Sneak Peek: Birthday Memories Suite Part Two- Birthday Friends Dies and Birthday Delivery Stamp set

Are you ready for more amazing projects from this fabulous suite? The Birthday Delivery stamp set has 23 pieces, the Birthday Friends has ten dies and the Birthday Memories designer series paper has all kinds of images that match the dies:  the poodle, the fox, the present, the banner, the balloon, the bunch of flowers and the girl. Here is cute card using the girl die and the image from the paper.

The stitched framelits go perfectly with this set. Do you see the coordinating ribbon?

The next card uses the chef image and the neutral paper.

The oval framelit with the cupcakes is part of the patterned paper with cuts out perfectly with the oval framelits and the centre is cut out with the stitched framelits.

Here is close up of the  chef. It is a stamp and is cut out with the framelits.

The chef image doesn't need much, just a touch of colour and a little Wink of Stella to add some glam.

The Birthday Memories paper is also great for making gifts and cards for teachers or nursery school helpers. What do you think?

The word "teacher" is handwritten but I think that adds a nice touch for the teacher if it is written by the child.

When I saw the images on one of the sheets of paper with the animals going to a birthday party I thought it would go perfectly with our hearth and home framelits. Add some clear window sheets and the windows look real!

Brick wall embossing folder, hearth and home thinlets and window sheets.

Here is another “window card” this time using the bear image.

What a great card for a kid! Look through the window to see Bear rushing off to the birthday party.

Here is a peek at the inside of this card:

Easy coordination with the paper, the ink and the card stock. Birthday Memories Suite.

Here is a large 6×6 Z-fold card using several images cut out using the framelits as well as patterned paper for a fun kids card.

Here is another view of the big z-fold card- the base is pacific point and the oval is cut using the Stitched Framelits.

This gives you a great view of all the pretty paper.

Here is another simple card using one inch strips that are 3 1/2 inches long and at the end is a 1″ circle. Add a strip of ribbon and you’re all set.

The patterned paper was also perfect for making a striking 12×12 scrapbook layout. The base is soft sky from the Falling In Love card stock from the Occasions catalog. I used the Large Letters framelits to make the title.

Large Letters Framelits make this a striking scrapbook layout.

The last project I made with this bundle is a mini album that is all ready to be filled with pictures of my soon to be born grandchild! I used three 8 1/2″ square pieces of white card stock.

I used the chipboard from the packaging of our specialty paper to cut the covers for this mini album.

Here is the inside of the book, all ready for some 4×4″ pictures and some triangle photos.

"Squash book" using the Birthday Memories Suite.

So that is the end of the samples I made for #OnStage2017, but I did make one more when I came home, especially since I left my entire box with all my samples and all my free stamp sets from the event in the Allstream Centre. Thank God that they were found by SU staff and were shipped to Utah…hopefully they will ship them to me and I will be reunited with my “children”. Here is a twisted pop-up card. I received one from Ellie Blake and then copied hers using my suite of products.

Oh how I love the stitched framelits with this stamp set and of course the framelits that cut out the images from the patterned paper in the BIrthday Memories Suite.

The magic happens when you open the card! For someone who is mechanically and directionally challenged it was a bit of a stretch to figure out where to put the adhesive so that it would function properly.

The images in the BIrthday Memories suite are pure nostalgia, I am in love with them.

Here is a bit of a peek from above so you can see the mechanics of it all. I admit it is a little complicated but once you wrap your mind around it, it is not too difficult. It will be a great card either for Technique Club or a specialty class.

A few folds and some adhesive in just the right places and you have a very impressive card!!

Well, I hope you love this suite as much as I do. Unfortunately it won’t be available to customers until June 1, but if you get the starter kit, you can pre-order on May 1! How amazing is that. You know how much I would love to have you on my team. And if you have been reading this blog or watching my videos, you also know that there is no obligation to be this amazing demonstrator either. You can get the kit just to get your very own discount. Of course, it is much more fun to stamp with a friend, so you would naturally invite some friends to come and stamp with you and before you know it orders for product will come to you and you will be able to at the very least support your own addiction (oops, hobby) Never forget, stamping is cheaper than therapy and way more fun!!

The retirement list was posted yesterday, check it out here. Remember the in-colours usually sell out as does discounted cardstock and paper. Happy shopping.

Sneak Peek: Birthday Memories Suite

Hello stampers! You are a very lucky bunch indeed, because you get a fabulous sneak peek at a brand new suite from the upcoming 2017-2018 annual catalog. It is called Birthday Memories Suite and it is unlike anything Stampin’Up! has ever offered before. What makes it unique is that the framelits in the bundle also cut out the beautiful images from the paper. I can’t share the pictures for the paper, the stamp set or the framelits yet, but I can show you the projects that I made!

This emboss-resist technique works great with the sentiment and the paper is just beautiful in this Birthday Memories suite available June 1.

I just love the honeycomb embellishments that go with this suite. The colours there match perfectly with the patterned paper. Here is a close-up:

Look how pretty these honeycomb embellishments are! Birthday Memories Suite.

Do you see the girl in the inside of this card? It is a stamp and there is a matching framelit. There is also a girl on the patterned paper that faces the front and it also fits into the framelit.

Look at the beautiful girl image. There is a framelit that goes with the stamp and it also cuts out the girl from the patterned paper which faces the front.

This is the easiest card ever. It measures 6" square and is just a piece of the beautiful patterned paper in the Birthday Memories suite.

The patterned paper in this suite that you can make the easiest cards ever just by using a square of it and putting it on the front of the card. I love the nostalgic feel of it and that it works for both boys and girls. Doesn’t it remind you of the beautiful story books that you read as a child?

The poodle card is also very simple with just a piece of patterned paper and a strip of red card stock stamped with the word "friend" that is in the stamp set.

This is a great card for a dog lover and it simply uses a piece of patterned paper from the Birthday Memories Suite. Here is the inside of the card and it uses the stamp set Here for You.

The inside of the card also uses the stamp set Here for You.

Easy note card using the framelits that cut out all the images from the paper- the poodle, the present and the banner.

This suite is great, not only for cards, but also for cute gifts.

Super simple- a petite cafe bag adorned with a strip of patterned paper, a banner and a piece of ribbon.

This is a petite cafe bag. Did you know that they are poly-lined so that they are safe for treats. Perfect for Easter. I also like to put hazelnut vanilla coffee beans in there. Looks great and smells great too! The next gift is a white treat box that has a clear sleeve around it that has been embellished with a wide banner and a big bow.

I added a cut out turtle from the designer series paper and then used the framelit and the stamp to make an adorable banner and affixed it to a toothpick. It is all attached to the heavy acetate sleeve around the box so it won't get destroyed when the gift is opened.

If you look closely you can see the clear acetate sleeve around the box. That means the whole embellished beautiful topper comes off so that the gift can be opened and nothing destroyed.

This set is also great with baby cards. The matching ribbon is great- here it is deconstructed. I combined it with the That's the Tag bundle.

On this baby card I pulled the ribbon apart and it suits the card perfectly. It also combines very well with the That’s The Tag bundle. Here is close up of the fox:

See the fox? He is from the patterned paper and there is a matching framelit that cuts him out! There is also a coordinating stamp if you want to change up the colours.

Another image that is from the patterned paper is the cake and it cuts out with a coordinating framelit. Such fun to play with!!

Super simple cake card- the cake is cut out with a framelit with the patterned paper.

Here is one more cake card and then I am going to save the rest of the projects for another day. This post is getting super long and I am getting super tired!!

This card uses the chef image and the cake. The cake is from the designer series paper and the chef is a stamp. Both are cut using framelits. How easy is that?

This last card uses one of the neutral sheets from the designer series paper in the Birthday Memories Suite. The cake is an image from the paper and the chef is a stamp. Both are cut using framelits, so no fussy cutting. How awesome is that?!

Stay tuned for more amazing projects using this fabulous suite.

That’s The Tag Bundle

Hello stampers! The last time I used  That’s The Tag bundle was at OnStage in November in Ottawa. I fell in love with the Occasions catalog there and ordered a LOT of stuff with the intention of using it all at least once in a class. I have fulfilled that resolution. Finally I am using this set and I am especially loving the versatility of the framelits. While they are all nice, my favourite is the one with the flower that you can paper piece. Check it out (thanks to Jan Brown for the inspiration for this striking card)

This framelit from That's the Tag make paper piecing easy for a stunning effect.

One of the other framelits is also suited to paper piecing and I used copper foil sheets, basic black and crumb cake with a bit of very vanilla.

An elegant combination of copper, black and crumb cake. Paper is from the Affectionately Yours specialty designer series paper. Framelit and stamp from That's the Tag bundle.

I like the way the ovals repeat with the framelit and the embossing folder. It is called Pretty Paisleys but unfortunately it is no longer available. The last card I made uses framelits that focus on the cut-out pieces. You can either paper-piece them or put the solid oval behind so that the colour pops through.

The framelit from That's the tag has a pretty row of butterflies that coordinate beautifully with the Fluttering embossing folder.

The pretty copper embossed paper is from the Affectionately Yours specialty designer series paper. You can find it on page 45. Check it out here. The embossing folder is one of those bigger square ones, great for adding scrapbook accents as well. It is called Fluttering.

If you want to order any of these products, be sure to use the host code on the side, I try very hard to keep it updated, but you know me, not always the most organized person on the planet!! The interesting thing about this bundle is that it is all about tags, and I haven’t made one tag with it, just cards! Oh the possibilities. I am sure you will agree with me that this is a very versatile set, good for many occasions and for both men and women.

Tomorrow morning I will be on the 6:18 train to Toronto where I will be attending OnStage, a local Stampin’Up! “Convention”. Our first grandchild is also due tomorrow, so lots of excitement in store. My next post will feature the suite I am going to be presenting at OnStage. I can’t wait, I know you will love it as much as I do and I am planning a big event to showcase it. That’s all for now, have a super day.

Cheapest Bundle in the Occasions Catalog!

Hello stampers! Do you know which is the cheapest bundle in the Occasions catalog? It is definitely a hidden gem. You can find it on page 11 and it is only $44 for a seven piece stamp set and three framelits. It is called Birthday Blast Bundle and you can see it here. I recently used this set to make congratulations cards for my team members who were celebrating “Stampin’Up!” anniversaries. I was amazed at how quick and easy it was to make a very striking card, especially when you step it up and use our sparkling glimmer paper.

Dapper denim, silver glimmer paper and silver sequins pair up beautifully with Birthday Blast to make a super easy but very striking card in just a few minutes.

One of the things I like the most about Stampin’Up! is the way their products coordinate to make you look very professional. It takes all the guess work out of card making. The paper matches the card stock which matches the ribbon which matches the ink and voila! A beautiful card with no mental anguish. This stamp set also has nice big sentiments which fill up the page so that with three stamps, a framelit and a piece of ribbon you are done. Anyone would be thrilled to get this card in the mail. It is also good to note that there is no bow tying which makes these great to mail.

See how amazingly the framelit coordinates with the stamp? It also punches our very easily, no fussy poking to get the little bits out.

Birthday Blast is a great set not only for birthday, but for celebrating all kinds of occasions, or no occasion at all, just the fact that the person you love is in your life! You could also use this as a present topper, as pictured in the catalog, or as a Disney crown for your little one. It would make a great craft to do with the kids at a birthday party, they could all make their own crown.

Don't forget to use the little star cutouts that are leftover from the main element in the star blast edgelit dies. I love these little bonuses. It is also nice to have two different sized star stamps in the set to add detail.

See the little silver stars around the Happy Birthday? They are left over when you run the star blast edgelit through the Big Shot. It does help to have the Big Shot die brush to get the little bits out very quickly and easily. The stamp set also comes with two different sized stars to add detail.

Here you can see the framelit used as a present topper if you want to be an ultimate gift giver or party planner:

The star blast edgelit dies are great for making pretty presents as well as card elements or pretty Disney crowns.

So in Love Bundle Inspired by Floral Boutique

Hello stampers! When I first saw the So In Love bundle, it was really the framelits that I fell in love with, not the stamp set so much. Then I saw the happy anniversary saying in there and I knew that was exactly what I had been asking for. We do not have many happy anniversary sayings in our Stampin’Up! lineup, so that was very exciting. For some reason I was also inspired to use it with night of navy and whisper white. That led me to want to play with the Floral Boutique paper as well.

I have been spending a week at a friend’s cottage so that I could spoil my team members and new recruits with some retreat days. Those days were a big hit, everyone had a great time and it was wonderful to have fun together and relax as a team. I also planned for a personal retreat and of course I wanted to spend some time stamping. So in one container I had put my stash of Floral Boutique paper, some night of navy and whisper white cardstock and several shades of blue ink pads. Last night I decided to play! This is what happened.

This set of cards was inspired by Floral Boutique designer series paper. Hence the navy and white. I used the So In Love bundle, as well as Beautiful You.

The framelits from the So In Love bundle are an absolute delight to work with. Combined with the Big Shot die brush, all the little bits fall out easily. The one framelit is designed to be used as a belly band, but I prefer to use it simply as a card accent. Less fuss, less muss.

This happy anniversary card uses strips of paper from Floral Boutique and a few pearl accents.

I just love how the framelits make this card look like a very fancy laser cut card that you would pay big bucks for in a store. Everyone will be so impressed that you made this card!! If only they knew how easy it was.

This card uses the So In Love bundle and the flower image is just stamped repeatedly in night of navy, only re-inking every third stamp so you get at least three different shades of navy to make what looks like patterned paper.

This card was made by repeatedly stamping the flower image from So In Love with night of navy. You get the different shades of blue by re-inking your stamp only after stamping three times. So, stamp, stamp, stamp, then ink up again. Stamp, stamp, stamp, then ink up. A good mantra to remember for making a beautiful monochrome card. I used stitched framelits for the “just for you”.

Monochromatic cards are classic and timeless. Beautiful You combines here with So in Love to make a stunning card in about five minutes!

I thought Beautiful You was a good partner with the framelits from So In Love. With the bold pattern of the lace, the stamping can be kept to a minimum and no embellishments are needed. The result is a card that you can make in about five minutes! Of course you do need a Big Shot, a precision plate and the new platform is best. If you still have the old Big Shot (more than a year old) then you should definitely invest in the new platform, it really does make a big difference. Good tools are always a great investment. The starter kit is the most economical way to get a Big Shot. Message me if you have questions about that.

This happy anniversary card was made using So In Love and Floral Boutique designer series paper. The "patterned paper" at the bottom was made by stamping the smaller images in night of navy and then stamping off to get lighter images.

I love words, so I love the repeated words on this card. I also love that when you stamp multiple times before inking up your stamp again you get all these lovely shades of colour. So the “paper” at the bottom of this card is really just white card stock that I have stamped with the small leaf images in So In Love. It coordinates perfectly with the Floral Boutique paper in the annual catalog.

Life does look beautiful on you with this gorgeous lace detail from the So In Love framelits.

I made up these six cards in about two hours last night and the inspiration was totally just from the Floral Boutique paper. It is amazing what can happen when you just have some lovely paper spread out over your desk and some time on your hands. It felt great to create without copying anyone. I hope you enjoy these simple cards. Here is the last one:

Pearls to the rescue with this Floral Boutique card with So In Love accents.

The designer series paper was added to a navy base measuring 3 3/4″ by 5″. Then I thought it needed a pop of navy so I mounted it on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of night of navy and then I had a dilemma! The white lacy piece now looked like it was floating on the navy, so I added a string of pearls on either side. Be sure to use the tiny pearls that are all attached to each other. It makes for a quick and easy accent.

Happy stamping everyone, it is time for me to have some supper with my husband. I haven’t seen him in a few days. Yes, I was at the cottage all by myself. Quite nice for a change to slow down. I really enjoyed nature, I even saw an eagle yesterday and four deer including a fawn. This morning I saw several flocks of tundra swans. We live in a beautiful world. God is good.

The Tools of the Trade- Part One: the Big Shot

Hello stampers. What is your favourite tool in your stamp room? The one tool you could not do without? For me it is the BIg Shot. Of course you do need a paper trimmer, and I will talk about that one another day. The Big Shot is the tool that totally floored me when I first fell in love with card making. How a machine could turn plain paper into a beautifully textured work of art was just amazing to me. Of course, it not only embosses (which, if you are a brand new stamper is the word for turning a flat, plain piece of cardstock into a textured, patterned work of art) it also cuts and scores things.

Use the Big Shot to turn plain cardstock into beautiful textures and patterns with an embossing folder. The one show here is a "dynamic" folder which means it is extra thick and gives a 3-D effect. It is called Hexagons.

You can also use the Big Shot to cut things using metal shapes called framelits or thinlets and they are either plain shapes such as ovals, squares, circles, hearts, stars, etc. Stampin’Up also carries Stitched Framelits which are my favourite because they add such classic detail with ease. They are also very hard to find since they are not in any of our catalogs yet, but if you click here you will have it at your fingertips. Use the host code on the side bar and you can have these beauties delivered to your  door in no time at all!

When using detailed framelits such as this one from Botanical Builder you get the best results with using the Precision Base Plate.

When cutting out detailed shapes you will get amazing results with the Precision Base Plate. This is a very solid steel plate that has no give, so it works very well to cut in all those tiny spots. Combined with the die brush you will be so happy with the improved results. Worth every penny. The recipe is the Big Shot platform and thin die adaptor, then the precision base plate with the black side up, then  your cardstock and your thinlet or framelit then ONE clear cutting plate. Here are the instructions in case you lost yours or have a hard time finding exactly where to look:

A quick overview of how to make the right "sandwich" with your Big Shot.

I am including a video at the end of this post of what to do if you order a Big Shot. It can be a bit overwhelming when the box arrives and you realize that there is “some assembly required”. Don’t let it scare you. All you have to do is attach the handle, but you can laugh along with me as I do it, or try to do it, without reading the instructions. Here are the instructions so I can encourage you to do it the better way! In Canada we call the “hex wrench” an Allen Key if that makes it more clear.

Simple instructions for assembling your Big Shot. All you need to do is take it out of the package and put the handle on.

Here is a card made by one of my customers, Jane. I recreated it last night using the Happy Birthday from Rose Wonder, but I forgot to take a picture, so I am just going to use Jane’s. She did a beautiful job. You will recognize the copper foil leaves on here from the Botanical Builder Framelits that I showed above.

This card made by my customer Jane Koomans uses the sale-a-bration set Avante Garden, only available until March 31 for free with a $60 purchase in Canada. Also used Botanical Builder framelits.

Finally, here is the video I made with Jeff showing how to put the BIg Shot together and how to use it properly. Remember, if you don’t have a Big Shot yet, the best way to buy it is to include it in your starter kit. That way you pay no shipping or tax plus you a few extra embossing folders as a bonus. Why? How? Because the kit is only $135 but you get to choose $165 in product, so that could include the BIg Shot for $136, a woodland embossing folder for $11.25, a brick wall embossing folder for $11.25 plus stampin’ mist cleaner for $6. You will only pay $135!! That is LESS than the price of the Big Shot in the catalog. PLUS you then get to pick out any two free stamp sets out of the Occasions or Annual catalogs. Stampin’Up also includes a past Paper Pumpkin kit in your starter kit as well as 8 annual catalogs, 8 Occasions catalogs, 8 sale-a-bration flyers and 50 order forms. You then get 20% off all your own orders and 20% instant income if you sell anything to your people. If you choose not to sell to anyone or not to buy another thing ever (really??) you will still have the great deal on your kit. Click here to join and get the starter kit.

Well, I wish you all the best with your Big Shot, if you have any questions or comments, please leave them here, I do love to hear from you. Next in this series will be the Stampin’ Trimmer.
