Hello stampers. Today I felt the need to create a simple blog post. Sorry. No, I’m not sorry that it will be a short and simple one, sorry is the focus of the post. It is also the focal point of this amazing stamp set called Sorry for Everything. It is one of the few stamp sets that is only words. There is not even one image in this set!!
I love this set for the following reasons. 1. It is very versatile. It ranges from sorry I missed your birthday to sorry for the loss of your furry friend to sorry you’re not feeling well. 2. It tackles the more difficult issues in life in a straightforward manner. Sorry that things fell apart! I wish I could make everything better. I’m so very sorry for your loss. Sorry to see you go. And finally, forgive me?
As a Christian saying sorry (and asking and extending forgiveness) is essential to the faith. We were forgiven everything, so who are we to withhold forgiveness? I know, my thoughts are running deep today. Let’s break up these deep thoughts and take a look at the card that I made.

Never underestimate the power of a hand written hand made card. I personally know of relationships that have been forever changed and salvaged due to this simple act. If you do not yet have this set, I would highly recommend adding it to your stash. You will use it over and over. The big “sorry” makes it a wonderful focal point so that you can keep the rest of your card fairly simple. I used thick whisper white cardstock for the base, a night of navy layer 4 1/8″ by 5 3/8″ and then a whisper white layer of 4″ by 5 1/4″ run through the Big Shot with the Detailed Floral thinlits (they used to be a bundle with the beautiful Floral Phrases set. Be sure to use the precision base plate as this is a detailed thinlet. If you forget to use this plate and use just the regular platform or the magnetic platform you will notice, trust me! Lots and lots of poking and it might not even cut through all the way. The precision base plate is worth every penny. Remember, it is saleabration time and that means an amazing deal on the starter kit. If you need some of these big ticket items, this is by far the best way to get them. Just click here to join my team and get this deal. No selling required, but wouldn’t a 20% discount on your future purchases be absolutely wonderful? You also get to pre-order from the new annual catalog on May 1!!!! Whooohooo. Lots of perks. (you do need to live in Canada to join my team, sorry!)
Are you interested in how I did the faux bow on my card? This ribbon trick is the most favourite trick I have ever shared, but maybe you are not yet familiar with it. Check out this video. I hope you have a super rest of your weekend!

by Jackie Bultje | Mar 6, 2018 | Barn Door Bundle, slider cards |
Hello stampers! I have had quite the roller coaster ride with the Barn Door bundle, but I believe that I have now come up with the best barn door ever. I did a coffee and a card class last week featuring this beautiful bundle and it was an eye-opening experience. Let me explain. The most annoying thing was all the time it took going to different stores to find just the right washer for the right price. I had already used dimes and pennies but wanted to do it the “right” way. I found that smaller washers were very expensive, it would be cheaper to use 8 dimes on a card rather than washers!
The barn door card is not a difficult one to make, nor is it tedious. The trick is in finding just the right sliding mechanism. There are several great ideas circulating on the world wide web, but in my card making I have found the heavier 1/4 inch washers to be the best. In order to make them work however, you need to make the barn door a little bigger to hide the washers. I mounted the barn door on a piece of cardstock that was 1/4 inch higher and 1/8 inch wider. It is 3 3/4″ by 2 3/8″. Here is my finished card:

I used the framelit in the barn door bundle to cut the sliding tracks in a 4″ by 5 1/4″ piece of heavy white cardstock. I inked up the Pinewood Planks embossing folder with smoky slate and ran it through the Big Shot. I love the distressed look of this. Be sure to watch the video at the end of this post showing how to make a similar card. Here is the card with the door slid over to the other side.

I got my washers at TSC Stores in Ontario, they had them available in bulk making them very cheap, about 1/4 of the price of any home building supply store. They were not a #6 or #8, it just said 1/4 inch on the drawer, which refers to the size of the opening in the washer. They are heavier than a penny and this makes the door slide beautifully. Here is a graphic of the steps I used to make the card, I hope it is clear enough. Between this collage and the video at the end you should be good!

Some demonstrator have used a slider mechanism made of our window sheets and foam adhesive strips. This does work quite well, but I still prefer the weight of the washers. When I had my customers compare the different cards I had made using different mechanisms, this one with the heavier washers won the day! If you prefer to use the window sheet sliders, I show how to use those in the video. I tried sharing a pdf here but it isn’t working unfortunately. Here is another card that I made and you can see with the clever placement of the bow that I was hiding the larger washer sticking out over the top of the door. That is how I came up with the idea to make the barn door just a little bigger. Necessity is the mother of invention.

The saying on this card is from the beautiful stamp set called Ribbon of Courage. This also comes as a bundle with framelits so that you can make cards for anyone dealing with cancer. We have so many beautiful bundles to choose from and it can be difficult to narrow it down. If you want to get a bunch of bundles and not break the bank, definitely consider getting the starter kit which is a fabulous deal until the end of this month, March 31, 2018. You only pay $135, but you get to pick out any product you like worth $165. Then you also get two free stamp sets out of either the annual catalog or the Occasions catalog, a free Paper Pumpkin and 8 catalogs to give to your friends as well as 50 order forms in case they want to buy from you. You are not required to become an “official” demonstrator, you can just get it for your own discount as well. Go for it, you have nothing to lose!! You also get to come to my Diva Day on Saturday April 14 or if you live far away you will get a lovely pampering surprise in the mail.

Hello stampers! Have you ever overlooked something in the catalog or not realized its full potential? I sure have! There is a gem on page 24 of the Occasions catalog that is truly beautiful and very versatile. It is called Petal Passion Memories & More card pack and it is part of the Petal Passion Suite. There are 72 cards in this pack as well as two accents sheets, two dies cut sticker sheets and two acetate overlays One of the cards is an intricate floral cutout that could also be used as a mask.

While I used to be an avid scrapbooker I don’t seem to have the time or inclination to do it lately. These cards were primarily designed to be used in pocket pages for quick and easy scrapbooking or “memory keeping”. You may remember that we used to carry the Becky Higgins Project Life line. This new line of products is so much better! The reason is that they now coordinate with our other products and that makes them super versatile. I used them to make 19 cards and since there are two of each design, that is already 38 cards!! I still have a lot of beautiful cards left over to make more.

I used my Blends on a lot of these cards, pink pirouette, old olive and rich razzleberry were my colours of choice. Don’t you just love the swipe of pink over the words “love” and “sun” on the last card? I love that saying, it is one of the cards in the collection, so don’t spend hours looking for it in one of our stamp sets!!

My very favourite card in the collection is this one with the two little birds! Adorable!! Just makes my heart happy looking at them.

The “happiest of birthdays to you” comes from Picture Perfect Birthday. My assistant Yvonne made some of these cards for me while I was gone on my Masters Retreat in Tucson and one of them is the card on the right. The little embellishments on this card are what I affectionately refer to as “contraband” so don’t go looking everywhere in the catalog for them.

Here you can see that the colour Pool Party is introduced. It also looks great with this suite. It’s so easy to dress up these cards with a little bling or some embossing.

Don’t you just love these pretty die cut stickers? So easy to make a beautiful card with them in no time at all! I highly recommend this collection if you want to add a lot of pretty cards to your stash. Just leave the insides blank so that you can use them for various occasions.

You can see by now how many beautiful and varied cards you can make with this pack of Memories & More cards. It is also very clear how well they coordinate with the other products in this suite. The art work is just stunning.

It is amazing what a difference the ribbon makes. The powder pink shimmer ribbon is the perfect match. It is so subtle in its colour but rich and luxurious in its effect. Wow!!
There will be a Petal Passion Extravaganza class on Thursday April 12 at 10am and 7pm. We will complete 6 cards in class and stamp and prep the elements for 14 more card fronts that you can finish at home. Included in the class will be a full set of Petal Passion Memories & More card pack, two yards of powder pink shimmer ribbon, and a sheet of rhinestones. Cost will be $35.

by Jackie Bultje | Feb 21, 2018 | Blends, Uncategorized |
Hello stampers! I am in love with the Petal Passion Paper and have finally had a chance to play with one of the sheets that is perfect for colouring. I am hosting a Blends Club and I purposely bought several packs of this beautiful paper so that I would have enough to make cards for twenty people. I cut the 12 x 12 paper into six pieces each measuring 3 3/4″ by 5″ so that there was a nice amount of white border around the edges. I then of course fell into my familiar routine of using up the scraps and coming up with a few more card designs so as not to waste anything. When I love a piece of paper I like to get the most out of it!!

I keep a little baggie of little white strips that are left over from cutting card fronts. These are great for little banners and a simple sentiment. For this card I used rich razzleberry, daffodil delight and old olive blends and a little bit of pool party. After cutting the six card fronts from the Petal Passion paper I had some leftover strips that were two inches wide so I used those on the next card. I used a piece of pool party shimmer ribbon to add a nice light contrast.

I also had some 3/4″ strips left over from cutting the card fronts, so I put them together on this card along with some other strips of Petal Passion paper that I had left over from other projects. Because they have more of a black background they combined nicely with the ones I coloured with my blends. Add some ribbon and a stitched framelit sentiment and voila!! On this card I switched up the pool party for smoky slate since that is one of the colours that my Blends club members are receiving today. I really like the look of that colour combination.

The strips of Petal Passion designer series paper on this card are 3/4″ wide by 5″ and they are simply adhered side by side on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of rich razzleberry cardstock. I used the whisper white 1/4″ organza ribbon to accent the sentiment which is also from Petal Palette. The whole suite just works so nice together, I just realized I could have added a petal passion embellishment too, that would look beautiful!! Well, I tried it and it didn’t really add anything, the card is too busy with it, but it did look great on my first card, take a look.

The last card doesn’t use the Petal Passion paper, but it does use the Petal Palette stamp set as well as the same blends colours, rich razzleberry and old olive. I cased this one but I do not have a name so I can’t give credit. The sentiment on this card comes from Happy Birthday Gorgeous. The celebrate is a free thinlit that you can get with a $120 purchase during sale-a-bration which goes until March 31.

With this last card I used the colour lifter on the light rich razzleberry to give it more variation in colour. I am really happy with the way it turned out. I hope you enjoyed these cards featuring our lovely Blends. They are a high ticket item so they are perfect for putting in your starter kit, that way you do not have to pay shipping or tax, you also get two free stamp sets, a free Paper Pumpkin, and from me, you will also get a FREE Celebrate You thinlits dies. The first five people to respond to this blog post will be eligible for this bonus free gift. If you choose Petal Palette as one of your free stamp sets then you will be all set to make these cards when your kit arrives. Click here to get started. Happy stamping!!

Hello stampers! Don’t you just love it when you can use one product in several different ways? I love using the celebrate you thinlet dies from the saleabration offerings as a mask. I cut it out multiple times with window sheets (also known as acetate) I then sponged the back of them with tombow using our silicone mat and then let them dry for a few hours. They are now nice and tacky and can be used many times as a mask. Take a look at what I did:

I hadn’t used the new glossy white cardstock yet so I wanted to see how it would work. My original idea was to use Brusho, so I sprinkled on different Brusho colours and then spritzed with water. Well. It didn’t turn out as expected. The water ran under the masks, but I kept it and it grew on me. It is a great artsy look, not crisp and clear but very fun.

Here is a closeup and then you can see the little bling that I used that look like water droplets. They are called Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes and are found on page 33 of the Occasions catalog.
I still wanted to try Brusho with this mask but in a more controlled way, so I used a colour wash instead with my aquapainter. This worked quite well, but believe it or not I like the messy looking one better!!

The next few cards are the more traditional ones using a brayer and ink. I randomly placed my window sheet cutouts and then brayered over them using only one colour, starting off the cardstock and then working my way up, but starting at the bottom each time so that I would get an ombre effect. See the video at the end of my post to get a clearer picture (pardon the pun!)

Don’t you just love how the Amazing You coordinates with the Celebrate You thinlit dies? It’s like a mirror image with different proportions. This one was done with Berry Burst cardstock, ink and ribbon. So pretty don’t you think? Simple but effective.

This card has a nice spring feel to it with the calypso coral. Did you notice the third free item on this card? It’s the shimmer ribbon pack! It comes in three colours and different widths, but five yards of each basic gray, bermuda bay and calypso coral. I love this ribbon, it is really beautiful. My last card is made using bermuda bay and the other two colours of ribbon from this pack. I thought you might want to see it all in action!

Sale-a-bration is such a great time of year in the stamping world. It is wonderful to be able to choose free product with every $60 you spend and this year they have upped the ante! There are two choices that you can have if you spend $120. One of those choices is the Celebrate framelits and the other one is the Happy Wishes stamp set. It is also an amazing time of year to become a demonstrator OR simple get the great deal on the starter kit for your own benefit. If you would like more information on that, comment below. I don’t want to sound like a broken record but I am very enthusiastic about sharing it since it is almost too good to be true. I would LOVE to have you on my team.
In the meantime, here is the video I promised you showing you the masking technique used on these cards. Enjoy.
