Hello stampers. I have a fun card for you today that is simply called a Double Point Card. I am using all new supplies from the new catalog to get you all excited for what is coming. That might be a bad idea since it takes your focus off of our Occasions catalog and all the amazing things in our current annual catalog, but we always like sneak peeks don’t we? If your catalog is anything like mine, it is getting a little worn around the edges! I used the Perennial Essence suite for this card. The product that most captured my heart in this suite is definitely the Perennial Essence paper, it is simply stunning!!
Double Point Card
Here you can see what I used to make this card. The picture doesn’t show you the beautiful paper or the coordinating vellum but that will come later! It is really nice that there are two coordinating punches with this stamp set, the new perennial flower punch and our current leaf punch.
Perennial Flower Punch and Leaf Punch
I love the soft colours of this card. The muted tones of the patterned paper are well suited to combining with a vellum flower. Let’s take a look at how I made the points out of the Perennial Essence paper.
Measurements for the Points
The points are just a 3″ by 4″ piece of patterned paper, scored at 1″ along the long side. You then fold the corners down to meet just above the score line. The 1″ by 4″ piece then gets adhered under the 4″ by 5 1/4″ piece of whisper white cardstock (see the video).
These new stitched nested labels are a dream to work with. They pop out of the framelits with ease, absolutely no poking necessary. There are 9 dies in the set.
Floral Centres
Here you can see a closeup of the stitched nested labels. Do you see how pretty the floral essence centers are? (yes, I know I am spelling that word the American way, but if people want to google for them it won’t show up if I spell it the Canadian way)
There are lots of little surprises in this card. You get to lift the stitched nested labels to see this sentiment and then you get to open the actual card to find another one!! Someone will definitely be feeling the love when they get this card from you.
Paper Pumpkin
The sentiment here is from the March Paper Pumpkin that featured the succulents. That kit is totally sold out. Don’t you hate it when you miss out on a fabulous Paper Pumpkin? There is a super easy way to have that not happen. Subscribe and get a monthly delight in the mail. Instant gratification! Just like ordering takeout so that you don’t have to cook and clean up. Next month’s Paper Pumpkin is a very special vintage one designed by Shelli Gardner the cofounder of Stampin’Up! Click here if you are interested.
Clearance Rack
I hope you enjoyed this fun card today. I hope to get the new catalogs in some time in May. Don’t forget to check out the clearance rack for some fabulous deals. Once again, the list of products at the end of my post will be small since most of the products are not yet available. I have to say that one of the things I really enjoy about being a demonstrator is getting my hands on brand new products before anyone else!! At the end of this post is a video showing you how I put the card together. It cuts off at the end because I ran out of space on my phone. There was no way I was going to redo the whole thing and we didn’t miss much at the end.
Hello stampers. Simple stamping is a forgotten pleasure. Sometimes we forget that a simple card can be prettier than a very fancy one. I was busy creating for my Bingo party which I host to introduce my people to all the new products in the upcoming catalogue. These projects need to be simple for several reasons. First of all there are a LOT of people in attendance. Second, it really is all about the Bingo and winning great product prizes. We stamp so that we can use the new products and see the new in-colours in action. I also want new people to be totally comfortable at this event, so I keep it simple. I had a lot of fun creating my simple projects. I find that when the paper is especially beautiful it is even more important to keep the card simple so that the paper really has a chance to shine. The Perennial Essence designer series paper just called for simple stamping. Let’s take a look.
The Perennial Essence suite also comes with gorgeous vellum in three shades: old olive, petal pink and so saffron. It has a coordinating punch so it is easy to make beautiful flowers and the life-like perennial essence floral centres really make the flower pop. Since the paper has such a soft look I felt that it was important that the flower also look soft and that is why I used vellum. I also used an old trick and I dry embossed the vellum flower with a stylus on the paper piercing mat (also known to my people as the foamie). I will share a short video on how to do that tomorrow with a Facebook live video. I stamped the saying in vellum as well so that you get a hint of the pretty paper showing through as well. I think I achieved my objective with this card. Simple, soft and pretty.
For the vellum piece which measures 1 1/2″ by 4″ I adhered it by adding my tape only under the flower and a bit right under “beautiful”. It worked perfectly. You need to be careful when adhering vellum as most adhesive will show and look unsightly.
Here you can see just how pretty that flower is. The perennial essence floral centres really do make all the difference. They already have adhesive on them so they are super easy to put in place. This paper totally reminds me of Monet’s famous paintings. Now remember, use your pretty paper, don’t hoard it! #loveitchopit. One 12 x12 sheet of paper will cut into 6 card front layers each measuring 4″ by 5 1/4″. You can also cut more than one layer at a time. So I cut two strips of 5 1/4″ by 12″ and then cut those into 4″ sections. Easy and fast and ready to turn into cards. Here is a quick and slightly flawed video to show you how I made the flower:
The inside of the card isn’t stamped perfectly, but that’s ok. Then the recipient will know that it was made with love by an equally flawed but loving individual. Embrace your imperfection!
The section of things to buy below is quite small since the stamp set and the paper are new products that won’t be available until June 1, but I wanted to give you a taste of what is coming. If you are the type of person who loves to be the first to get their hands on new product, you might want to consider getting the starter kit. On May 1 there will be a large selection of preorder products that you can put in your kit. As always there is no shipping or tax on the kit and you get a bonus $30 in product, and that is nothing to sneeze at.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a super day! ( I forgot to mention that a LOT of great things have been added to the clearance rack, so be sure to check them out here) If you could also use the current host code, V7NT9B9U, that would make even happier!! Only while supplies last. Happy shopping people.
Hello stampers. Once a month I do this fun class called Sweet Suite Saturday. I do it on a Saturday afternoon at 1pm, usually the last Saturday of the month. The whole idea is to have a super chill, relaxed class that revolves around a beautiful suite of products. Of course there is good food to share as well, hence “Sweet Suite Saturday”. This month it will be featuring Humming Along. If you purchase the bundle the class is free, otherwise it is $25 for four great cards. This blog post is about the last two cards using Humming Along and Brusho. Brusho is a fantastic product that will soon be retiring from our annual catalog. I can’t believe it! I have had so much fun playing and feeling artistic with these vibrant paint crystals. Take a look at what I have made and you might want to get your hands on some Brusho too!
For this card I wanted to use just the leaf stamp to make a background. I inked up the leaf in versamark and then sprinkled with call me clover embossing powder and then embossed with the heat tool. After the embossing was done I spritzed the shimmery white cardstock with water and then sprinkled on yellow Brusho. Then I sprinkled on just a little Prussian Blue Brusho on the outside edges and spritzed the whole thing with water again. Here is the close-up.
The sentiment is also from Humming Along, and I stamped it on whisper white cardstock and cut it out using the stitched shape framelits. The scallop circle is a punch. I added some of our call me clover leaf trim in behind the sentiment (it looks nicer in person).
I have had that flower and hummingbird sitting on my desk for a good long while. They were in the running for my Brusho class and never made it onto a card. I embossed the images in black on watercolour paper and then treated them with Brusho ink crystals. They look great on the background of the Floral Romance specialty designer series paper. This is another great #loveitchopit card. I chopped the leaves paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″ so you get 6 out of one 12″ by 12″ sheet of paper. The wood look paper is a 4″ by 1″ strip. Se keep those scraps and turn them into cards! The sentiment is from Well Said in the Occasions catalog and they are both in blueberry bushel. Here is a closeup:
I just love how the Brusho makes me feel like a “real” artist. So much fun using these paint crystals on either watercolour paper or shimmery white cardstock. With the coordinating framelits it is so very easy to make stunning cards. I made this card into a Mother’s Day card because my mom loves hummingbirds but you could easily turn it into a birthday card or an anniversary or get well card. All these sentiments are available in the Well Said bundle. If you are intrigued by the Brusho, be sure to get them before they are gone. They will not be in the new annual catalog!!
Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you were inspired or at the very least slightly entertained by my ramblings. If you want to purchase any of the products used in my projects just click on the images below and you will be taken directly to my online store. That’s a good thing right? If your list is long you might want to consider the starter kit and save yourself the shipping and the tax and get a bonus $30 in product as well.
Hello stampers. Am I the only one who thinks of their mother when they see hummingbirds? My 87 year old mom loves hummingbirds and she always keeps a nectar feeder stocked for them. A customer tonight who is coming to this class said that my cards reminded her of her mom who died a few years ago. I love Humming Along not only because of the hummingbird but also because it is absolutely fantastic for colouring with Blends or watercolouring. It also comes with some pretty amazing framelits and dies. For my first two cards I was inspired by the catalog and by Artisan Award winner Stesha Bloodhart.
This card was inspired by a card in the Occasions catalog. I changed up the way the sentiment was done. The background is watercolour paper and that interesting design is made using one of the framelits in the bundle. I used an aqua painter to spread some water on the watercolour paper and then I loaded it with balmy blue ink and add colour to the wet area. This helps it spread more naturally to give that amazing artistic watercolour look. I cleaned my aqua painter and then picked up a few drops of smoky slate ink and spattered it on the background by tapping it firmly above the paper. The hummingbird was cut out with a framelit and the Big Shot and was coloured with Blends: balmy blue, mossy meadow and smoky slate. The sentiment was stamped in balmy blue and cut with a framelit from the bundle.
This great card was cased from Stesha Bloodhart. The only thing I did differently was colour with Blends. Stesha watercoloured hers which is also very beautiful. The flower was stamped on shimmer white cardstock and coloured with granny apple green and lovely lipstick blends. The sentiment was embossed in white on black cardstock. For the background I stampedthe sentiment repeatedly in smoky slate. I stamped off for the hummingbird so that it would nice and light.
I still have to make two more cards for this Sweet Suite Saturday class, but I have run out of time so they will be featured in another post. This class will be next week Saturday April 27 at 1pm. You can buy the bundle and make the four cards for FREE or you can pay $25 for the class. Sadly this bundle is retiring, so be sure to get it before the end of May. I wouldn’t wait that long because the possibility of it selling out is high. If you live in Canada, just click on the images below and you will go straight to my online store. If you use the host code in the sidebar I will be most appreciative!! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a super day.
Hello stampers! This month’s Paper Pumpkin was promised to feature a DistINKtive stamp set and it sure does: a beautiful rose and leaf stamp with lots of great sayings. I didn’t even make the cards that came in the kit, I just opened up my set and inked it up and started playing knowing that I was creating cards for my Tuesday coffee and a card class and also knowing that one of the people wanting to come loves vintage. I would consider these Sentimental Rose cards to be fresh vintage. The Sentimental Rose Paper Pumpkin is sure to please. Did you know that next month we already have a sneak peek from OnStage? It is also a vintage set that was designed by Shelli Gardner herself. You are going to want this one for sure. You can just get a one month Paper Pumpkin subscription if you don’t want to subscribe. Let’s take a look and see what I made.
The first card I made was the middle one, using Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz. I also used the Country Floral embossing folder and the Delicate Lace edgelits. The lemon lime twist ombre ribbon is a nice touch and I think for the next cards I made I will do the leaves in that colour to have it all coordinate. I was in a card-making frenzy and didn’t really notice the discrepancy until I looked at my own photo of the cards!!! Crazy squirrel.
When making a vintage style card it is all about the layers and the details. Vintage doesn’t have to mean earthy. You could up the vintage meter by sponging your edges as well. I like this fresh vintage look. Remember, the lemon lime twist colour is retiring so get it before it’s gone!
Oh, how I love navy and white and once again this combination doesn’t disappoint. I used night of navy cardstock, navy gingham ribbon, the country floral embossing folder and stitched label framelits. Now don’t go out and get your eyes checked, I do think this photo is just a smidge out of focus. Time is of the essence so no time for a redo, I know you will forgive me!!
The last card I made uses only the leaf stamp and the congratulations sentiment for a more masculine card. Now whenever I label a card to be masculine does not mean that it would not also be perfect for a woman. Sometimes I wonder why we even bother categorizing a card. Guys like flowers too right? And women like cars, boats, trains, sports….
I really enjoyed inking up this Paper Pumpkin set from April. If you want the May one be sure to subscribe by May 10 at the absolute latest. Shelli Gardner has designed this vintage beauty, even the box is gorgeous.
I hope you enjoyed my alternative samples to this month’s Paper Pumpkin. If you want to see more Paper Pumpkin videos be sure to check out the Paper Pumpkin YouTube channel here. We will be making these cards at coffee and a card class on Tuesday. Let me know if you can come. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a very blessed Easter weekend.
