Hello stampers. How ironic that I am creating with Pocketful of Sunshine and Daisies today! Not much sun to be seen here in Chatham, Ontario today. I think it is the coldest and wettest spring ever. I realize that I sound old when I say that. Old people tend to talk of weather in bygone days!! Apparently my need of sunshine and fun brought me to remember that I have not yet inked up Pocketful of Sunshine. Why ever not?!! It is the most adorable set and it comes with coordinating dies as well. Sadly it is retiring but the dies are not. There will be another fun stamp set to go with the dies but I am going to be so bold and tell you that you really do need this one. Why? Mainly because of the stitching. There are two stamps in this set that give stitched detail to the pocket. So, so cute. There are also great words in this set. It really is a must have for cards for all ages and genders. Let’s take a look.
I made these cards for coffee and a card class. They are a lot of fun and not too difficult to make. I love how you can fill the pocket with fun things. You can add fake money (there is a stamp for that) but I think your recipient will be much happier with the real deal. The sunglasses come in the stamp set. I simply stamped them in versamark on bright cardstock (pumpkin pie and granny apple green) and then cut them with the matching die and the Big Shot. Just in case you are reading this and don’t understand the foreign language of Stampin’Up! a Big Shot is a die cutting and embossing machine. Really a fantastic tool to have in your repertoire.
There is a die that cuts out the rays of the sun, and it is super cute, but I thought it would just be easier to emboss the rays right onto the wood textures paper. I used pineapple punch embossing powder which is part of a collection of in colour embossing powders, also retiring, so get it while you can!! Don’t you just love the realistic looking tab on the pocket? Do you also see what I mean with the stitched detail on the pocket? It really is a must have.
There is a reason I don’t wear white very often. It is almost inevitable that at the end of the day I will have spilled on it. It is no different with my white paper pocket. Somehow I managed to get a smudge of yellow on it, but I am keeping it real for all the world to see! Doesn’t this Pocketful of Sunshine go perfectly with Lemon Zest? Both of these great sets are retiring, so get them while you can. There is also a punch to go with the lemons. I love how the tea bag fits so nicely into the pocket. The leaves were stamped with lemon lime twist, also a beautiful colour that is retiring. Make sure you have enough ink, cardstock and paper to keep you going for a while. The lemons were stamped with so saffron which surprised me. I first chose daffodil delight but it was too intense.
I don’t often combine crumb cake and smoky slate but I really like how it looks on this card. The pocket has both real money and stamped money and a cool pair of shades. Do you see the sentiment? That is not done with colouring the stamp with markers. It is actually three different stamps so that makes it very easy to get this look. The stamps are photopolymer so they are a snap to stamp perfectly. I love how the stitched framelit mimics the stitching on the pocket. I also thought that the Best Route paper was a great fit for this card. Pocket money for a trip is such a nice gesture, especially if is for a student who could always use a little extra cash. Who am I kidding? I think we could all use a little extra pocket money when we are going on a trip. Another great thing about this card? I chopped up the whole pack since I had been hoarding it for a year! I received it as a gift on the Alaskan cruise? How crazy is that? You really do need to #loveitchopit.
Tomorrow I will post again with one more fantastic card using Pocketful of Sunshine. That card will also use a brand new stamp set called Daisy Lane. I hope you come back to see it. Thanks so much for stopping by. Please click on the images below if you want to buy any of these supplies before they are gone. It will only work if you live in Canada.
