Crane of Fortune

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Last week I made another Crane of Fortune card and it has made me want to make more! Crane of Fortune is an Asian-inspired stamp set that is also made with the DistINKtive technique. What does this mean? It means that the stamp is made to look like you have used different colours with it when in reality it is only stamped once. Very clever! Let’s take a look.

Crane of Fortune:  Using the Catalog for Inspiration

What do you do when you need inspiration for a stamp set? I would guess that most of us troll the internet. Pinterest, YouTube, Facebook groups or a Google search. These are all great ideas but it can lead you down the rabbit hole of time lapse! Why not do what I did? Just open your catalog and see what our in house artists have done with it. This will usually get your own creative juices flowing and it doesn’t take up a lot of time either. Both of the cards that I am going to share with you today were “cased” from the catalog. C.A.S.E. means copy and share everything.

Slimline card made using Crane of Fortune from Stampin'Up!

Here is the inside of this slimline Crane of Fortune card that I made for my Monday Cheer Corner video on YouTube . The colour combination came from the list of colours that were used in the patterned paper in the Symbols of Fortune suite.

Here is the inside of the card. You can see that I continued with the same colour theme of calypso coral and soft succulent, this time with a touch of crumb cake.

Real Floral Inspiration

I hope you enjoyed these Crane of Fortune cards. Many weeks ago I shared some cards made by an Artisan design team member  when this suite first came out. You can see them here.

Yesterday I had the incredible privilege and delight to be able to go to Keukenhof gardens. It did not disappoint! What a gorgeous display of flowers, trees and water. Even the grass is incredible!!

A kind stranger took a photo of us together! We went on a Sunday afternoon so we were still dressed up from church. Bailey came with too and he loved it! Do you agree with me that dogs can smile?

I hope you have a super day and a great start to this new week. Sometimes life can be crushingly difficult and then you need to take simple pleasures in the small moments. The song of a bird, the colour of a flower the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Sending hugs and prayers for whatever you may be dealing with today as well. Hugs from Holland!

Paper Blooms and Art Gallery

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am sharing some cards using Paper Blooms and the die from Art Gallery. It is already evening and Rachel is cooking supper. Good smells are coming from the kitchen and it is dark outside. I am hopefully going to squeeze in a blog post before she has supper ready!

Paper Blooms

This beautiful designer series paper is free with a $60 saleabration purchase. What does that mean exactly? Purchase any Stampin’Up! products from either the annual or Occasions catalog worth $60 before shipping and tax and you get this paper for free if that is your choice. There are other saleabration freebies to choose from as well. I paired the paper with the “Just Wanted to Say” die from Art Gallery. Here it is:

Paper Blooms

This slimline card fits into a business envelope and measures 4″ by 9″. Each patterned paper piece measures 2″ by 3″. I love how all the different patterns combine for such a pleasing effect. The die from Art Gallery cuts out the words that you can space out just how you want.

Art Gallery and Gold Leafing

The second card uses the Art Gallery die and the coordinating paper from this gorgeous suite. The icing on the cake is the Gold Leafing. This product is so much fun to use and it will make you feel like a real artist. I did a video on it here.

Art Gallery and Gold Leafing

Do you notice the letters on this card? I used our adhesive foam sheets to give the letters dimension. Simply put the cardstock on the adhesive foam sheet and then run it through the die cutting machine with the “just wanted to say” die.

How to use Gold Leafing

Basically there are two ways to use gold leafing. You can either emboss your image that has been stamped in versamark with Heat and Stick powder. As soon as this has melted pour on the gold leafing and pat it down either with your fingers or our sponging brushes. Be sure not to heat your heat and stick powder too much or it will lose its stickiness!

The other way is to simply use two sided tape like our Tear’n’Tape. Press the gold leafing onto the tape and it looks just divine. This is easiest if you do this is a container big enough to hold your card and to move your hands around in. It should also have a lid so you can keep your gold leafing stored in there. It is as light as air and will dissipate without a lid.

New Tutorial!

I would just like to draw your attention to the fact that I have a new tutorial for sale. This one features the Lots of Heart bundle and uses the products from my Love You Always Parcels in the Post. Tutorials are instant gratification but they also give added value to your stamping purchase because you will get a lot more use from them with the help of a step by step tutorial.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for joining me today, it’s always nice to see your electronic footprints here. I cannot see exactly who has come unless you leave a comment but I can see how many and even which country you are from. I love how this hobby draws people from all countries and all ages.

Leave a comment today letting me know when the last time was that you sent happy mail and you might get some happy mail from me! Have a super day and happy stamping.

Darling Donkeys Perfect for COVID!!

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Have you seen the Darling Donkeys stamp set yet? Oh my goodness!!! It really is darling and it is the perfect set to send some happy, funny mail to people during this COVID pandemic. Perhaps, like me, you didn’t get around to sending out Christmas cards. This would be the perfect card to send out as a happy new year card. Let’s take a look.

Darling Donkeys

I made a slimline card that fits into a business envelope. Slimline cards are super popular right now. I have made them in the past but I didn’t have a catchy name for it back then! My card is 8″ by 9″ scored at 4″. The white panel is 3 3/4″ by 8 3/4″. If you watch the video you can see how I made the numbers with basic black cardstock and foam adhesive sheets.

Pod Parties

Did you know that you can get even more free things during Saleabration? I am organizing Pod Parties. Eight people are in a pod and they each commit to making an order for $68.25. That way together it will be an order that qualifies for a half price item. By a random draw 6 people will get $12.83 in host benefits (enough to get a host set), one person will get the Punch Party stamp set and one person will get a half price item. EVERYONE will get a free saleabration item. I will be doing a video party with all pod participants and you will also get a Berry Blessed paper sampler. This is a one time event, not a long term commitment. Let me know if you want to join. You do need to live in Canada.

Punch Party

Another benefit to this great stamp set is that it coordinates with so many of our punches including the one that I am featuring this month in my Virtual Coffee and a Card series. You can find me on YouTube every Tuesday morning at 10am. If you click on “subscribe” then you won’t miss any of my videos there. I still have a few kits left if you want to join in and create with me. $25 to have it mailed or $20 for porch pick up. Here is the link for my channel.

Save Money!!

If you want to save money on your stamps, now is the best time to get the starter kit. If you have more questions or want to know more benefits, message me and I will be happy to share with you. For now, know that you get a 20% discount on your purchases after you get the starter kit. Click here to get started.

Thank You!!

I hope you know how much you are appreciated! Each person that stops by and reads my blog brings me joy. Comment today and message me your address and I will send you a card!
