Feather Together: Timeless Elegance for Many Occasions

Hello stampers! What do you look for in a stamp set? I love a set that combines great images with a few great sentiments. I also get quite excited when the set can be used for different occasions and for both men and women. Feather Together fits the bill perfectly. It has some great words in a great font and the feather images can be used together or separately. SInce the set is photopolymer, it makes it very easy to do a two-step stamp. I will share a video with some tips and tricks on how to do that. Take a look at this stamp set:

Love the font in this photopolymer stamp set.

I haven’t played with this set as much as I would like to, but here are some cards that I made for my coffee and a card class. I thought that the simplicity of the card would pair well the simple beauty of our copper foil paper.

Thinking of You and Sending hugs is just perfect with these feathers, great for a man or woman.

Here is the same card but using different words. I am sorry that the script patterned paper is no longer available. I love it so much that I wanted to use the rest of my stash. I think we should all petition Stampin’Up! to bring it back. It was available in the patterned paper stacks in each of the colour families but the neutrals were my favourite. The white panel on the first two cards is the same size, 4″ by 2 5/8″.

Copper foil paper really sets off the simplicity of this earth toned card.

Now I have to confess that I tend to hoard more expensive paper. It makes me happy to be able to get the most use out of it, so before mounting the white part on the copper I first cut out some leaves for another card making sure to leave enough of an edge so that you wouldn’t notice what I did. Check it out, I am pretty pleased with myself!

Getting the most use out of your copper foil paper.

Here is what I did with those beautiful leaves. I made two versions of this card, one with a single piece of patterned paper in the background and another one with strips of paper (they are approximately 1 3/8″ wide by 4″ long. That way I could not only use up my paper scraps but I could also showcase how well the papers coordinate. The leaf framelits are from the Colorful Seasons bundle. The stamp set is one of the sets featured in the World Card Making Day sale until October 10.

Copper leaves with Coffee Cafe, who would have thought?

The last card here was actually the first card that I made. When I saw the feathers I thought of the pretty blue jay feathers I would sometimes find on my lawn after our cat Jacob had followed his natural instincts. I used Pacific Point and Early Espresso.

Hexagons embossing folder adds interest to this card with Feather Together.

I love the poignancy of just one leaf. The white panel is 3 1/4″ by 4 1/4″. The pacific point is 5 3/8″ by 4 1/8″. I used the hexagon embossing folder to add some interest to this otherwise clean and simple card. Sometimes two or three-step stamping can be daunting, but all you really need to do is give yourself enough time, be sure to practice and experiment with different colour combinations and stand up. Yes, stand up. If you stand while stamping you get a better view and can line things up more easily. I made a video with a few little tips and tricks to help you along.

Baby Bear helps to welcome our first grandchild!

Baby Bear has a very important job to do. He is helping to welcome our first grandchild into the world! I am thrilled that our oldest daughter Stefanie and her husband Andrew are expecting their first child. So we used Baby Bear to make baby shower invitations. At first Stefanie wasn’t sure, but when she saw how this beautiful vintage bear just pops off the page she was smitten. Look how he transforms!

Baby Bear is a triple layer stamp, each layer adds more detail, but it is so easy with photopolymer stamps.

Stefanie’s favourite colour is crushed curry so that was our accent colour. The bear was stamped first in black (this is actually image number three) then in basic grey (image number 2) and then in smoky slate (image number 3) The numbers are actually right on the acetate sheet that the stamps are on to make it super easy.

Crushed curry washi tape in different designs adds a quick and contemporary accent to these baby shower invitations.

Here is a look at the complete set. It is only $32 Canadian for 12 stamps. Did you notice that you can also use it for wedding cards or Valentine’s Day?

Baby Bear stamp set of 12 for only $32

Here is a cute Valentine’s card I found on Pinterest by Rita Mootz. And yes, the cable knit folder is still available!! Here is the holiday carryover list so you can see what is still available from our beautiful Holiday catalog.

Baby Bear is super versatile and can be used for babies, weddings and Valentine's, even thinking of you cards.

I am very excited about becoming an “oma” even though it means not being able to go to OnStage live in Amsterdam. That might happen again, but being a grandma for the first time only happens once. April 7 is the due date.

In case you were wondering why it has been a while since my last blog post, it is because I was just gone on an amazing ski vacation in Mont Tremblant, Quebec. When I work, I work hard, and when I play, I play hard, so I try not to combine pleasure with work, so I didn’t bring a laptop along to blog. I knew you would understand. Here are a couple of pictures:

The stunning views are my favourite part of skiing.
