Romancing Timeless Tulips

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. Today I am going to share with you “romancing” Timeless Tulips. Timeless Tulips is a stamp set and coordinating punch that has been with us for a while. Last year it even had coordinating paper during saleabration that had tulips that could be punched out. Truth be told I was not in love with the images in this set. They were too “geometrical” for me. Not enough romance and softness. What’s a girl to do?

Romancing Timeless Tulips

After having visited the famous Keukenhof gardens for a spectacular display of all flowering spring bulbs, I was inspired to make a tulip card. Since I had not used this stamp set in such a long time, it was time to dust it off. I realized that the sentiments in this set are truly wonderful AND it is also available in Dutch. But what to do about those “severe” tulips?

I decided to stamp them on shimmery white cardstock and then soften them with a water painter. The results were even better than I had hoped for. Not only did it give a lovely, soft look, it also curled the paper just a little for a nice 3D effect. Let’s take a look and then you can tell me what you think too!

Timeless Tulips card with Flowering Fields Paper in the background

Here you can see the tulips closeup. The tulip builder punch makes a tulip and a leaf. The leaves can also be used to make a tulip. How amazing is that? I show you how to do that in my video which you can click on below to watch on YouTube.

If you want to see how this card came about, take a look at the video below. If you click “watch on YouTube” that would be the best!!

One More Card

I decided to make one more card showing the tulips and leaves stamped directly on shimmery white cardstock. No fussy cutting, no punched tulips or leaves. My cousin Martin was a lover of nature so this card is a tribute to his memory.

Punched and Stamped Tulips and Leaves

I thought it might be helpful for you to see some of the punched images and the difference between regularly stamped and “romanced” tulips. You will agree that this is a very versatile stamp set for many different occasions! The punch also can be used to create a solid cardstock tulip without stamping. I see that I forgot to add the brushed brass butterflies to the supply list, so you can see them here. (click on the blue text) If you live in Europe and want to shop with me you can click here.

If you want to see some cards made with the non-stamped tulips, check out this blog post here.

Get Them Before They’re Gone

When I decided to use this stamp set and punch for my Cheer Corner card I had no idea that they were retiring. Now I know, so I can remind you to get it while you can. Check the product list below and then you can see all the sentiments that are included in this stamp set. It’s a good one!!

Items that are retiring are only available while supplies last or until April 30, 2022. You can see the list for Europe here and the list in Canada here.

Thanks so much for joining me again today, hope you were inspired! Have a super day and hugs from Holland.

Ranunculus Romance

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I have an awesome “collage stamping” card using Ranunculus Romance. Wow, that is a hard word to type!! Did you know that a ranunculus is a bulb? You can read about them here and see how many beautiful colours they come in. Ranunculus Romance is great for vintage cards too. I was inspired to make this card by the talented Gail Ellis.

Ranunculus Romance Card

Here is my Ranunculus Romance card. I figured if I spell it often enough it will get easier! The ranunculus is also called a Persian Buttercup.

Ranunculus Romance collage card

I did a video tutorial for this card as well and I fussy cut the flower. Someone watching the video reminded me that there are indeed dies to go with this stamp set, so I looked into it. Indeed, there are dies! The reason that I did not have the dies is not that I forgot. Collage stamping is the primary reason that I got this stamp set and I didn’t think I would utilize the dies enough to justify the cost. You can decide that for yourself!

Video Tutorial

Rather than type out how I made the card, you can just watch the video here. I would be most grateful if you clicked on the bottom right corner of the video where it says “watch on YouTube”. It would be even more awesome if you subscribe to my channel and comment and share the video. This is the modern version of “word of mouth” which is the best form of advertising. Thanks for being a part of my stamping community!!!

Supply List

Did you know that the supply list for my cards is always listed at the bottom of my blog? I also share it in my YouTube videos. There are two little words beneath the description of the video. “Show more”. If you click on that you get a LOT more information including the links to my Stampin’Up! store and to my favourite Amazon products. With this video I used a great little bow maker. Mine came from a friend in the States, but it is much easier for you to get them from Amazon (or find a handy carpenter to make you one, in that case you can use the Amazon image as inspiration!) Click here to see it.

Thanks!

Thanks again for joining me today, I really appreciate you “stopping by”. Happy stamping and have a super day!

Stack and Shuffle Cards

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. This Stack and Shuffle Cards post was supposed to be for Monday, but I couldn’t wait until then to share it. This is such a fun way to use your patterned paper and make a bunch of fun cards all in one go. Would you like to make these cards along with me?

Stack and Shuffle Cards

I am planning to make these cards during my Cheer Corner video which I do every Monday at 10am EST. Not only can you create along with me, you can also nominate someone that I should send one of these cards to. This is what you will need to have handy to play along.

  1. Paper trimmer.
  2. Four card bases that will coordinate with your patterned paper. I am using 8 1/2″ by 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.
  3. Four pieces of patterned paper 4″ by 6″.
  4. Four pieces of white or vanilla for the inside of your cards 4″ by 5 1/4″. You can also use computer paper.

I will be using the Friendly Hello bundle from Saleabration. Big thanks to Debbie Henderson for this awesome idea. Please check out her blog and her cards here.

If at First You Don’t Succeed…

Take a close look at the cards below. Do you see the one on the bottom left? That was the first card I made using this technique and I had eyed it wrong. I was told to leave a 1/4″ margin, but really you only need 1/8″ so that one is a little wonky, but it will still be sent out. It’s the love that counts!! After the first mistake the rest turned out beautifully even when I mixed up the patterns by accident!

Stack and Shuffle cards using Friendly Hello Bundle from Stampin'Up!

I also used Tailor Made Tags dies, memento black ink and pool party ink. The cards were finished off with fresh freesia ribbon. My sentiment comes from Flowing Flowers. isn’t it amazing how many different products you end up using for your cards? That is not necessary of course, but the more you have, the more you use!! I remember the days when I had only one stamp set and two ink pads and I had a lot of fun with them.

A Little More About Amazon

The other day I became an Amazon associate for the simple reason of trying to earn a little extra money by recommending products that I really love. When you use my link it will cost you no extra money, but I will earn a small commission, not only from the product that I recommended to you but from anything that you add to that order! If you have any questions or have some products that you have used in your papercrafting, I would love to hear about them!

I am planning to order this devotional book today, it was recommended to me by my friend Karen. Lent has started where we focus on what Jesus has done for us on the cross. I can use all the help I can get to keep me on track with spending more time with Jesus.

White Gel Pen

Do you remember when Stampin’Up! sold a white gel pen? It was wonderful to add some detail to coloured flowers and I missed it so much when they discontinued it. I found a great one on Amazon that was recommended to me by a fellow stamper. It’s not cheap but it lasts a long time and works very well!

Video Tutorial

Seeing is believing, so check out the video that I made for this technique.

Thanks for joining me and have a super weekend. The sun is shining and my heart is happy.

Wild Cats

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. Today’s card  features the fun stamp set Wild Cats. I am going to have to channel my own inner wild cat as I am pretty sure that I have COVID. Gerard tested positive yesterday and today I have the symptoms as well. Will get officially tested today. In the meantime, I don’t feel too badly, a scratchy throat and a bit of the chills. Let’s take a look at my card, it could get interesting!!

Wild Cats Card

I originally made this card for my weekly Cheer Corner videos. It was a lot of fun to make and I am looking forward to making some more cards with it. Nice to make a card that doesn’t have flowers on it!! I love flowers as much as the next person but it does feel very refreshing to have a different subject matter.

wild cats card

What???? Do you see that bottom picture? It’s miniscule! I’m going to have to take another picture so that you can see the detail in the card. Sometimes my camera plays tricks on me. I wanted to share the photo anyways so you can get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes in a blog post. If you look closely, you can also see that I forgot to put my watermark on them. COVID brain!! At least that is my excuse for the next couple of days.

More Inspiration

Here are a few more cards that I would like to CASE (copy and share everything) if I have time.

Stamping in the Meadows Wild Cats card

This card is by Akiko Sudano from Stamping in the Meadows.

I love how she focused on the patterned paper in this suite and only stamped her sentiment.

Wild Cats card by Michele Zindorf

I am really looking forward to giving this card a try! Michelle Zindorf is an amazing artist and creates lovely scenes with brayered and sponged backgrounds. You can check out her blog Freedom in Creating here.

The last card that I am going to share from other demonstrators is from Mary Deatherage. This is a triple-twisted easel card for those of you who love a challenge! Mary’s blog is called Stamps’n’Lingers. Be sure to check out her blog because it includes a video on how to make this card.

Case The Catalog

Did you know that I often go to the catalog when I do my Stamping Through My Stash videos? It is a great place to start for inspiration. My wild cats card came from there. Take a look at the photo below and see if you can find it.

How to Video

Sometimes it is just really nice to see how a card is made, and perhaps to see if I mess up along the way!! Here is my video, if you like it please share and be sure to subscribe so you get notified when I post another video.

Penguin Playmates: Discover Your Inner Child!

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you! Today I am sharing with you Penguin Playmates. Discover your inner child when you play with this fun paper and make cheerful cards. Penguin Playmates is going to be the focus of my January Parcels in the Post. Today I made one of these cards for my Cheer Corner. Would you like to see it?

Penguin Playmates Cards

I actually took a picture of both cards. One features a sentiment from the Penguin Place bundle and the other one has a sentiment from Joyful Life. How fitting!

Winter Cards using Cut out Creatures from Penguin Playmates Paper

I have always loved winter. Perhaps it has to do with growing up on a farm. Winters on the farm were cozy. It was snug in the barn with all the animals and it was magical to play upstairs in the barn in the haymow and to build tunnels and forts there. The very best part is that our farm house was built on a hill that was great for tobogganing. When I see fantastical creatures in snow clothes, that makes my inner child very happy indeed. What about you? Do you have winter stories to tell?

The Inside of the Card

This was the first time that I had used this stamp set and I had forgotten that it has some Christmas elements to it. The adorable hedgehog is carrying a bowl of something yummy and the bowl has a sprig of holly in it. I’m not sure if the bowl is full of apples or donuts or cookies. What does it look like to you? There is also a saying that says Season’s Greetings. The happy pig in this stamp set appears to be holding a takeaway cup of hot chocolate or coffee, either that or a weirdly shaped microphone!

Parcels in the Post

Tomorrow at 10am EST I will be doing my second video for the Winter Parcels in the Post featuring the Peaceful Deer bundle. You can get your very own Parcel in the Post by clicking here. Porch pickup is $25 and mailed anywhere in Canada is $32. My next Parcel in the Post will feature this cute Penguin Place paper with coordinating cardstock, snowflakes, ribbon and perhaps some shimmer paper. I haven’t quite finalized the details yet. Stay tuned!!

Thanks!

Thanks for joining me today. I think I am just about over my jet lag so I will soon be sharing what is happening here in Holland. Yesterday many many Dutch people were celebrating as a Dutchman, Max Verstappen won the world Formula 1 Racing Cup. The best part for me? It was a Canadian who helped make that happen! Have a super day!

Cheer Corner

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Cheer Corner. That is the name of a weekly video I am doing on my personal Facebook page. My goal is to reach non-stampers and to show them that you really CAN change the world one card at a time. I have done Cheer Corner off and on for a couple of years. What I used to do is post a card and then ask people to nominate who I should send it to. Now I am taking it a step further.

Cheer Corner

Never underestimate the power of a hand made, handwritten card. People are touched when they get happy mail and even more so when the card was made from scratch. It is such an easy way to make a difference in someone’s life. Here is the video that I made this morning.

Anyone Can Do It

The other purpose of my newly revised #cheercorner is to show people how easy it is to make a card. With a few key tools you are all set. You don’t have to have everything but the kitchen sink. Ink, paper, stamps and a paper trimmer will get you a long ways. True, the other stuff is nice to have but it is not essential.

Speaking of the Basics

Speaking of the basics, tomorrow is an incredible day. It is the start of a really fantastic sale. This one makes sense and it is a reason to celebrate. Stock up on your cardstock, ink pads and dies. Ok, the dies aren’t essential but at 20% it’s a great deal.

Seasonal Sale flyer for November 18, 2021

Here is the host code that you can use when you place your order. Only use the host code if your order is less than $200. If it is more than that then you qualify for host benefits. How awesome is that??

Lousy Picture, Great Cards

Here is a photo of my #cheercorner cards. I shouldn’t have put them on the buffalo plaid table runner, it is too distracting. Now it is dark so I cannot take a better picture. I just noticed that there is even a shadow in the picture, but if you want to get a better look, check out the video.

#cheercorner cards using Happiest of Birthday and Sunny Sentiments

Thanks!

Thanks so much for joining me. This is going to be an epic week. I am going wedding dress shopping with my sister on Wednesday and on Friday Pap will turn 95 Lord willing! Wow. So much to celebrate.  I hope you have a super day.
