Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today we have another Happy Mail in Holland contest card using Dressed to Impress. Thanks to Sharon Meyer for this cute card. I absolutely love this paper and was so sad to see it retire. If you need some, I have extra!! Sharon’s card has a nice newsy letter inside which I just love. Let me share some of what Sharon wrote in her beautiful handwriting.
Farmington, New York
Farmington is about twenty miles east of Rochester, New York in the Finger Lakes district. I have heard of the Finger Lakes and that this region is really pretty, but I have only driven slightly north of them with the hope of someday being able to visit. Gerard and I hope to do a cross America and Canada road trip at some point and we will definitely be touring the Finger Lakes as well. Sharon goes on to say that she lives near Canandaigua Lake which is in wine country. Apparently there is such a thing as grape pie, but I have never heard of it or tried it. Sounds very intriguing. The Grape Festival didn’t happen this year because of COVID. So sad to miss all these wonderful events.
TripAdvisor tells me that one of the most popular things to do in Farmington is to visit the Antique Mall. I really do love antiques so I would probably listen to their advice! I was intrigued by the name of Sharon’s hometown because there is a town in MIchigan with the same name. Believe it or not, this town in Michigan was founded by one of the town fathers of the original Farmington!!
Another recommendation right up my alley was a wine tasting tour by Stomping Good Times. Who wants to come with me when we go visit Sharon? Sharon tells me that she has been a demonstrator for four years now and she has a small group of ladies that she stamps with. What fun!

The background of this pretty card by Sharon Meyer is lovely lipstick and it was embossed with the retired basket weave embossing folder. Sharon cut out one of the perfume bottle for the inside of her card. Thanks so much for this Happy Mail in Holland contest card. It’s always nice to get a card that says “hello fabulous”!
YouTube Live Videos start Tomorrow!
I am so excited that my weekly YouTube live videos start tomorrow. From now on, every Tuesday at 10am EST there will be a live video on YouTube for my virtual coffee and a card class. Everyone can tune in and comment and if you choose to, you can participate by purchasing the monthly card kit. Next month the kit will focus on Posted For You bundle. The kit is $25 per month and includes all the card components. I cannot include stamped images but I can include punched out items, embossed layers etc. You can choose to purchase the bundle that I am using online using the host code or you can substitute with stamps that you already have.

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. If you are like most stampers and scrapbookers, you love patterned paper. The problem is you love it too much and hoard it and forget to use it on your cards. Today I am going to show you a great card that showcases the beautiful coordination of our patterned paper. This is the fourth card in my Virtual Coffee and a Card class for December.
Patterned Paper Coordination
Playing with patterned paper is like playing with fabric. Did you know that I used to sew quite a lot when my children were small? My girls only wore dresses that I made for them; most of them with big bows tied in the back. That is why I still love tying bows. This card shows just how beautiful our pretty paper is. When you see the short form dsp, that stands for designer series paper. The reason it is called that is that our paper is designed by in house artists at the Stampin’Up! home office. Sometimes it is even hand painted designs!

Here you can see a closeup of all the pretty details in this Wishes & Wonder card. I love the stitched detail, the whimsical deer and of course the North Pole postmark stamp. The paper is called ‘Tis The Season.

Hello stampers and happy Friday. Today I have gone a little out of my comfort zone to design a geometric poppies card. I wanted to challenge myself and do something a little different. Geometric designs are not my strong suit but I am quite happy with how my card turned out. What style do you struggle with?
Geometric Poppies
All of my peaceful poppies designer series paper was laying out and I just love so many of the designs and wanted to combine them on a card. That is how I came up with the idea of doing a geometric design with poppies. I started out with cutting a bunch of circles and squares with the stitched shape framelits. I scattered them on my background paper and played around a bit with what looked good together. Truth be told, it took a few different design layouts before I was satisfied.
The smaller squares got turned diagonally to make them diamonds and they are also all popped up to create more interest and dimenstion. I toyed around with the idea of creating a banner for the sentiment, mostly because I wanted to cover up that tiny black mark that I made. The sentiment looked better stamped right on the card. A banner messed up the crisp lines of the geometric design. In the end I was playing around with needing just a little something extra and that is how I came up with the poppy from the Peaceful Poppies elements. It has been so much fun incorporating those elements into my peaceful poppy cards!

The Most Important Tool
I often forget to write about how often I use my stamparatus. It really is the most important tool! For this card I used it to stamp my sentiment. Especially if your ink pad is of a certain vintage, your sentiment might not turn out as dark and crisp as you like. If you use the stamparatus then you can stamp several times in the exact same spot for absolute perfection. You see, the stamparatus is a stamp positioning tool. A Little Vintage
Last night I caught up with some more cousins, this time it was two daughters from my mom’s favourite sister growing up. Tante Adrie (short for Adriana) was younger than mom by 16 months. She came to visit Mom in Canada when I was a year old and my cousins had some pictures from the visit for me. Some of them I had never seen before so that was really special!
The first time I looked at this photo of my Pap, I didn’t even see myself looking through the back window of the truck!!
With my mom my sister Adriana and my brother Oliver. I was about a year old here. Looks like I am either ready for a nap or just woke up!!
I’m pretty sure my dad made these little wooden chairs. This is me with my cousin Dan. It is so nice coming across pieces of your own history and to see how our stories intertwine. Thanks for indulging my walk through nostalgia!
Happy Mail in Holland
I just came back from a little shopping trip with Gerard’ sister. We hit a few used stores, they are called “kringloop” here. I found some great little leather shoes for the grandkids, some Royal Albert Old Country Roses dishes and a cute little book with all Dutch words for the grandkids. When I came home I checked the mailbox and there was happy mail. Thanks Gertie Boven, I will blog about your card tomorrow. I haven’t even opened it yet!
I just had to take a picture of these cute little “bikes”. They teach the littles how to have good balance so they can bike right away without training wheels.

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am going to be talking about Peaceful Moments, the stamp set, and peaceful moments with my Tante Nel. How fitting is that? In face, I am thrilled that the poppy suite is in the mini catalog because poppies are the flower that Canadians use to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of life of our soldiers. This year is the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Holland by Canadian soldiers from World War 2 and there will be epic celebrations all over Holland in May and I hope to be here again. Let’s take a look at the sets.
Peaceful Moments and Painted Poppies stamp sets
Painted Poppies Card
It really is just so lovely the way the paper, the stamps and the dies coordinate. I added some vellum to soften the patterned paper under my sentiment. I had these silver sequins laying around, I think they were from a Paper Pumpkin kit. Do you see the leaves? They are also cut from the Painted Poppies designer series paper.
I was curious to see what the card would look like with a black sentiment instead of highland heather. I also knew that you would want to see a card with a different sentiment. There are lots of great sentiments in the Peaceful Moments stamp set.
What is your preference? Do you see that I also added a stamped and coloured poppy to the sentiment? I like that extra pop of red.
Peaceful Moments Story Time
I haven’t forgotten my promise to tell you the story about my high tea with Tante Nel. Let me introduce Tante Nel to you. You see, my mother came from a family of fourteen children. Yes, fourteen!! All from one mother and one father. Tante Nel is my mom’s younger sister by thirteen years. She is also the aunt that first hosted me when I came to Holland as a fourteen year old teenager. I thought she was super cool, after all, she listened to and sang along with ABBA!! She wore makeup and high heels. Jeans!! Totally different than my mom. Without Tante Nel, I would never have met Gerard. He came to her house when it was my cousin Corrina’s 17th birthday. Gerard has always maintained his friendship with Tante Nel and her family.
Since Tante Nel had hosted me so many times over the years, I thought it was time that I hosted her for something. Therefore, I invited her to high tea at De Bosrand. I knew that this was a lovely little restaurant in a peaceful little corner of the world on the edge of the Staelduinse Bos. What a lovely time we had catching up on everything that was going on in our lives. Here is a picture of us and of some of the delicious treats we enjoyed.
I am sure that “high tea” is something different depending on where you go. I would consider this a “low” high tea in the sense that it is rustic and relaxed and utterly unpretentious. There is of course a tea pot with numerous choices of tea. There is a tiered tray with all little savoury sandwiches on the bottom and sweet treats on the top. In between all of this the waitress brought little cups of coup, a chicken satay, some sort of battered shrimp in a delicious sauce and who knows what else.
The best part of course was the company and the conversation. This is just another huge blessing of being in Holland, the possibility of seeing my Dutch relatives. It was wonderful to enjoy peaceful moments with Tante Nel over high tea.

Hello stampers and welcome to a rare Saturday blog post. Since I had an “oma” day yesterday, I thought I would do a blog post today. I am featuring Pressed Petals specialty designer series paper for my Tuesday coffee and a card class so this post will showcase those cards. My main point is that when you have beautiful paper like this, it needs to be the star of the show. You start with the beautiful paper, then you choose a coordinating cardstock, which is very easy to do just by looking at the description of the paper in the catalog. Right there it will tell you which colours are in the paper and that makes it simple to choose which colour you want to accentuate in the paper. Add a little texture with ribbon or embellishments, choose how you want to frame your sentiment and you are all set!
While these three cards all look very different, they all use the same collection of Pressed Petals specialty designer series paper. Each card just focuses on a different colour found in the paper. Which one is your favourite? I don’t have the Path of Petals stamp set yet that goes with this suite because the coordinating framelits were backordered. I also wasn’t sure if I needed another stamp set with flowers. After a second look at this set, I realize that I really do love the sayings in it, so it will be on my next order! I chose to use the Woven Heirlooms stamp set instead which I think is a very good fit too. Here are some close-ups of the cards.
It is a bit difficult to see in the picture that I used the Scripty embossing folder in the background on the Blueberry Bushel cardstock. It mimics the script of the sentiment from Woven Heirlooms. It may be a bit bright for a sympathy card but I feel that it is entirely appropriate if it is indeed a “celebration of life” event for someone who has lived a good, long life. Sympathy cards don’t always have to be dull and gloomy.
For this card I pulled the burlap theme from the background of the Pressed Petals patterned paper. I also distressed the background on the sentiment panel by stamping off with Rococo Rose and Woven Heirlooms. The sentiment was stamped in Merry Merlot. Both of these colours can be found in the Pressed Petals patterned paper. Layering the lace over the burlap ribbon evokes a lovely vintage feeling. You could also add some pearls if you wanted to.
This last card uses my favourite washi tape ever! It is called Pressed Petals specialty washi tape because one of the rolls actually uses individual flower petals that you can easily combine into different flowers. How awesome is that? The card also uses two of the coordinating sheets of the Pressed Petals designer series paper. I once again used the Scripty embossing folder for the background of this very vanilla card.
I am very excited to announce that I am going to start doing regularly scheduled weekly live Facebook sessions every Tuesday evening at 7pm called Coffee and a Card Revisited. It will feature the cards we made that morning at coffee and a card as well as any special insights that may have arisen during the class or cards evolved from it. Of course, given my squirrely nature, there also be random Facebook lives and other videos posted both on YouTube and on my Pampered Stamper Facebook page.
