that make it super fun to create. Don’t miss out on the pretty Pleased as Punch paper and be sure to check out the birthday framelits, the Ladybug dies, Nature’s Thoughts dies, Sending Flowers dies and Special Day dies. To see these beauties, just click on this link.
Video Tutorial
I made this video on my old phone and I couldn’t get it to post in landscape mode, but it is better than nothing!

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I have a huge double Z-fold card for you. When I saw the sheet of peaceful poppies designer series paper with the big stems of poppies I knew I wanted to use this on a BIG card so that the flowers would remain intact. It’s a lot of fun making a big card.
Huge Double Z-Fold Card
Let’s take a look at this beauty. When it folds up it is six inches square, so that means you have to make your own envelope!
Here is another look when it is closed.
I just love how the patterned paper gets used to its full capacity here, I even used the patterned paper for the leaves and as the background for the focal point. The Peaceful Poppies paper really is terrific.
The saying in the inside of the card is from Inspiring Iris. You could also leave it blank and write your own personal note inside. Alternatively you could put a white panel on the back for a longer missive.
When A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
It’s story time. Last week two cousins came to visit me and one of them brought along some old photos. This was one of them. It is a great old photo of a children’s choir from my mom’s home town of Maasdijk. My mom and her sister are in the middle of the photo. You can find Adrie with the red mark (someone must have done that so that everyone would know which one she was) and the girl to the left of her is my mom Rina.
Imagine my surprise when I get a message from my uncle on Pap’s side of the family saying that he is also in this picture. Pap’s family is from Zeeland, a different province in Holland an hour’s drive away in this day and age. Back then it took longer to travel that distance, especially since Zeeland is an island. So what was Oom Stoffel doing in Maasdijk as part of the children’s choir?
How the War Brought Families Together
I immediately knew that this picture must have been taken during the war. Indeed, after some questioning, I found out that this picture was taken either in the fall of 1944 or spring of 1945. How amazing that in those dark days of war they still had a children’s choir!
Do you want to know why my uncle was in this picture? You see, all the people from Zeeland province were evacuated because the Germans flooded this island province to prevent a possible landing from the Allies. The Boot family came to live in Maasdijk and they met the Robbemond family at church.
The families became friends and that is how my Pap met my Mom. There is a five and a half year age gap between my mom and my Pap, so when they first met there was no romance. In fact, Pap was interested in Mom’s older sister! That never developed into anything, but it was years later when they finally “saw” each other and fell in love. My Oom Stoffel is the cutie in the bottom row, far right. Mom’s other sister Bep is in the second row, fifth from the left.
I remember my Pap telling me the story of how he walked to Maasdijk from Zeeland taking some animals with him. I can’t remember if it was cows or horses or some of each. He walked for three days to get there! Being here in Holland has been wonderful to meet more of my relatives and discover more of my own heritage. It is humbling to see how God works to weave the threads of our family history.

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday! Today I want to share with you a cool double stamping technique with Snow Front. This technique was a big hit yesterday at coffee and a card class and I showed how to do it during my weekly Facebook live video last night. I will include the link to the video at the end so you can see it too in case you missed it.
How to do double stamping
This technique is actually really simple and the best part is that you don’t need a lot of accuracy to make it look good. The secret is a white craft ink pad. For this card I first stamped the pond in pool party and then the trees in pretty peacock. The next step is VERY important. Be sure to clean your stamps thoroughly otherwise you will get coloured ink residue on your white craft ink pad. Ask me how I know! After the intense cleaning you can ink up your stamps in white craft ink and stamp over top of your trees and pond. If you offset your stamp just a wee bit that looks even nicer.
The result
The result from this simple technique is that your forest and pond look like they have been blanketed by freshly fallen snow. You can still see the colour peeking out but it looks very ethereal. There are ways to step it up a notch with some sparkle. One way is to stamp over the pond one more time with white craft ink and then sprinkle on some shimmer white embossing powder and heat set. You can also spread on some shimmery crystal effects and then add some ice stamping glitter. When your scene looks good you stamp your deer using the stamparatus so you can ink up several times and make your deer nice and bold.
The cards
The moon and the stars were stamped using our Delicata silvery shimmer ink pad. Those images come from the Waterfront stamp set which pairs very well with Snow Front. The saying is from the amazing host set Greatest Part of Christmas. Did you know that if you place a $200 order online you are also entitled to host benefits? You would get $20 in free merchandise and this set is only $18. Host sets are a fantastic deal because that one is worth $30 and is only available to people hosting a workshop or placing a $200 order.
Finding Joy in the Little Things
I was driving home from pickleball this morning and it had started to rain. After several beautiful days it was actually refreshing. There is something beautiful about wet pavement on tree lined streets. I actually did a u-turn so I could get some pictures to share with you. This is just two streets over from my house. It was raining and I was parked illegally so I snapped a few quick ones and one of the three was blurry but I still want to share it. You will see the potential I am sure! Another one is still on my phone that I forgot at my son’s place. Oh my….
Oma Duty
As a closing note, this blog post is super late because I had the lovely job of oma duty tonight. It was a crazy busy day with a fantastic Most Wonderful Time class this afternoon, a live video on my Elite group page, some finishing touches on my AIrbnb apartment above the garage and of course pickleball. Well…now it is time for bed but I didn’t miss a day of blogging! Truth be told this post was almost finished before noon but then life got in the way.
Thanks for dropping by, sleep well and don’t forget to count your blessings. Before I forget, here is the Facebook live video I did and you can see how I made one of these cards and two other ones as well.
Hello stampers. I think I just made up a new word here. “Splooshing”. What I mean is scrunching up a wet baby wipe (actually, half a baby wipe), dabbing it into an ink pad and then pressing it onto paper to make a background. So, to make this very striking card, I used sahara sand and smoky slate to make the background on a 3 3/4 by 5″ piece of whisper white cardstock. Then you ink up your Lovely as a Tree “treeline” image with Versamark and emboss with copper embossing powder. Repeat slightly lower and to the left with silver embossing powder. After that you can choose to add a ribbon or not. I used 1/8″ silver ribbon (132137)on one and vanilla 1/4″ satin ribbon (142794) on the other. I also did one without ribbon after getting lots of feedback on Facebook. Which one is your favourite?
There is a story behind this card. I received a beautiful Christmas card from one of my team members, Karen Gardner. This technique was used on her card and I immediately knew I would be using it to make my swap card for the Canadian Business Conference in Toronto. This is the first event of its kind for Canadian Stampin’Up! demonstrators and I am super excited about it. We used to have a Leadership Convention each year in January but it was discontinued, so Dale Hampshire decided to create this event. I signed up for two swaps, one with Lovely as a Tree and one with Touches of Texture. The other swap will be the focus of my next blog post. Here is the card without the ribbon:
The sentiment is stamped in black archival ink and comes from Rose Wonder. When I made these cards I was nervous about using so much copper foil! The stuff is not cheap. And it is beautiful. Those two facts usually lead to hoarding. Then I decided I could cut images from the part that wouldn’t show. Genius. Now I have a ton of dragonflies and bees. Large dragonflies, medium dragonflies and groups of dragonflies, all waiting to be incorporated into beautiful cards. Check it out:
I did create a video showing how to do this technique. It really is so very simple and the results are truly beautiful. Have fun with it.
Don’t forget to keep your Versamark pads juicy by reinking now and then, it is the secret to successful embossing. Secret number two is not swinging your heat gun back and forth but focusing on one spot at a time and slowly moving as the powder melts. Today this card is in honour of my team member Janis Taylor’s mom who died and went to heaven today at the beautiful age of 92.
