Hello stampers. I’m still super excited about all the new products we got to see and play with this past weekend at OnStage Toronto. One of my favourite suites was the Color Theory Suite that Alison Solven presented. I am sharing her samples here for you to enjoy. My product should be arriving today. That is definitely one of the big benefits of being a demonstrator, whether you do it to build a business, to earn a few extra dollars or just to get your own discount. You get to see and buy product before anyone else. So much fun. Here is the display board that shows you everything that is included in this fabulous suite.
I love that we also now will be offering Memories and More cards that can be used for memory keeping (aka Project Life or scrapbooking) AND for card making since it all coordinates so beautifully. There is a stamp for a sling-back lawn chair, but there is a framelit for a Muskoka (Canadian eh?) or Adirondack (for our American friends) chair. I love those chairs, in fact I will have two red ones arriving at my house soon.
Please do remember that the card samples featured here are to the best of my knowledge all the work of Alison Solven. Click here is a link to her blog. She has posted more of her samples there of course. We were so blessed to have her at OnStage Toronto all the way from New Westminster BC.
The sayings in this set are great and useful for both card making and memory keeping as well as home decor. Can’t wait to play with them. If you are a Stampin’Up! customer and need a little nudge to get your own discount all the time, this is it! You can get all this product as well as the Birthday Memories suite in your starter kit and on pre-orders beginning May 1, so take a moment and think about that awesome opportunity. I love sharing it since it so wonderfully changed my life is so many, many ways.
This emboss-resist technique works great with the snowflake images on this card. Did you know that glossy white cardstock is coming back to the annual catalog?
The following sample I am sharing uses the “paint chip” inspired paper included in the suite. Now we don’t have to go to the paint store any more to liberate paint chips.
One last sample…I guess I really do love snow flakes as most of the photos I took were from Alison’s snowflake cards!!
The last photo is not a very good one as it was taken in a dark room of the screen from the live feed from Amsterdam, but it does show a great scrapbook page. When purchasing product, you will save money and time by focusing on suites. Just like buying clothes, it makes sense to buy coordinating products because they work together so well. This makes it easy to make beautiful things and takes the work out of it. Just spread it all out on your work surface and the creativity will flow. Try it. You will be amazed.
Don’t forget to check out the retiring list, there are lots of great deals on there- anywhere from 15% to 50% off including items from the Occasions catalog. Click here to see your options, remember there are three categories to go through, there is a LOT of stuff. If you order online, please remember to use the current host code: S4M6VSZZ
Alison kindly sent me her pictures of her samples which are much nicer and also have her watermark on them. A lot of work goes into making the samples for OnStage because you have to come up with every idea totally on your own! If you pinned any of my pictures earlier that had my watermark on them, please delete them and repin these ones instead. Thanks for understanding. I am learning as I go!!
Hello stampers. I fell in love with Stampin’Up! because it gave me the tools I needed to become an artist. Now that is a very big deal because I never felt artistic. In fact, I avoided art in school. Fast forward to Beautiful You. Now that is the perfect set to help you discover your inner artist. There are TONS of great cards out there using this set and so many different techniques to try. One of my favourites is the reflection technique, and it is much easier than you might think. The card below was totally cased from Sandi MacIver.
The reflection technique also works very well with the stamp set High Tide. Check out this card I made. The other benefit is that it is a surprisingly quick and easy card to make. Five minutes is all it takes.
I used night of navy for the birds, crumb cake for the sand, garden green for the grass and marina mist for the water. The sun is so saffron. The patterned paper on the left is from Serene Scenery (#141642) and on the right the coral strips are from By The Shore (#141640) The white strips measure 2 1/2″ by 5 1/2″.
Here is a close-up of the birds. If you wanted to go the extra step, you could use a blender pen to make a smoother transition between the water and the shore. I didn’t do that with this card. It is literally a five minute card.
I just realized that I have totally failed to tell you how this technique is accomplished. Simple. You use the imaging sheet that comes with our Stamp-a-ma-jig. Yes, that is actually what it is called. It is used to accurately position your words, but this is a side benefit! You stamp your image on the smooth side of the imaging sheet. Then flip it over and place it under your stamped image and rub it onto the cardstock. Clear as mud? No worries. A picture is worth a thousand words, and a video even more so. Here is a video showing you exactly how to do it.
Thats all for today. If you enjoyed this please leave me a comment, it is so rewarding knowing that someone has seen your post!
High Tide was one of the first stamp sets on my wish list. It has the perfect combination of iconic images and beautiful sayings. I think it will be a set that I reach for again and again. I love how you can use the lighthouse image as a single stamp or layer both of them for two-step stamping. This card uses just the one image stamped in dapper denim. Both the birds and the sand are stamped in sahara sand. Now my ink pad was a little dry so the colour is bit lighter than it normally would be. In the following cards I have re-inked it and there is a considerable difference!
The next card has some layering to it, just to add a little depth. Card base is dapper denim with a mat of real red that is 3 3/4″ high by 4 1/4″ wide. Then on top of that is a piece of sahara sand cardstock measuring 4″ by 3 1/4″. I tucked in a scrap of jute ribbon behind the image. I also used the “weave” image from Best Birds as a subtle background to this card. Both of these cards were inspired by Lyssa Zwolanek.
The last card was born by my need to use only the other stamps in the set, but not the lighthouse. I also wanted a pop of red, so I turned to our latest Valentine’s paper, Sending Love. We also have nautical paper in our annual catalog, it is called By The Shore. Super simple card, perfect for many occasions. The paper strips are all 4″- the red one is 3/4″ wide, the shells 1 1/4″ and the waves 1 3/4″. If you love quilting, you will also love card making. Paper is also cheaper than fabric, and card making is almost instant gratification! One of my favourite things to do is to combine papers from different paper packs although Stampin’Up! makes it very easy to mix and match papers with guaranteed success with their assorted designer series paper packs. The patterned paper also matches our card stock, so no time is wasted trying to get things to match and your cards and scrapbook pages always look professional. It is truly one of the things I love most about Stampin’Up.
These are the cards we will be making next week Tuesday at my weekly coffee and a card class starting at 10am. We start in the kitchen with coffee, tea and homemade baking and we chat around the fireplace or the kitchen table for about twenty minutes before we head to the stamp room (studio) to make the cards. The cost is $10 and everyone brings their own adhesive kit (tape runner, glue dots and dimensionals). This same class is offered on Saturday mornings at 10am at a beautiful store downtown called The Dutch Market. The coffee there is free and there is an amazing selection of European pastries for sale. The Dutch Market has a great selection of products from Europe, an amazing bakery and also fresh local produce. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t already done so. Here is their website. If you are not in Chatham you can also order online from them.
If you have never tried stamping, I hope you contact me and give it a try. I would love to have you come to my classes, there is such great joy in discovering your creativity and I would be honoured to help you do just that.
