Prized Peony

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. I am SO excited to share this beautiful new suite with you called Prized Peony. If you watch my daily Facebook live videos you will have seen the last two creations. Now you get to see them on my blog.

Prized Peony Perfection

One of the best things about Stampin’Up! is their coordination. This suite is no exception and it makes it so easy and so fun to create beautiful things. There is the stamp set with the coordinating dies, the matching paper, ribbon and gems. Wow! Such beautiful subtle colours that can be left muted or can be combined with other things for a dramatic pop of colour. You choose!

My Cards

This first card was made using a sketch challenge for a Canadian Direct Demonstrators meeting. I don’t often use sketches, but they are fun to do and it is always interesting to see what other people do with the same sketch.

Here is the sketch that I used so that you can see the measurements.

More Cards

During the video we had to choose which side of the patterned paper to use and the votes came in for petal pink. Of course I needed to now create a card with the other side too, just so that it wouldn’t feel badly! Here it is:

Prized Peony in Petal Pink and Grey Granite

Just in case you are wondering where the framelit from the sentiment came from, it is in the Tasteful Touches bundle. The last card I am going to show you is my very favourite. I love jewel tones so I am glad that I still have my Lovely Lipstick blends. If you missed out, I happen to have two extra sets! I did create the card with Rococo Rose as well and it is pretty too.

Prized Peony in Lovely Lipstick

I took a close up picture so you can see the sheen of the ribbon as well as the “cut” of the gems. They really are stunning and put your card up to the next level of awesomeness. Sympathy cards don’t have to be drab. The burst of colour represents the vibrancy and the love of the person who will be missed.

Rococo Rose Prized Peony

It would be unwise of me to only show you a card with a product that you can no longer get, so shove over Lovely Lipstick and make room for Rococo Rose. It turned out brighter than I expected and I am also curious if you could blend it with a little bit of real red for greater intensity.

Just in case you think you are seeing double, you are! For this picture I just laid my Rococo Rose peony on top of the Lovely Lipstick one. I didn’t feel like making another complete card.

My Video

Here is a video showing you how I made the first card. Just take a look at the first few minutes if you only want to see the paper and the coordinating items and not the actual making of the card. If you like it, please share so that others will follow my YouTube channel as well. Somehow this squirrel wants to get more views on YouTube. It remains a mystery to me that I have so many followers but so few views, so please help me!

Free Bundle Promotion

Yes, you can get this gorgeous Prized Peony bundle for free as a bonus when you get the starter kit. Here is the link to make it easy for you. It remains a mystery to me that not every single customer of mine would take me up on this offer. I would get another starter kit myself if I could! The savings are tremendous and it will feel like Christmas in June for you. Questions? Concerns? Don’t hesitate to message me and I will be happy to address them. In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and have a super day.

Emboss Resist: A Tried and True Technique

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday. Oh the magic of embossing! While this was one of the first techniques I learned, even before the die cutting machine, emboss resist takes it to a new level. Today I am going to show you two emboss resist cards that are very simple to do and very different in their finished look.

Emboss Resist

When you do an emboss resist card you start by embossing your image, usually in white but other colours work as well. Depending on which cardstock you used, you can either sponge ink over top of your embossed image or you can do a colour wash with an aqua painter over your image. With today’s cards I used a sponge and ink. If you watch my daily Facebook live videos at 3pm then you have seen me make this first sunflower card.

Echoing the Colours of Yesterday

I loved the colour combination so much from yesterday’s Bargello technique cards that I decided to replicate it on this card. Why not make the sunflowers funky rather than realistic? It is amazing how the card looks completely different just by switching up the colours and changing the shape of the sentiment. What I really like about both of these cards is the addition of a spattering of water droplets. You could use a toothbrush to do this but I had a flat brush that I use for brushing away excess embossing powder. Just wet the brush and then give it a sharp flick so that you get a few water droplets falling on your card. They leave a great watermark which you can then accentuate with frosted or clear epoxy droplets.

The Video

If you would rather see the technique rather than reading about it, check out this video. I am really enjoying hearing where everyone is from and watching the community grow. It would be great to hear from YOU. What do you like about the videos or my blog? The more interaction there is between me and my readers and viewers the more likely you will see and read what you want to. A great example of that was yesterday’s video. Someone had requested sympathy cards, so that is what I made.

A Fantastic Opportunity

Do you love stamping? Do you have a hard time narrowing down your wish list? Maybe it’s time to make a wise decision and get the starter kit. It could be that you just want your own discount and that is totally ok. In fact if you love to make cards or scrapbook, why are you not getting a continual discount on your products? If you live in Canada you can get the amazing deal on the starter kit through me. Just click here and you can pick out $165 worth of products PLUS a FREE bundle. If for example you chose the Prized Peony Bundle you would get a bonus of $78.25 which would cost you $96.25 as a customer. You also get a free Paper Pumpkin in your kit which is worth $35.

Do What You Love and Get Paid!

If you are truly passionate about making cards and also get great satisfaction from sharing what you love and what you know, then there is an amazing opportunity here for you. I cannot tell you enough how tremendously satisfying it is to own your own business, to develop it as you want and to be able to call your hobby your job! The best thing for you, not to brag, is to have ME as your upline because you get to benefit from everything that I have learned over the last fourteen years. I love to share with my team what made me get to the pinnacle of the stamping world in Canada and the world. Last year I was number four in Canada and number forty nine in the world out of more than fifty thousand demonstrators!

Thanks!

As always, thanks for popping over to read my blog. I truly appreciate you and I hope that you have a wonderful day. Take joy in the little things, find a way to brighten someone else’s day and get creative. See you at 3pm for my live video, I think I will be unveiling the Prized Peony bundle.

Bargello Technique

Hello stampers and happy Tuesday. Today I am going to share with you the Bargello technique, and yes, it is not Monday. Yesterday was my birthday and I took the day off! Despite the COVID pandemic, I had a most wonderful birthday. The only thing missing was the presence of my love, Gerard. Now, back to card making. Have you heard of the Bargello technique? Neither had I, so let’s see what it is all about.

Bargello technique

How did I discover this? Quite simply I saw this card from Tracy Tucker using strips of shimmery white cardstock that she had sponged in gorgeous colours. When I made the  card in a video I was informed by my viewers that this was the name of that technique. Basically you cut strips of paper and then arrange them so that they are offset from each other. Here is a tutorial from Splitcoaststampers and I will also share the video that I did.

My Card of Many Colours

I like calling this card “my card of many colours”, it reminds me of a song by Dolly Parton, Coat of Many Colours which I really love.

Bargello card

Here is the card before I put the sentiment on. I chose to remove the coastal cabana mat from the card that I cased from Tracy. The colours uses are melon mambo, pumpkin pie, mango melody, granny apple green and coastal cabana.

Bargello card without sentiment

Here you can see the two cards together. I accidentally flipped the card as well! Do you see that I embossed the flower on the melon mambo section instead of the coastal cabana? Which one do you like better? It was a happy accident.

Video

If you watch my video you will see how it is done. I really like the splatter at the end to make water droplets which are echoed by the Flowers for Every Season gems OR the frosted and clear epoxy droplets.

Shimmery White Cardstock

This is a fantastic product that I really, really love. It is great for sponging and for watercolouring. Here is another post that I did with shimmery white cardstock. It just so happens that I have more of these stamp sets AND the paper in stock if you are interested. Just message me and we can negotiate!

Thanks!

Thanks for joining me today and for all the lovely birthday wishes. I had a wonderful day yesterday and it was great to not work at all and just enjoy the way the day evolved. Here is a picture of me and my son Oliver. He was the organizer for the kids to get the gifts and to spoil me along with Laura.

Birthday girl

No, I am not drinking four glasses of wine! This cute table came with the picnic bag, isn’t it adorable and ever so functional? I also got silicone baking mats, a bicycle pump and a harness to hold my weed whacker so that my arms don’t almost fall off every time I do this garden chore.

I hope you have a super day!
