Celebrate Sunflowers In Colour

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today we are looking at a beautiful card made using Celebrate Sunflowers In Colour. Thanks to Cheri Turner for this lovely card. I really think this is the most ingenius card that I have seen that uses all five of the new in colours on one card. Do you want to see it?

Cheri’s Card

Here you can see Cheri’s Celebrate Sunflowers card. Sometimes when you try to use all the in colours on one card it can seem forced. This card is anything but. I really love how Cheri offset the squares for a very modern look.

If you want to see another card using the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set, check out this blog post.

Moyock, North Carolina

Cheri comes from Mayock, North Carolina. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the postmark on the envelope. It said Raleigh, North Carolina. I was supposed to fly into Raleigh from Detroit on September 3 to meet Gerard there. From there we would rent a car to go to Pantego, North Carolina to see his cousins. With COVID, that is no longer going to happen! It was especially relevant and meaningful to get happy mail from there! Thanks so much Cheri!

Moyock is a small town just south of Norfolk, Virginia. It has a claim to fame for greyhound racing, but when this was outlawed they used the track for Nasgar racing instead. Moyock is becoming popular as a “bedroom community” and I have seen lots of beautiful homes there online. People like living in a small town and commuting to work in the big city.

Moyock is part of Currituck County which is also a part of the famed Outer Banks. This is also on my bucket list to see.

This looks pretty ideal to me. I could pack our huge picnic basket in the car and a big cooler and there would no hauling necessary. Doesn’t the water look sublime?

In Colour Club

When I get back home and classes start again in September, I will be offering an In Colour Club. Let me know if you are interested. I have some information on it already, you can see it here.

Thanks!

Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you! Today’s card features Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade and is made by Carol Koroleski from Conklin Michigan. Thanks so much Carol for your beautiful card! Before we take a look at your card, let’s find out where Conklin, Michigan is.

Conklin, Michigan

Michigan is actually a neighbour state to Ontario but with COVID19 it feels very far away. The oft traveled border in Windsor and Detroit remains closed. It used to be so easy to cross over into “the States” for a fun day of shopping or sight seeing. Hopefully this sad state of affairs will end soon and will not become the new normal.

Conklin is three hours and forty minutes from Chatham and lies between Grand Rapids and Grand Haven. Grand Haven is only twenty miles away and is on the shore of Lake Michigan which in my opinion is the most beautiful of the Great Lakes. The sand is like brown sugar and the water is super clear. Conklin is also known for its cherries. Michigan cherries are so, so good! Great for baking and for eating fresh. The orange “1” is where Conklin is.

Conklin, Michigan

In my search for images of Conklin I came across this page and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The first “castle” featured is a place that I stayed at years ago for my birthday getaway. How much fun is that? Who knows, I might even have driven right through Conklin. Pictured below is Henderson Castle in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Carol’s Card

Carol used the colours Just Jade and Cinnamon Cider on this card as well as the stamp set Forever Fern. It was so very helpful that Carol included a note explaining what she did and what she used. Carol definitely stepped it up by sponing the linen ribbon with Cinnamon Cider ink and the vellum was also coloured with Cinnamon Cider. If you look in the product list below you will see all the other products used. If you live in Canada you can order online through me and if you do so and you use the host code, you can be entered into a Mystery Host draw. Contest ends August 3.

Off to the Beach Soon

Today is 27C and it might get even hotter. Yes, this is considered a very hot day in Holland! The crazy thing is that the locals who live so close to the beach often choose not to. Either the sand is too hot or the sea is too cold. Crazy Dutch people! On the other hand, the traffic reports say that the roads are clogged with people trying to get to the beach. Isn’t that ironic?

Gerard’s house is about one kilometre to the beach and his dad’s place is just across the road from the beach. Mind you, there is a big dunes area in between so you cannot see the sea from his house but you can hear the waves on a clear day.

This is the walk way to the beach that we use every day. I have walked it, biked it and sat on the back of a scooter. I have seen horses on this path as well!

Even though I know that seagulls can be a pest, they are beautiful to watch. There is some other type of waterfowl here as well, perhaps from the sandpiper family. I wish I had my “good” camera with me!

I hope to go live on Facebook in fifteen minutes. Most days I am live at 3pm in the Netherlands or 9am in Ontario, Eastern Standard Time but not on weekends.

Mystery Host Contest

If you order online using the host code you can be a part of the mystery host contest and win the host benefits! Contest ends August 3. You also get free bonus bucks. $6 with every $60 purchase, so that is also a great perk.

Cinnamon Cider: the Last In Colour

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday. Cinnamon Cider is the last in colour to be reviewed and it is interesting to note that I inadvertently called it a “sweet” brown when I tried to use it to colour a dock. Cinnamon cider is sweet, so the description is appropriate. So far I have made only one card with it, but I am looking forward to the many possibilities with this new colour!

Cinnamon Cider

For this card I kept it super simple and used the stamp set See the Good. How can I possibly express how much I love this saying? Some people just restore your faith in the world by who they are or what they say or do. That is what we are all called to do; to be the good in the world! To be a reflection of the One who made us, the one who loves us and the one who wants to save us all. All the stamps used on this card are from the stamp set See The Good. You can find it on page 79 of the annual catalog.

Cinnamon Cider Card

I matted the white panel on our new brass metallic paper. I sponged the cinnamon cider panel with ink as well after I embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. The three flowers stamped in Misty Moonlight add just the right pop of colour and also showcase the fact that Cinnamon Cider and Misty Moonlight pair very well together.

Free Tutorial

Did you know that if you place an online order with me using the current host code that you get a free pdf tutorial from me? You can also get this amazing tutorial for free if you are a team member or a member of my demonstrator training group. This month all of the 16 projects are 3D. It is a lot of fun collaborating with 15 other talented demonstrators to make this tutorial.

Rhine River Valley Views

I thought I would include a short video I took on the gondola chair lift in Ruddesheim, Germany. Traveling vicariously through someone you know is better than not traveling at all!

Here is the view of the town we stayed at from across the river.

Magenta Madness: New In Colour Number Four

Hello stampers and happy Tuesday to you. Today I am featuring Magenta Madness, In Colour number four. Not all in colours are created equally and after a while we all have our favourites. Do you already know which one is your favourite? The jury is still out for me as I think I need to play a little more with all of them before I make up my mind. What really makes a difference for me is which patterned paper has the in colours in it. Let’s take a closer look at Magenta Madness.

Magenta Madness

Truthfully I wasn’t too sure about Magenta Madness. It is a strong colour to be sure! Then I saw this adorable patterned paper from Flowers for Every Season and it changed everything.

Magenta Madness

This is very much a monochromatic card except for the strip of patterned paper which really pops against the Magenta Madness background. The saying from Tasteful Touches is also stamped tone on tone with Magenta Madness. Meadow Moments is the name of the embossing folder that I used at the top of this card. It is a narrow embossing folder that measures 6 1/4″ by 3 3/8″ so that it fits into the Mini Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and it comes in a set of two.

A Travel Story or Two

Yesterday we came back from our long weekend away in Germany. What an amazing weekend we had!! Of course after being separated for five months and not being able to travel at all, it was even more special. I can only say that if you ever get a chance to go to Germany, be sure to go to the Middle Rhine Valley. Within a one hour drive from Rudesheim there were at least thirty castles!! That was only going in one direction, I didn’t count the ones driving the other way. Here are just a few pictures from inside the last castle we visited: Burg Rheinstein.

What I loved most about this castle is that little stairs up to the pinnacle of the tower. I walked up those stairs and boy is it far, far up!! I didn’t look down until I was at the top protected by a small wall. The other amazing thing is that it built right on the rocks of the mountain making it look like it is carved right out of the stone itself!

Do you see the ink well and the feather pen on the desk? Just like the stamp set Beautiful World on page 26 of the annual catalog!!

View from the other side of the Rhine

Part of our “romantik” tour was a chair lift down the mountain to a “red wine village”. On the chair lift there was a stunning view of the two castles on the other side of the Rhein river (yes, we spell it differently in North America) The other castle that you can barely see on the right hand side of my photo is called Burg Reichenstein.

So Much Beauty

I could just keep posting more pictures of all the beauty that I saw this past weekend, but I will end with a picture of the two of us and then one of me in my “little black dress” that I promised I would share with you. There is a little bit of a story behind that dress. I bought it from my cousin Yolanda who owns a fashion boutique just north of Guelph three years ago right before I went on my trip to France and Thailand.

This was the first time that Gerard saw me wear it because I felt a little self conscious in it. As women we are often way too hard on ourselves and by doing so we miss out on some great things. I’m so glad I mustered the courage to wear this dress, and when I look at this picture of me, I think, what is wrong with me that I didn’t dare wear this?! So I will try harder to practice what I preach and be kinder to myself.

Magenta Madness Geraniums

Thanks!

Thanks for visiting my blog today, I hope you are also starting to fall in love…with magenta madness that is. I just noticed that the colour of the geraniums in my picture with Gerard are exactly that colour too!! How amazingly coincidental is that? Have a super day, and don’t forget that if you live in Canada, you can shop with me simply by clicking on the links below.

Just Jade: New In Colour 2020-2022

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am introducing you to Just Jade, a lovely new In Colour from Stampin’Up! from 2020-2022. If you have any doubts at all about this colour, just pair it with the Forever Greenery designer series paper and you will fall in love! Let’s take a look at my simple card.

Forever Fern Card with Just Jade

Forever Fern with Just Jade

Isn’t this card just a breath of fresh air on a hot day? I left this card behind in Chatham, so I am guessing at the measurements. The Just Jade piece is 1 3/4″ by 5 3/8″ and I ran it through the Greenery embossing folder. The Forever Greenery paper is 2 3/8″ by 5 3/8″. Adhere them to the card front and then tie the gold metallic trim from the Forever Greenery trim combo pack around twice ending with a nice big bow. The saying is from Forever Fern and is of course stamped in Just Jade.  The die is from Tasteful Touches bundle.

Thanks!

Thanks for joining me today; I will be back next week with stories from Germany. If you want any of these beautiful products, just click on the link below. You can only shop with me if you live in Canada. Live in the United States? Just click on the shop with Julie button and you will be all set! Let her know I sent you!! Have a great weekend and see you again on Tuesday.

Bumblebee: A New In Colour

Hello stampers and happy Thursday. Yesterday was a strange day with some crazy blog issues, but today I can finally share with you the gorgeous Bumblebee, one of the five new in colours from Stampin’Up! On this fun card you see Bumblebee cardstock in the background run through the Old World Paper embossing folder, Bumblebee ribbon on the tag and Bumblebee ink for the saying. It pairs really well with Misty Moonlight don’t you think?

Tasteful Touches

There are so many wonderful new products in our new annual catalog and I sometimes get a couple of them mixed up. Tasteful Touches (page 124) and Beautiful World (page 26) both have a similar font and they have a feather stamp. I have found that I am often using these two suites together. Needless to say, the saying and the feather are both from Tasteful Touches and the patterned paper and the embossing folder are both from the World of Good suite.

Out and About

Yesterday we went to Delft which is about 25 minutes from Gerard’s house. Our trip was not as tourists but to find some things for the kitchen. I was amazed at how big this store was! It is a wholesale store for the hospitality industry and you can find all kinds of food, cooking and baking supplies, display merchandise, accessories and furniture for restaurants. Gerard was keenly aware that I could have spent all day there just browsing through. Just a little bit dangerous. The wine selection alone was vast!!

The Joy of the Beach

Every day we take Bailey for a walk on the beach which is just across the road from one of the greenhouses. It is amazing how every day it is still somehow different. There are different beautiful things washed up on the beach. The tide is different; the wind; the sun or the rain and the other people with or without their dogs. Sometimes you can even encounter a horse!! Or his rather large droppings. Apparently there are no rules against horse poop on the beach! Dog poop is another story. Either way, what a blessing to be together on such a beautiful beach. God is good!

Happy Mail in Holland contest

Please don’t forget about sending me a card in Holland! Please use current Stampi’Up! products and then I will feature you on my blog as well as enter you into a contest for the stamp set of your choice worth up to $30. I will ship it anywhere in the world if you win. If you mail it by July 31 I should get it in time. Hopefully I will be in Holland until August 29. Jackie Bultje, Bloemenlaan 6, 2691 JC ‘s-Gravenzande, The Netherlands.

Ways to Support Me

Thanks so much for joining me today, and thanks for your patience. I just read online about some Dutch demos who had to go back to their regular jobs and stop doing Stampin’Up! fulltime. This was largely due to COVID19 and the loss of income from not being able to do in person classes. That is why I am asking for what I need!

If you live in Canada, you can shop with me online, just click the links below in the product list. Anyone can buy my tutorials which will give you instant stamping gratification and help you get the most out of your stamping supplies. Are you a fellow demonstrator and want to learn from someone who has been around for a while and has received awards in every category? Join my training group!! It’s only $5 a month and I would love to help you grow your own business. I appreciate each and every one of you and I hope you feel the love!
