Flight & Airy

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. Today I am going to share with you a gorgeous card that I made using the Flight & Airy paper. This paper is one of the free saleabration offerings that you can choose from starting on January 4. I have had so much fun playing with it but today I am only going to share one card. If you want to see more, be sure to check out my “shorts” section on my YouTube channel. The video with all the cards will be up on Friday. We will be making ALL of those cards at my Cozy Cabin Winter Retreat from January 2-4 in New Hamburg, Ontario. I still have room for one more person if you are interested!!

Flight & Airy Card

This card is called “Bird’s Eye View”. You will see why, I think!

PDF Tutorial

Tomorrow I hope to write a pdf tutorial for the cards that we will be making at my retreat. When it is finished, I will put in the tutorial section of my blog so you can purchase it there. Are you looking forward to saleabration as much as I am??

In the Air!!

This card is also quite fitting, as I will be in the air tomorrow as well. I’m flying back to Canada for almost four weeks without Gerard. He needs to be in the greenhouse tending to his flowers and bulbs. I am excited to see my mom, my kids and grandkids and of course my team and my customers and my friends. Phew!! I need to take a breath after that long sentence. Besides the retreat I am also offering a Bingo class, both in person and online. As I write this, I realize that I have not marketed that enough yet, it only went into one newsletter!! Life is busy, especially at this time of the year.

I hope to see you while I’m in Canada, either at the retreat, in a class or in a Zoom class! Hugs from Holland and Happy New Year if I don’t get a chance to blog again before that. Thanks for being here.

Watercolouring Tips with Joy of Noel

Hello stampers! Today I want to share a fun little  watercolouring tip.  It really is amazing what one small change can do when you are watercolouring. I used the gorgeous Joy of Noel stamp set which is sadly retiring. Get it before it’s gone!!

What’s the watercolouring tip??

You are probably most curious as to what the tip is for improving your watercolouring. I like to press the ink pad onto a clear acrylic block and then pick up the colour with a Water Painter. To add more depth of colour add a little more colour using one of our Stampin’ Write Markers!

It’s that simple. If you add just a little colour with the marker and then blend it in with the Water Painter, you get an amazing depth of colour. Try it and see!!

Joy Of Noel Cards

The card below was cased from the talented Angela Meiritz-Reed from New Zealand. I love the Granny Apple Green and Garden Green together.

Watercolour tip with the Joy of Noel stamp set, markers, ink pads and water painters from Stampin'Up!

I do not consider myself an artist per se. I am creative, but I don’t really paint. That is why it was a revelation to me to layer two different colours of green on one leaf. How beautiful! How elemental. Definitely not rocket science, but it was for me. It made me happy and that is what counts. I have never taken an art lesson, so this was a lovely discovery. Perhaps it is new to you too! Enjoy. Have fun. That’s what really matters.

Video Tutorial

Of course, I made this little video to show you this little watercolouring tip in action. Seeing is believing! This is a short video, so you only need to invest a minute to learn the trick.

The Sketch

I find it helpful to have a diagram where I can see where the cutting lines are and where the score lines are. Measurements are helpful too!

The Cards

I made the card in two different variations, one in Very Vanilla and one in Petal Pink. Let’s take a look. (I do have to say, this type of card is very difficult to photograph well!)

Magic Meadow Dies with Pearlized Enamel Accents

Hello stampers and happy Tuesday to you! Today I have some cards for you that I made using the Magic Meadow dies. Combined with the Pearlized Enamel Effects, you get a stunning result. If you love embellishments and you don’t have a huge budget, these Pearlized Enamel Effects are for you. You can get them in either basic, which is red, black and white pearl, or in metallics, which is copper, gold and silver. In Canada they are about $22 for three bottles. I’m guessing that they probably make at least a thousand pearl-like embellishments.

Magical Meadow sprig dies with pearlized enamel effects as focal point to a winter card, all supplies Stampin'Up!

The saying that I used inside the card comes from Night Divine which is lovely all by itself, but exquisite with the coordinating dies! They are on the retiring list so get them before they’re gone!!
