Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today I have another beautiful happy mail in Holland contest card for you and it is an altered Z-fold card. Thanks to Chris Margie for this card and for the instructions on how to make it. That is always appreciated! What I really loved is that she was inspired by the same person that I was for this type of card: Rachel Tessman. You can check out my blog post here for my card last year.
Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am featuring a snowflake swing card made by Ina Eisen. You may remember that we used to have a die to make a circle swing card but it has retired and I am pretty sure that Ina made this card the hard way, without a special die. What a beautiful card! Let’s take a look shall we?
Ina’s Snowflake Swing Card
Here is Ina’s beautiful card with a swinging snowflake as the focal point.
I love how Ina kept the rest of the card simple allowing the glittery snowflake the spotlight. She stamped right on the Snowflake Splendor paper and also used it to make a pretty flap on the envelope. My little person is going to be happy with all the stamps that were on the front of the envelope too!
Here is one more picture showing this pretty snowflake detail.
Here is a link for a tutorial on how to make a swing card. I find Splicoaststampers to be a very useful site for card making inspiration.
Fergus, Ontario
Ina Eisen, the artist behind the card comes from my hometown of Fergus, Ontario. It is always a little difficult for me to pin down my hometown, I really think I have two, Fergus and Elora. I was born in Fergus, went to church and school in Fergus but my address was always Elora and the farm was between Fergus and Elora. So there you have it. Both are beautiful, idyllic towns of Scottish origin with a fair sprinkling of Dutch settlers later on. My grandson is named Fergus in honour of my parents! Rather than share photos, I thought it would be a nice change to share a video instead. Be still my heart!
Thanks!
Thanks so much for joining me again today. If you want to purchase any of the supplies, just click on the images below in the product list. I know you will love Ina’s card and you might just fall in love with Fergus and Elora too. I am of course over the moon happy to be back with Gerard again for a few weeks. Especially during the travel restrictions we know how very blessed we are to be able to be together. I hope to have another happy mail card to blog about on Monday. Have a super day everyone and a fine weekend too. With lots of love from Holland!!
Hello stampers and happy Thursday. That sure feels weird to type “happy Thursday” as I normally don’t blog on Thursdays anymore. However, happy mail in Holland has begun and I want to start sharing these great cards right away. My first happy mail card arrived several days before I came and that sure did make my heart happy!
The First Happy Mail Card
The very first happy mail card comes from Kim Fiore from Hudson, Ohio. Thank you so very much Kim!! Kim used the brand new set Dragonfly Garden that we as demonstrators got to purchase early for our #OnStageAtHome event two weeks ago. Dragonfly Garden will be available to all demonstrators on December 1 and to customers in January 2021. Here is Kim’s card and then I will tell you a little bit about her home town.
I love how Kim stamped her scene on patterned paper and also stamped on her envelope. This is truly happy mail in every respect! It was so nice getting a call from Gerard and a photo message saying your first happy mail has arrived! He gets just as excited about this happy mail as I do and that makes me even happier.
The “Happy” in Happy Mail
One of the things that I like so much about this tradition of “Happy Mail in Holland” is that I hear from people who have been following my work that I don’t even know about! What a wonderful surprise it is to hear the stories. Kim is no exception. She tells me that she has been getting my emails for years and she congratulated me on my 15th anniversary with Stampin’Up! Kim is a fellow demonstrator and her business has also been affected by COVID. I really do hope that when the border opens you can come and visit me and we can have lunch. Hopefully I will be able to do an in person retreat for fellow demonstrators to kick start your business after COVID.
Hudson, Ohio
It’s time to find out a little bit more about Hudson, Ohio. I have driven through Ohio many times on my way to Tennessee and I have stayed in this beautiful state once for a weekend getaway, but Ohio is a big state so I am curious to know more about Hudson.
The first thing I saw when checking out Hudson online was the pretty picture of the town, but then it was a headline that a local firefighter was the first American to receive the Canadian Order of the Red Cross. You can read about it here.
Hudson has a lovely historical downtown and it was also a stop along the Underground Railway helping slaves escape to freedom in Canada. It is a suburb of Akron and home to several universities as well as the Loomis observatory which is the oldest observatory in the States that is still in its original location. I think you are a lucky lady to live in Hudson Kim!
Thanks!
Thanks so much for joining me today. I love how you journey with me by commenting on my blog posts and Facebook posts and participate in my Happy Mail contests. I appreciate the online orders more than you will ever know. Not one order is taken for granted, each one brings me great joy. A special thanks to Kim Fiore for this lovely card!
#itsallaboutthetreats Online Retreat
I am looking forward to baking and crafting with you on December 15. If you order the Heartwarming Hugs suite online then you can participate in this event for free. Are you a demonstrator or do you live somewhere other than Canada? Then you can simply pay $20 and participate in this fun event as well. I will be making a pdf tutorial on the cards and the Christmas baking with some tips and tricks on the packaging and of course the patterns for the boxes. You can sign up here.
I hope you have a super day! Tomorrow I will be back with a beautiful card by Ina Eisen.
Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. Today I am going to show you a super quick and easy card. When you have beautiful paper you can use it as the focal point of your card with just a few embellishments. This is the last card in my Virtual Coffee and a Card class for December. Would you like to see it?
Super Quick and Easy Card
This card was made with the lovely Wonder of the Season paper that is gold and red foil designs with black and red lettering.
All I did for this card is use a base of thick whisper white cardstock, a full card front in real red and then this pretty paper from Wonder of the Season. Finish it off with a pretty ribbon and a brushed metal deer. I fiddled with adding some extra greenery because I first thought it was too simple. In the end I decided that I liked it best just like this. Sometimes less is more.
Adding a Simple Coordinating Gift
We all like to give gifts at Christmas time but it can get cost prohibitive. You can make a simple gift more meaningful and pretty by how you package it. I gave this Lindt chocolate bar to my hairdresser the other day. Truth be told, I was already running late, but I grabbed some of this pretty paper and I found a few embellishments and stamped images laying on my desk and here you have it! The red ribbon is from last year, but that doesn’t matter at all.
In Love Yet?
Have you fallen in love yet with this Wonder of the Season Suite? I hope you can join me every Tuesday in December on my YouTube channel for a live video. If you have the supplies you can craft along with me or you can purchase the card kit for the month for only $25 and it will be shipped to you this week. If you want to see another card for this class you can check out this blog post.
Thanks for joining me! If you want to purchase any of the products and you live in Canada, just click on the links below. Happy shopping and have a super day.
Hello stampers and happy Monday to you! Have you seen those pretty gold hoops in the holiday catalog? You can find them on page 43. Actually, no. There is a card there with a beautiful gold hoop but I just realized that the gold hoops are in the annual catalog on page 156. If you want to make a really special card for someone, then these gold hoops are the ticket.
Pretty Gold Hoops with Acorns
I liked the card in the holiday catalog so much that I didn’t change a thing. Both the gold hoops and the acorns are very high quality, you will want to gift them to a discerning recipient! Actually if you think what you pay for a nice Hallmark card, this is peanuts and so much prettier.
A Few Tips and Tricks
I randomly stamped the sentiment on the card front which is 3 3/4″ by 5″. My grid paper was handy as a guide for spacing but it is not crucial. I adhered the gold hoop with glue dots strategically positioned so they would be hidden under the ribbon and the trees. Two dimensionals were place on the card front where the trees would go. I put Stampin’ Seal+ behind the trees and adhered the ribbon to the trees before attaching them to the dimensionals. The gold twine was threaded through two acorns which were tied together in a knot and then affixed to the trees with another amazing glue dots. Glue dots are small but mighty and an essential part of your card making tool kit.
Prime Time With The Pampered Stamper
We made this card in my private group called Prime Time for short. I created this group to fill the void left by COVID. It gives me an opportunity to do live video tutorials on a regular basis for a small fee of only ten dollars a month. It is more personal than a regular Facebook live and it has extra fun built in with weekly prizes and a monthly pdf tutorial. I hope you join too! You can check out the details here.
Thanks so much for joining me today. I am at my parents celebrating Pap’s 94th birthday. God is so very good. This birthday is a real miracle as Pap has regained his faculties and is no longer on oxygen either. We honestly didn’t think we would be celebrating this birthday. I will be sure to post pictures. Thanks especially for all the love and concern and prayers poured out for him when he was ill. They were heard!!
I hope you have a super day my friends. The next time I will write to you I will be in Holland.
