Pretty Pansies Cut From Paper

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. Today I am going to share a card with you that is made with pretty pansies cut from paper. I came home to this beautiful card made by Susan Forsythe for our local Hospice. The Hospice sends out cards on the one year anniversary of their loved one’s death. Such a wonderful thing to do and I have volunteered to spearhead this project. Thankfully there are some lovely stampers who help me out so that there is a steady supply of cards. Let’s take a look at what Susan did with the pretty pansies cut from paper.

Pretty Pansies Cut From Paper

The Pansy Patch bundle is really spectacular or perhaps I should say the Pansy Petals Suite. Not only are there beautiful layered stamps that you can use to create stunning pansies, you can also use the intricate dies to create your own style of pansies. For instant gratification you can also use the dies to cut the pretty pansies straight from the patterned paper. Susan did just that and then she took it a step further and separated the petals popping some of them up for a very striking 3D effect.

I really do love everything about this card. The new Fresh Freesia cardstock is the perfect background for this pretty paper. The leaves are two dies layered over top of each other using Evening Evergreen. Do you know where the pretty lacy die is from that is the background for the sentiment? It is the Ornate Layers DIes found on page 164 of the annual catalog. Here is a close up of the pansies.

A Little Story

Did you know that I grew up on a dairy farm? I have two brothers and one sister and my older brother by 7 years is a well read introvert. He tends to live vicariously through me and he has often had big plans for my life. When I was 17 he read an article in the local newspaper asking for contestants for a Queen of the Furrow competition. The winner of the local competition would appear at local agricultural events for the year and then compete at the International Plowing Match for the Ontario title. One of the requirements was to plow. I had never plowed in my life!

This was no obstacle for my brother. He would teach me. So the morning of the local plowing match, I was in a huge tractor with a six furrow plow. We went up and down the field a few times until my brother was satisfied with my skill level.

When we got to the local plowing match in the afternoon I discovered that competition plowing is a whole different animal!! The furrows are measured for depth and width and need to be arrow straight. Thankfully there was a young “Junior Farmer” who loaned me his equipment and was my coach. I still don’t know how I scored on the plowing part of the competition but I must have done all right with the interview and the public speaking. I won the contest and a few years later I did go on to win at the International Plowing Match. What an interesting chapter in my life.

Criss-Cross Card with Sweet as a Peach

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I have a Criss-Cross card for you. I saw one by Leena Girsa on Instagram and I loved the look of it. I haven’t made one of these in years!! Guess what? It’s so simple and so much fun to do. I will be doing a video on it next Thursday in my Prime Time group. This card will also be a part of the monthly lineup for Virtual Coffee and a Card class in July. Let’s take a look.

Criss-Cross Card

The you’re a Peach designer series paper lends itself perfectly to this style of card because the patterns coordinate so beautifully together. I think I may have fallen in love with the criss-cross card.

Here you can see what the insert inside looks like. Of course you could stamp the inside with another sentiment and more peaches but I left it plain with just a 1/4″ by 5 1/4″ strip of patterned paper. If you make a criss-cross card, I would love to see your creation!

How Does it Work??

Well, that’s a loaded question. Do I mean how does the card work, or do I mean, how does the Demo Design Dream Team work? First the card. You actually take two card bases, each 4 1.4″ by 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ and then trim one card front on both of them and layer them together. The following picture will help. The rest of the instructions are in the DDDT tutorial.

The Demo Design Dream team is a group of 14 very talented demonstrators across North America. Actually, I think it is all Americans and I am the token Canadian!! Together we create a monthly tutorial which is free with a $60 purchase. Very soon I will be posting previous tutorials which will now be available for sale at $15 each. Each month has a theme, so you will undoubtedly be able to find something you love. Tutorials help you create beautiful cards with no stress. You can see all my tutorials here.

In Person Class Soon??

I am really hoping to be able to offer my first in person class in a very long time. Tentative plans are for Tuesday July 20 at 9:30am. Cost will be $25 for four cards and of course coffee, tea and treats. If there is a lot of interest I will offer an afternoon and evening session as well. If you bring someone new then you will each only pay $20. The class will be the same one that I am doing for my virtual coffee and a card. Makes sense doesn’t it?

My stamping community is strong and vibrant and we truly do feel like a big family without the stress! I hope you have a super day.

A Good Man Magic Slider Card

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am going to be sharing with you a Magic Slider card for Father’s Day. Once you make one of these you will be hooked. It is so much fun to pull up on the tab and see the magic happens. When you first look at the front of the card you see a plain line image. When you pull the tab up, the image becomes a beautifully coloured scene!! I did a video yesterday for my Prime Time group to show how it is made. I plan to do more!!

Magic Slider Card

Of course, if I was uber organized I would have posted a Father’s Day card a month ago so that you would have wanted to order this great stamp set, A Good Man. I hope you will still want to buy it. Of course that would make me super happy and you would also get a free tutorial of your choice as well as a package of Artistry Blooms adhesive backed sequins as a thank you.

Recent Absence

Hello stampers and belated and late happy Wednesday to you! I wanted to explain my recent absence. You know it is not like me at all to not be consistent. I thought it would make me feel a lot better to just write a quick note to you all!!

Recent Absence

Tomorrow it will be a week since I got home from the Netherlands. It is always a bit of an adjustment to go from being with the person you love so much to being apart. Once again I have to do a mandatory 14 day quarantine. Usually I go crazy in my stamp room, but this time I ventured into the garden instead. It felt so good to attack all the weeds and to create some new flower beds as well. Truthfully, I lost myself in nature and I decided that was ok. It must have been what I needed.

I also spent a lot of time on the phone with my siblings, with my mom and with my kids. This too was a wonderful thing. Sometimes work has to take the back burner. For an independent business owner this is not an easy thing to do. Quite truthfully, I have also noticed that my sales are down a fair bit and that doesn’t feel good at all.

Nonetheless, I know that God is in control and that He is leading me to make the decisions that I am making and I have peace. I am no longer going to scramble like a mad woman trying to offer more classes and deals just to get people to buy. My customers will buy when and if they need to do so. I trust that my needs will also be met and I will find joy in sharing what I love.

Book and a Bath

For now I am going to run a nice deep, hot bath and read a good book. I made LOTS of beautiful cards today using the Sweet as a Peach suite which will be the focus for next month’s virtual coffee and a card class. If you want to sign up for that, I would be very pleased. You can do so here. On Friday I will be back in the saddle with lots of card pictures for you and hopefully there will be some videos tomorrow. In my Prime Time group I will be teaching a magic slider card. It took me about three hours to finally figure it all out (with some distractions of course). For the video tomorrow it will be much quicker I promise. If you want to join this great group you can! Here is the link.

Just a heads up that I cannot include stamped images in the kit, so you will definitely want to order this bundle to be able to finish off your cards in style!

The Pampered Stamper in Two Countries

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I am going to talk to you about The Pampered Stamper in two countries. What does this mean for you? How am I going to make this work? So many questions right? Let’s dig in and find out what is going to happen.

The Pampered Stamper in Two Countries

First and foremost, I will maintain and grow my Pampered Stamper business in Canada. This is where I started and have grown and built my business for fifteen years. My team and my customers mean the world to me and I don’t ever want to let you down.

You may have heard that I finally going to marry Gerard!! The date will be sometime in September 2022. That means that I will sort of move to Holland until 2026. The plan is that I will be three months in Holland, then one month back in Canada, etc. In the one month that I am home I hope to do in person classes and of course an in person team gathering.

COVID19 has had one blessing. It has forced me to take my business online completely. I had known for a while that this was the direction that I needed to move in, but I was unwilling to part with any of my in person classes. This meant double the work load! Of course this is unhealthy and also unsustainable. Being online now for a year has become the new normal and there is a lot of it that I truly enjoy. I am still trying to work out the best way to provide classes for you that are fun and affordable, and this is always a work in progress.

Why Become a Dutch Demonstrator?

The main reason is the same reason why I joined Stampin’Up! in the first place. I seem to need everything!! When I pack my suitcase to go I take one bundle for each week that I am gone but it is never enough. I always feel that I am stifled in my creativity. Since there was such a great deal on the starter kit I decided to go for it and fill in the gaps with what I truly needed. My starter kit was a practical investment but it still wasn’t fun! So I placed another order full of things that I loved.

The other reason is that I am starting to build my own network of family and friends here and I want to share what I love with them. That will mean workshops and classes and it just fantastic to be able to place these orders myself. Now I have to take the plunge and start creating with European sized cardstock which is narrower and longer than ours in North America.

If you want to hear my story, you can watch this video here.

How is this Possible?

All I needed to become a Dutch demo was a mailing and shipping address and a Dutch bank account. No social insurance or identity number was needed like in Canada. You don’t know if you don’t try!

Something to Share

This past weekend I celebrated my birthday a few days early and I was spoiled! The best present was being able to celebrate outdoors with a group of people. It felt like the old normal and it was wonderful. My upline and friend Caroline van der Straaten made me a great gift holder. I took a bunch of pictures because she always does such beautiful work. I didn’t watermark them at all because quite truthfully I am battling a rather nasty feminine issue right now which has made me quite grumpy and unproductive. This has made me feel a little ashamed because isn’t it easy to be happy when everything is going well? Not so easy when you are feeling crappy.  Another lesson in gratitude and patience which I would rather not have to learn.

This cute wooden crate was filled with locally grown vegetables to make a delicious ratatouille. Of course I immediately saw the pretty peach themed gift inside!!

Doesn’t this just blow your mind? I just love the coordination of all the different patterned paper and then the cute little details!! Caroline just does such exquisite work. Her little pockets, her bows, the little addition to the tags, it just goes on and on. She should just create and I will crow about it and show it all off. Sound good?? Even the back of this cute little package has been decorated. She doesn’t miss a thing. You can follow her on Instagram here.

Any Questions or Suggestions?

I would love to hear your questions or suggestions. What would YOU like me to offer in an online class? What do you see other demos doing that you would love to see ME do? If you have any other questions about how I plan to run The Pampered Stamper in two countries or if you would love to join my growing and very fun team, please contact me.

If you want to see another project made with You’re a Peach, check out this blog post. Are you on Instagram? Then you can follow me here. I hope you have a super day!!
