Hello stampers! I am finally inking up the Animal Outing stamp set that we received at OnStage in April. I was waiting for the paper sale to order the fun Animal Expedition paper so that I could play with them together and I also had to order the matching framelits. Well, what a wonderful trio that is! I am sure you could imagine my excitement when I realized that the framelits cut out some of the images from the paper. I  really think they should make a bigger deal about that. Are there any Harry Potter fans out there? Well, imagine the interactive newspaper with the moving pictures or even better, talking pictures! I picture opening the catalog to page 190 and hearing, “yay, the framelits cut out the hippo and the giraffe and the kangaroo and the frog on the branch!!! Whoohoooo.”  So yes, I am indeed wild about Animal Outing. There is even a saying in there that says “wild about you”. This would be great for a kid but also for that special person in your life! Take a look at what I did. Edited to add:  my team member Liz Fields whose nickname from her daughter is “Sloth” and therefore is up on all things sloth, pointed out that my sloth is upside down. Duh!!!! I knew that sloths hang upside down from trees! Look at my bird? He must be drunk on berries because he is upside down now. Too funny. I will have to fix this before my card class.

recessed panel card keeps the patterned paper from being too overwhelming and adds visual interest.

I love this bright and cheerful card in berry burst and call me clover. The recessed panel stops the patterned paper from being overwhelming and also adds visual interest. The card is made from thick whisper white cardstock over which I layered a 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ piece of patterned paper. The 1″ by 5 1/2″ and 2″ by 5 1/2″ strips of berry burst have an edge of call me clover for contrast. These panels are both popped up using dimensionals. The sloth is cut out with an oval framelit and mounted on a scalloped oval framelit also cut out from the Animal Expedition paper. This paper is part of the buy three get one free sale on till the end of July.

Let the framelits do all the work for this quick and easy card.

This card took me about five minutes to make. The shaded spruce layer is 3 3/4″ by 5″ and was embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder. The giraffe and the frog on the branch are both cut out with framelits and then pieced together again. I used the Stamparatus to stamp the words so that if they weren’t dark enough I could easily stamp again. If you haven’t used this amazing tool yet, check out this video from Stampin’Up.

Animal Outing combines with Tropical Chic for this fun card.

This last card combines the very fun and fresh Tropical Chic framelits with the Animal Outing stamp set and the Animal Expedition paper. The giraffe and the frog on the branch were stamped and cut out with framelits and the hippo is cut from the paper with a framelit. the foliage framelit is amazing and is from the Tropical Chic suite. I didn’t even need a precision plate and the pieces fell right out, so this one is a real pleasure to use.

As you know, there is an amazing deal on right now with the starter kit. You can get ten free ink pads with the purchase of this kit. You pay only $135, but you get to choose $165 worth of product and you get the ink pads. Wow!!! Yes, you can do this even if you have no plans to ever sell a thing. No guilt either. Stampin’Up! is well aware of all the different motivations to buy their kit and the truth is that most of the successful demonstrators had no plans to sell either. So I say, go for it. Spoil yourself and get an amazing deal on beautiful products. If you live in Canada, I would LOVE to have you join my team. I still need team members from Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. All other provinces are represented but I’ll still welcome you if you are from the West! This will be the last blog post for probably two weeks. Tomorrow evening I go to Detroit as I fly out very early Friday morning to go to Seattle and then on a cruise to Alaska. Thanks to all of you who made that possible, my heart is full of gratitude. My son Oliver is coming with me and he will be celebrating his 22nd birthday while we’re gone, so that makes it even more special. When I signed up as a demonstrator in the fall of 2005 I had no idea that this would be such a successful and rewarding journey for me. You just never know where that first box of products will take you. My upline also quit after my first year so for almost all of my Stampin’Up journey I have had no team support, no upline, no monthly meetings or anything like that. All you need is a dream and then a vision and hard work but fun work to make it happen. I am looking forward to the next adventures in this stamping journey.
