Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am going to share with you the Split Front Card technique. I have been meaning to try this for a while, but Janis’ card in the mail for my happy mail in Holland contest prompted me to no longer procrastinate. First I will show you Janis’ card which uses Timeless Tropical.
Janis’ Card
Janis became my customer years ago when she attended my Hearts for Haiti fundraiser with her friend Brenda. Both of them were public health nurses in Chatham-Kent. Janis has since become a team member and friend and we also play a mean game of pickleball together. I’m sure we are a sight to behold. Janis is my “little friend” at barely five feet and she has an amazing serve. We have had some pretty great times beating our male opponents!
Here is the inside of the card. I love the sentiment and the great tropical colours: calypso coral, mango melody and old olive. It also looks like Janis used one of our awesome new punches.
It’s always an exciting moment for me when I spy happy mail in the mailbox. Gerard’s flap on the mailbox doesn’t always stay closed so I can peak in as I drive by either in the car or on the bike. Those extra happy stamps on the outside of the envelope are also a harbinger of more good things to come!
My Split Front Cards
For these cards I used a piece of whisper white measuring 5 1/8″ by 7 3/4″. You can choose to cut it in half first before you stamp, or do it later. My eye was off so I found it super helpful to cut it in half first at 3 7/8″ and then butt them up against each other to stamp. You can see the video to understand this technique. Colours: night of navy, mossy meadow and soft sea foam. Stamp sets: Here’s A Card, Forever Fern and Tasteful Touches. Here is another blog post featuring Forever Fern.

An Afternoon in Delft
One of my cousins in Holland takes me for lunch or dinner in Delft every time I come to Holland. It is such a wonderful tradition. We catch up on each other’s families and just enjoy this beautiful old city. It is not only the origin of the famous Delfts Blauw pottery, it is also where William of Orange was shot in the church and where many of the royal family are buried. Here are a few shots of my time in Delft including a super cute bag that looks just like some of our Playful Pets paper.
Happy Mail in Holland Contest
If you would like to have your card featured on my blog AND get a chance to win a stamp set of your choice (up to $30) then please send me a card in Holland. The address is Jackie Bultje, Bloemenlaan 6, 2691 JC, -s’Gravenzande, the Netherlands.
Edited: I am not able to post any more pictures in this post due to technical issues with the computer so I am going to abruptly end this blog post and will add to it later when things are working again. I was hoping to share a photo of the cards that I made in my live video using this technique as well as some fun shots from Delft. Oh well. Stuff happens and it is Friday afternoon here and the sun is shining. I am going to head to the market and buy some fish for supper. Then I am going to bike into town for a visit with some friends. Life is good. I am blessed. Thanks so much for joining me today.
As you can see, the computer was cooperating today and I could add the rest of my pictures! Happy squirrel.
Hello stampers and happy Wednesday. Cinnamon Cider is the last in colour to be reviewed and it is interesting to note that I inadvertently called it a “sweet” brown when I tried to use it to colour a dock. Cinnamon cider is sweet, so the description is appropriate. So far I have made only one card with it, but I am looking forward to the many possibilities with this new colour!
Cinnamon Cider
For this card I kept it super simple and used the stamp set See the Good. How can I possibly express how much I love this saying? Some people just restore your faith in the world by who they are or what they say or do. That is what we are all called to do; to be the good in the world! To be a reflection of the One who made us, the one who loves us and the one who wants to save us all. All the stamps used on this card are from the stamp set See The Good. You can find it on page 79 of the annual catalog.
I matted the white panel on our new brass metallic paper. I sponged the cinnamon cider panel with ink as well after I embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. The three flowers stamped in Misty Moonlight add just the right pop of colour and also showcase the fact that Cinnamon Cider and Misty Moonlight pair very well together.

Did you know that if you place an online order with me using the current host code that you get a free pdf tutorial from me? You can also get this amazing tutorial for free if you are a team member or a member of my demonstrator training group. This month all of the 16 projects are 3D. It is a lot of fun collaborating with 15 other talented demonstrators to make this tutorial.
Rhine River Valley Views
I thought I would include a short video I took on the gondola chair lift in Ruddesheim, Germany. Traveling vicariously through someone you know is better than not traveling at all!
Here is the view of the town we stayed at from across the river.
Thanks!
Thanks for joining me today. I would love to hear from you about which in colours you like the best? I am going to finalize the details for an online In Colour Club so that we can actually have a stamping event together again. Stay tuned for details.
Don’t forget about the Happy Mail in Holland contest. Send your cards to Jackie Bultje, Bloemenlaan 6, 2691 JC ‘s-Gravenzande, the Netherlands. Be sure to get them in the mail by July 31 and then I will have time to blog about them before August 29. Hello stampers and happy Tuesday to you. Today I am featuring Magenta Madness, In Colour number four. Not all in colours are created equally and after a while we all have our favourites. Do you already know which one is your favourite? The jury is still out for me as I think I need to play a little more with all of them before I make up my mind. What really makes a difference for me is which patterned paper has the in colours in it. Let’s take a closer look at Magenta Madness.
Magenta Madness
Truthfully I wasn’t too sure about Magenta Madness. It is a strong colour to be sure! Then I saw this adorable patterned paper from Flowers for Every Season and it changed everything.
This is very much a monochromatic card except for the strip of patterned paper which really pops against the Magenta Madness background. The saying from Tasteful Touches is also stamped tone on tone with Magenta Madness. Meadow Moments is the name of the embossing folder that I used at the top of this card. It is a narrow embossing folder that measures 6 1/4″ by 3 3/8″ so that it fits into the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and it comes in a set of two.
A Travel Story or Two
Yesterday we came back from our long weekend away in Germany. What an amazing weekend we had!! Of course after being separated for five months and not being able to travel at all, it was even more special. I can only say that if you ever get a chance to go to Germany, be sure to go to the Middle Rhine Valley. Within a one hour drive from Rudesheim there were at least thirty castles!! That was only going in one direction, I didn’t count the ones driving the other way. Here are just a few pictures from inside the last castle we visited: Burg Rheinstein.
What I loved most about this castle is that little stairs up to the pinnacle of the tower. I walked up those stairs and boy is it far, far up!! I didn’t look down until I was at the top protected by a small wall. The other amazing thing is that it built right on the rocks of the mountain making it look like it is carved right out of the stone itself!
Do you see the ink well and the feather pen on the desk? Just like the stamp set Beautiful World on page 26 of the annual catalog!!
View from the other side of the Rhine
Part of our “romantik” tour was a chair lift down the mountain to a “red wine village”. On the chair lift there was a stunning view of the two castles on the other side of the Rhein river (yes, we spell it differently in North America) The other castle that you can barely see on the right hand side of my photo is called Burg Reichenstein.
So Much Beauty
I could just keep posting more pictures of all the beauty that I saw this past weekend, but I will end with a picture of the two of us and then one of me in my “little black dress” that I promised I would share with you. There is a little bit of a story behind that dress. I bought it from my cousin Yolanda who owns a fashion boutique just north of Guelph three years ago right before I went on my trip to France and Thailand.
This was the first time that Gerard saw me wear it because I felt a little self conscious in it. As women we are often way too hard on ourselves and by doing so we miss out on some great things. I’m so glad I mustered the courage to wear this dress, and when I look at this picture of me, I think, what is wrong with me that I didn’t dare wear this?! So I will try harder to practice what I preach and be kinder to myself.
Magenta Madness Geraniums
Thanks!
Thanks for visiting my blog today, I hope you are also starting to fall in love…with magenta madness that is. I just noticed that the colour of the geraniums in my picture with Gerard are exactly that colour too!! How amazingly coincidental is that? Have a super day, and don’t forget that if you live in Canada, you can shop with me simply by clicking on the links below.
Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am introducing you to Just Jade, a lovely new In Colour from Stampin’Up! from 2020-2022. If you have any doubts at all about this colour, just pair it with the Forever Greenery designer series paper and you will fall in love! Let’s take a look at my simple card.
Forever Fern Card with Just Jade
Isn’t this card just a breath of fresh air on a hot day? I left this card behind in Chatham, so I am guessing at the measurements. The Just Jade piece is 1 3/4″ by 5 3/8″ and I ran it through the Greenery embossing folder. The Forever Greenery paper is 2 3/8″ by 5 3/8″. Adhere them to the card front and then tie the gold metallic trim from the Forever Greenery trim combo pack around twice ending with a nice big bow. The saying is from Forever Fern and is of course stamped in Just Jade. The die is from Tasteful Touches bundle.
Thanks!

Hello stampers and happy Thursday. Yesterday was a strange day with some crazy blog issues, but today I can finally share with you the gorgeous Bumblebee, one of the five new in colours from Stampin’Up! On this fun card you see Bumblebee cardstock in the background run through the Old World Paper embossing folder, Bumblebee ribbon on the tag and Bumblebee ink for the saying. It pairs really well with Misty Moonlight don’t you think?
Tasteful Touches
There are so many wonderful new products in our new annual catalog and I sometimes get a couple of them mixed up. Tasteful Touches (page 124) and Beautiful World (page 26) both have a similar font and they have a feather stamp. I have found that I am often using these two suites together. Needless to say, the saying and the feather are both from Tasteful Touches and the patterned paper and the embossing folder are both from the World of Good suite.
Out and About
Yesterday we went to Delft which is about 25 minutes from Gerard’s house. Our trip was not as tourists but to find some things for the kitchen. I was amazed at how big this store was! It is a wholesale store for the hospitality industry and you can find all kinds of food, cooking and baking supplies, display merchandise, accessories and furniture for restaurants. Gerard was keenly aware that I could have spent all day there just browsing through. Just a little bit dangerous. The wine selection alone was vast!!
The Joy of the Beach
Every day we take Bailey for a walk on the beach which is just across the road from one of the greenhouses. It is amazing how every day it is still somehow different. There are different beautiful things washed up on the beach. The tide is different; the wind; the sun or the rain and the other people with or without their dogs. Sometimes you can even encounter a horse!! Or his rather large droppings. Apparently there are no rules against horse poop on the beach! Dog poop is another story. Either way, what a blessing to be together on such a beautiful beach. God is good!
Happy Mail in Holland contest
Please don’t forget about sending me a card in Holland! Please use current Stampi’Up! products and then I will feature you on my blog as well as enter you into a contest for the stamp set of your choice worth up to $30. I will ship it anywhere in the world if you win. If you mail it by July 31 I should get it in time. Hopefully I will be in Holland until August 29. Jackie Bultje, Bloemenlaan 6, 2691 JC ‘s-Gravenzande, The Netherlands.
Ways to Support Me
Thanks so much for joining me today, and thanks for your patience. I just read online about some Dutch demos who had to go back to their regular jobs and stop doing Stampin’Up! fulltime. This was largely due to COVID19 and the loss of income from not being able to do in person classes. That is why I am asking for what I need!
If you live in Canada, you can shop with me online, just click the links below in the product list. Anyone can buy my tutorials which will give you instant stamping gratification and help you get the most out of your stamping supplies. Are you a fellow demonstrator and want to learn from someone who has been around for a while and has received awards in every category? Join my training group!! It’s only $5 a month and I would love to help you grow your own business. I appreciate each and every one of you and I hope you feel the love!
