Hello stampers. We are in the middle of a heatwave, so it is perfect weather for being inside working in my stamp room. Yesterday we used the Springtime Impressions framelits at coffee and a card and the ladies especially loved that you can use them both as a stencil and as an embellishment. We had used only the “corner floral” framelit, but today I made a card using the butterfly and the little flower. I am so very pleased with how it turned out. The surprise element was using the Tranquil Textures sprinkles in a strip along the bottom of the front panel. Take a look. Can you guess how I did that?
Both the subtle designer series paper (which is on sale this month by the way, but three packs, get one free and you get to mix and match) and the sprinkles are from the Tranquil Textures Suite. Normally sprinkles like this would be used to make shaker cards, but I wanted to add a strip at the bottom of my card similar to the look of ribbon but with more texture. In the past I used a retired product called Sticky Strip to do this, but now I used our tear and tape and it worked great. I laid the card front in an empty stamp case with the tape already adhered and exposed and I poured on the sprinkles and pressed them down firmly. Voila! It worked perfectly and I really like the look of it. The butterfly, the mat and the sentiment are all in Blueberry Bushel. the card base is Soft Sea Foam. The saying is from the stamp set Enjoy Life.
This is an easel fold card, so simple to make and yet it looks very impressive. All it is is one extra score mark at the 2 3/4″ mark, then do a mountain fold. You then need a “bump” to hold it in place, so I used the flower framelit, put a gem in the middle hiding the mini dimensional underneath. There is a little surprise hiding behind the flower when you open the card!
I used the butterfly framelit from Springtime Impressions with acetate. In Stampin’Up! lingo this is a window sheet. This way I have a reusable stencil and I keep it in the case with the framelits so I don’t lose it. I sponged with soft sea foam. The next few cards use the floral framelit from this bundle.
I just love how big this framelit is! Makes it so easy to colour with sponge daubers. I used highland heather, so saffron, pear pizzazz, calypso coral and petal pink. In the next card you can see that you can see that all the parts were used. I used the “cut out” as a stencil and then I used the negative part and put it back on the card to cover up the sponging outside the lines.
I wanted to show you how it looks with or without the ribbon. Both are pretty don’t you think? The sentiment on the left is from Dandelion Wishes and the one on the right is from Wonderful Moments.
This card uses the actual cut out from Springtime Impressions paired with the subtle paper from Petal Promenade. I silver embossed the sentiment which is from the host set Very Vintage.
I wanted to see what would happen if I sponged the cut out with Versamark and then silver embossed. I didn’t want to be wasteful, so I wanted to use the negative image as well. I used spray adhesive so that it wouldn’t move around and I placed it on a smoky slate card. Then I used the direct to paper technique with Versamark and then I silver embossed both the card and the cut out.
I love the subtle simplicity and beauty of this card, perfect for a wedding. I wanted to see if I could double emboss, so on the next card which was totally embossed in silver first, I stamped the bride in versamark and then embossed with lovely lipstick embossing powder. It worked! And yes, we now have embossing powders in all the new in-colours, how awesome is that?
Well, I think I have given you lots of ideas with the Springtime Impressions framelits and I haven’t even used the matching stamp set (only because I don’t have it yet!!) Here is a simple video that I made so you can see how I made some of the cards featured in this blog post. As always, I love hearing from you, so please leave a comment below. If you live in Canada and would like to order from me, that would be fantastic of course. Please use the host code and then I will send you one of these cards in the mail.
Not sure why my watermark is on the host code, but it is a hot summer day and I am simply too lazy to go back and edit it out. I also figure that putting the host code in like this makes it more obvious than simply having it available for you in the sidebar. What do you think? Anyways, have a super day, stay cool and share the love today and send someone a card. Here is a screen shot of the paper that is on sale, remember you can always do a half pack if you want, just let me know.
