Hello stampers and happy Monday to you! Today I am going to share with you my original “toilet paper” card using Forever Fern. Forever Fern is a stunning “DistInktive” stamp set in the new annual catalog which goes live on Wednesday. Let’s take a look at this great card.
Forever Fern Toilet Paper Embossing Card
I made this card on my Facebook live video on Thursday and I shared this video in my blog post on Friday but now you get to see the finished card. I made a few little changes. Can you see them? I added another gold foil element from the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty paper on page 152 of the new annual catalog. The finishing touch was a few little gems from the Flowers for Every Season gems which come in clear and Just Jade.
Here is a close up of the card so that you can see how pretty the gems are and how lovely the ribbon combo is! I am going to be making this card for one of my clubs on Tuesday and I am going to switch it up again with different ribbon. I will be sure to share a picture on my Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Embossed Toilet Paper
I thought you might like to see what the embossed toilet paper looks like before I trim it down. If you want the step by step instructions, be sure to check out my blog post from Friday. You can see it here.
It is surprising how well this embossed toilet paper holds up to sponging with a sponge dauber! The embossing folders are all from the new catalog except for the one at the bottom, it is Parisian Flourish. If you want to see the products used in my card, check out the images in the product list below.
Online Bingo
Did you see that I am offering my first ever online Bingo? This fun event will be on Friday June 26 at 7pm EST. It is open to demonstrators and if you already have the stamp set that I am including in the fee then you can tell me which one you would like instead as long as it is the same value or less. Check out the details here.
Thanks for joining me! There will not be a regular Facebook live today as I am visiting my parents again. Now that I am home for a bit I want to take advantage of it and visit them more often. Time is of the essence! Have a super day. See you on Wednesday when the new catalog goes live!! What fun, I can’t wait because there are so many wonderful things to be ordered.
Hello stampers and happy Friday. I just couldn’t help declaring toilet paper essential for cards! Isn’t it just the perfect title for these COVID times? Truly, toilet paper is an essential component for the card that I am going to show you today.
Embossing With Toilet Paper
Yesterday for my daily Facebook live video I showed you how to emboss with toilet paper. I will include the video here but let me start by sharing a few simple instructions.
Use two ply white toilet paper.
You need four layers to make this work, you can just fold the toilet paper, no need to separate and tear the sheets.
Spritz the toilet paper lightly with a fine mist of water. You do NOT want to saturate the paper.
Place the toilet paper in your embossing folder, but not right up to the “hinge”, you don’t want it to bunch up.
Run through the die cutting machine and prepare to be impressed!
Allow your embossed toilet paper to dry for about fifteen minutes before altering it.
Do NOT use a regular paper trimmer to cut your embossed toilet paper, it will tear. Use a guillotine cutter or a rotary cutter or even a pair of scissors with long blades.
My Card
I thought it would be fun to share a card that I did not make during the video yesterday. On Monday I will share the cards from the video. This cards uses a beautiful new suite from the annual catalog that will go live on June 3. It is called World of Good. The coordinating embossing folder is called Old World Paper. There is brass foil sheets but they were not available when I ordered so I used copper on my card. I can’t wait to see the brass foil sheets!
This card base is the new Misty Moonlight as is the globe image. The words and the sponging were done in crumb cake. Do you see the nice detail beside the patterned paper strip? That is a die from the World Map dies. Isn’t it amazing how textured the toilet paper became? This is such an impressive technique, I can’t wait for you to try and let me know how it turned out.
Close-up of Embossed Toilet Paper
This picture really shows the depth of the embossing with toilet paper. I sponged crumb cake ink over it with a sponge dauber being sure to “land lightly” and use a circular motion.
This technique is not my original idea, it has been around for a while, but I was recently inspired by British demonstrator Terri Pocock. You can check out her blog here. Thanks so much Terri for your inspiration.
Technique Video
Here is the Facebook live video that I did showing you how to do this technique. Seeing is believing! I try to post most of my videos to YouTube, so feel free to subscribe to my channel so you don’t miss any.
New Catalog Goes Live June 3
You will be able to get these products on June 3 when the catalog goes live. There are two great things happening to make this even more special.
If you host a workshop, and yes, you can host a virtual workshop, you will get $30 extra host dollars if you have a $300 workshop.
If you choose to get the awesome deal on the starter kit you get to choose a bonus bundle. That means any stamp set with a coordinating punch or any stamp set with the coordinating dies. Wow!
Both of these deals are available until June 30.
Thanks so much for joining me today, I hope to see you for my Facebook live video at 1pm. Before I sign off, I thought it would be fun to share my most popular blog post. It features the Birthday Memories cards that I made for my first ever OnStage presentation the day after my first grandchild Leo was born. You can see it here.
Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. Masculine Mountain Air! Doesn’t that sound wonderful just about now? Well, I might not be able to go to the mountains right now, but I can create with this great stamp set.
Do you struggle with making masculine cards? If you do, you might want to first check out these cards and then decide if this very affordable stamp set is for you. It was my experience that Mountain Air was a pleasure to stamp with as well as an exciting one, since it has reversible stamps!
Mountain Air Cards
The sayings on all the cards are from the Share Sunshine pdf which is COVID-19 fundraiser. There are fifteen pages that you can print off for lots and lots of great sayings for this unique time in history. This pdf is only available until June 2. All proceeds go to United Way and the World Health Organization. Click here if you want to purchase it.
This card uses the reverse side of the mountain stamp for a great silhouette. I used the High Seas embossing folder for the water and it I just noticed that it is retiring AND it is 25% off, so you might want to add this one to your collection if you don’t have it yet.
If you look closely you can see that I stamped a soft seafoam “meadow” between the mountains and the forest. The water was sponged with balmy blue ink.
The irony of this sentiment placed on the mountains makes me smile. Do you see the mountain silhouettes? They were stamped and then stamped again without reinking using night of navy. This is the reverse side of the mountain stamp! Pure genius don’t you think? I also double stamped the trees to get that nice silhouette effect. The mountains were stamped in smoky slate and in basic grey.
This last card uses mountain and tree dies as well as tissue paper from Paper Pumpkin to make the water. The mountains were stamped on smoky slate cardstock in smoky slate and in basic grey. Garden green and mossy meadow and the colours of the trees. Here is the video I did yesterday showing you how to make this card step by step.
What do you think?
I would love to know what you think about this stamp set after seeing all these cards. Yesterday and Monday I did my live videos using this great stamp set. If you are local and you want this stamp set, I may just be able to help you out with some instant gratification! Here is the first video that I did on Monday. If you would like to see the very first card I ever made with this masculine Mountain Air stamp, you can check out this blog post.

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I am going to share with you a gorgeous swap card featuring a brand new set called Tasteful Touches. I think this will be set that I reach for again and again. The paper that goes with this stamp set, In Good Taste is stunning! Before we delve into the card I want to share a little bit about what has happened since I last blogged here.
The Past Week
If you follow me here on my blog or on my Facebook page, you may know that I was supposed to fly to Holland on Tuesday to be reunited with my love, Gerard. We haven’t seen each other since January 29! My trip has been canceled and postponed twice, but this time I really thought it was a go. KLM sent me reminder emails that my flight was on time, I could check in a day early and get my boarding pass sent to me electronically. When I got to the airport I went to the kiosk with my passport and this enabled me to print my luggage tag but not my boarding pass. I needed to speak to an attendant. Well. The attendant when seeing my Canadian passport said that it was impossible for me to fly. The only way to get in was with some sort of official letter stating a legitimate exception. This I did not have. There were maybe ten other people checking in and no line ups for anything. A very weird feeling!
Changing My Mindset
Of course it was a terrible disappointment to not be able to fly, but I knew that in order to make the best of my time, I needed to switch my mindset. My son had given me a ride to the airport after a visit to my parents, and he and his fiancée were going to go up to Owen Sound for a few days of hiking and biking. They were using my vehicle, so that meant I was staying with my parents for three days. That turned out to be such a blessing. Thursday was their 62nd anniversary and I was able to make it special for them. I picked up egg McMuffins for them for breakfast, a Too Tall lemon cake from M & M and then fish and chips from a little take out place in Elora for lunch. In the afternoon we went for a visit to the old farmstead and we enjoyed a lovely lawn visit with my brothers overlooking the hills and the valley where the cows used to graze and where we tobogganed and skated as children.
While we were sitting here a bald eagle flew right overhead, so low that I heard it before I saw it. At first I thought it was a drone!! How majestic and another highlight of a very special day.
There used to be a deck under the big window, but it had deteriorated and my brother just finished removing it. The back of the house is now a work in progress. The small door leads to the basement where my mom made hot cocoa for about 100 elementary school kids every year on the last day of school before the Christmas break. The whole school would come for a tobogganing party! There was also a coal bin down there as they used to burn coal to heat the house. I used the coal for my snowmen. So many good memories.
Pap and Mom enjoying their morning coffee and cake on the front porch. Pap is on oxygen now even though he doesn’t think he needs it. We are just so thankful that they can still be together in their own home.
Unexpected Blessing
When you go through difficult times, it can be really helpful to change the spotlight. By focusing my energy and attention on my parents, it gave meaning and purpose to not being able to travel. When they had their afternoon nap I was able to deep clean and declutter the kitchen. When you are 88 and 93 the daily vicissitudes of life are enough and there is no time or energy to do the extra things. Mom was so happy to see her kitchen restored to a neat and tidy space. I should have taken a picture!
Beautiful Weather
Together we were also able to take advantage of the beautiful weather and get a ton of dahlia bulbs planted. This is the one thing in their garden that they still do and they were both so happy to have this job done. It also gave us a chance to come together as a family to work together, my sister, my nephew, mom and me. Social distancing outside, each with our own gardening tool and some of us with gloves!
Mom was also so pleased with her tulips. She doesn’t believe in fences, that way the neighbours and the passersby can also enjoy the garden! These too are tasteful touches.
Tasteful Touches Card
Today’s card is a gorgeous swap card that I received from my team member Jessica Bégin. She used Tasteful Touches from the In Good Taste Suite. What a great suite this is! The paper is to die for, I know you are all going to want it as well as this stamp set. Let’s take a look at her card.
Jessica also decorated her envelope. I love the pop of colour with the washi tape and the saying is perfect for this COVID-19 time. The feathers were stamped in Basic Gray on the patterned paper “In Good Taste”. Do you see the details in the dies? They are also a part of this bundle. The saying on the envelope comes from Well Said. Don’t you just love the look of texture in this paper?!
If you want to see another post about patterned paper, check this one out. This paper is also retiring, so if you love it, get more of it now or at least before June 3.
More On Wednesday
I am trying to pace myself, so I will show you more of this suite on Wednesday. There will be some pictures of the stamp set and of the paper so you can see how awesome it is. Remember, you don’t have to wait to get these great products, they are part of the preorder that all demonstrators can take advantage of. That means YOU can put it in your starter kit as well. Here is the link to do just that, message me and I will send you the pdf of what is all included in the new catalog preorder.
Thanks so much for joining me today, I am looking forward to doing videos with you again every day this week. More #kitsforkids will be distributed as well and I think I will start another online auction of retired stamps. No need for boredom at 81 Delaware! Have a super day.
HInt: you can see the new products if you click on the images below in the product list.
Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I am using Flowers for Every Season Memories & More Cards. I wanted to show you how very easy it is to make stunning cards using the Memories & More collection. The cards and envelopes come in all the new in colours and they are white in the inside. Once again Stampin’Up! coordination makes it so simple to create and be successful. No stress, no fuss.
Memories & More Cards
I thought it would be a good idea to show you a card in each of the new in colours: Misty Moonlight, Just Jade, Bumblebee, Magenta Madness and Cinnamon Cider.
Simple Supplies
When everything coordinates it makes it really easy to create stunning cards. I simply used the Memories & More Flowers for every Season card pack and the coordinating In Colour Memories & More cards. I added the new In Colour 1/4″ ribbon and the new In Colour Enamel Dots. The stickers from the Memories & More pack are the icing on the cake. I chose to use the Tasteful Touches bundle for the sayings and the dies. These products will be available from the new catalog on June 3.
The Envelopes
In this picture you can see the envelopes and also how I used a larger Memories & More card for the inside of this card. I purposely didn’t stamp anything inside as I am not sure who the card is going to yet. It’s so nice that the insides of the cards are white!
Stepping It Up
You could easily step up these cards by using the new jar punch and the Jar of Flowers stamp set but I will save that for another day. I can promise you that you are going to LOVE the new catalog. Don’t worry though; if your wish list is long, just get the starter kit and join my team. You will get your very own discount, you can participate in my online training group and you might even build yourself a stellar and fun business doing what you love.
Just in case you want instant gratification, the items I used today are ALL available in our preorder. That means you can put them in your starter kit RIGHT NOW! Here is the link if you need a little COVID cure.
A Personal Note
Today I got two emails from KLM and it looks like I really will be flying out on Tuesday to be reconnected with the love of my life. I haven’t seen Gerard since January 29!! My plane will land on Wednesday morning at Schiphol in Amsterdam, so I know you will forgive me if there isn’t a blog post that day. I will be blogging again on Friday but I hope to connect with you by video on Facebook on Wednesday and Thursday. Thanks for joining me today, I hope you have a super day.
