Wild About Animal Outing

Hello stampers! I am finally inking up the Animal Outing stamp set that we received at OnStage in April. I was waiting for the paper sale to order the fun Animal Expedition paper so that I could play with them together and I also had to order the matching framelits. Well, what a wonderful trio that is! I am sure you could imagine my excitement when I realized that the framelits cut out some of the images from the paper. I  really think they should make a bigger deal about that. Are there any Harry Potter fans out there? Well, imagine the interactive newspaper with the moving pictures or even better, talking pictures! I picture opening the catalog to page 190 and hearing, “yay, the framelits cut out the hippo and the giraffe and the kangaroo and the frog on the branch!!! Whoohoooo.”  So yes, I am indeed wild about Animal Outing. There is even a saying in there that says “wild about you”. This would be great for a kid but also for that special person in your life! Take a look at what I did. Edited to add:  my team member Liz Fields whose nickname from her daughter is “Sloth” and therefore is up on all things sloth, pointed out that my sloth is upside down. Duh!!!! I knew that sloths hang upside down from trees! Look at my bird? He must be drunk on berries because he is upside down now. Too funny. I will have to fix this before my card class.

recessed panel card keeps the patterned paper from being too overwhelming and adds visual interest.

I love this bright and cheerful card in berry burst and call me clover. The recessed panel stops the patterned paper from being overwhelming and also adds visual interest. The card is made from thick whisper white cardstock over which I layered a 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ piece of patterned paper. The 1″ by 5 1/2″ and 2″ by 5 1/2″ strips of berry burst have an edge of call me clover for contrast. These panels are both popped up using dimensionals. The sloth is cut out with an oval framelit and mounted on a scalloped oval framelit also cut out from the Animal Expedition paper. This paper is part of the buy three get one free sale on till the end of July.

Let the framelits do all the work for this quick and easy card.

This card took me about five minutes to make. The shaded spruce layer is 3 3/4″ by 5″ and was embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder. The giraffe and the frog on the branch are both cut out with framelits and then pieced together again. I used the Stamparatus to stamp the words so that if they weren’t dark enough I could easily stamp again. If you haven’t used this amazing tool yet, check out this video from Stampin’Up.

Animal Outing combines with Tropical Chic for this fun card.

This last card combines the very fun and fresh Tropical Chic framelits with the Animal Outing stamp set and the Animal Expedition paper. The giraffe and the frog on the branch were stamped and cut out with framelits and the hippo is cut from the paper with a framelit. the foliage framelit is amazing and is from the Tropical Chic suite. I didn’t even need a precision plate and the pieces fell right out, so this one is a real pleasure to use.

As you know, there is an amazing deal on right now with the starter kit. You can get ten free ink pads with the purchase of this kit. You pay only $135, but you get to choose $165 worth of product and you get the ink pads. Wow!!! Yes, you can do this even if you have no plans to ever sell a thing. No guilt either. Stampin’Up! is well aware of all the different motivations to buy their kit and the truth is that most of the successful demonstrators had no plans to sell either. So I say, go for it. Spoil yourself and get an amazing deal on beautiful products. If you live in Canada, I would LOVE to have you join my team. I still need team members from Quebec, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. All other provinces are represented but I’ll still welcome you if you are from the West! Here is the link to sign up.

If you want to take advantage of the paper sale, please do use the current host code and I will send you one of these great cards in the mail. Did you know that if you click on the images below at the end of my post it will take you straight to my online store? So easy to shop and get it delivered straight to your door.

This will be the last blog post for probably two weeks. Tomorrow evening I go to Detroit as I fly out very early Friday morning to go to Seattle and then on a cruise to Alaska. Thanks to all of you who made that possible, my heart is full of gratitude. My son Oliver is coming with me and he will be celebrating his 22nd birthday while we’re gone, so that makes it even more special. When I signed up as a demonstrator in the fall of 2005 I had no idea that this would be such a successful and rewarding journey for me. You just never know where that first box of products will take you. My upline also quit after my first year so for almost all of my Stampin’Up journey I have had no team support, no upline, no monthly meetings or anything like that. All you need is a dream and then a vision and hard work but fun work to make it happen. I am looking forward to the next adventures in this stamping journey.

Petal Promenade Meets Wonderful Moments

Hello stampers. I just love pretty paper. Real magic happens when you combine pretty paper with a beautiful stamp set. It just makes creating so easy and so fun. When I get caught up in making these projects for my blog I really can’t imagine calling anything else my job. I so very much love what I do! The paper that I am talking about is called Petal Promenade and the stamp set is Wonderful Moments.

Now I have a confession to make. I used to case about 95% of the cards that I made. I thought it was easier than coming up with my own designs. Why reinvent the wheel I thought. I still do like to case. When I see a beautiful card out there it makes me happy to recreate it. But I have discovered when I started this blog and I wanted to only share original work, or at least primarily original work, that there is joy in playing. When you spread out your pretty paper over the table and gather ink pads and stamp sets the magic happens and creativity flows. That is why you very rarely see only one card in my blog posts. It does make it an epic project and that is why there is not a daily blog. I hope that is ok with you. Well, enough rambling, let’s see what I made with Petal Promenade paper (which is part of the paper sale by the way) and with Wonderful Moments.

Beautiful Petal Promenade paper that is part of the buy three get one free paper sale until July 31.

These cards all use the Petal Promenade designer series paper that is part of the buy three get one free paper sale until July 31. I love gardening and flowers so this paper just makes my heart sing. It really doesn’t need much to embellish it so I used Blends to colour the images from Wonderful Moments and added some pearlized doilies and metallic thread to two of them and some laser cut paper to the third card. We will make these three cards at coffee and a card class this coming Tuesday at my studio at 10am. Place an online order with me and you will get one of these in the mail!

Beautiful You also works well with Petal Promenade paper

I realize that not everyone needs a wedding card, so you can easily interchange the image with one from Beautiful You. I did use a retired colour, Sweet Sugarplum with this paper because it matched so well with the paper. The rose metallic thread is barely visible here but in real life it is stunning. Adds just the right touch.

I used Rich Razzleberry and Pink Pirouette Blends to colour the images from Beautiful You.

Here is the original card that I made using Wonderful Moments. I totally cased this one from the Demonstrator Planning Place on Facebook. Thanks so much to Debby Donovan.

Thanks to Debby Donovan whose card I cased to make this one.

Have you fallen in love with Petal Promenade paper yet? Trust me, you will!

Easel card using Wonderful Moments and Petal Promenade.

For this card I used petal pink and soft sea foam cardstock on a very vanilla base. I tucked a strip of the delicate details laser cut paper in behind the patterned paper strip. A petal pink rhinestone gem holds the easel card in place. Elegant simplicity.

Pearlized doily and silver metallic thread combine with Petal Promenade paper and Wonderful Moments stamp set.

Take note of the pearlized doily. I sponged the plain side with petal pink to match the cardstock. I did this overtop of a whisper white card front so that I could use the sponged design left behind on another card. Frugality of time and product!

Paper piecing for the dress from Wonderful Moments using Petal Promenade paper.

I really am quite pleased with the way this card turned out. I stamped the girl on Petal Promenade paper so that I could paper piece her dress. I used Blends to colour the balloons:  calypso coral, dark pink pirouette and light pink pirouette. the saying is from Beautiful You. The sponging is done with Petal Pink.

Petal Promenade and Delicate Details laser cut paper combine with Wonderful Moments for this pretty card.

One of the designs of the paper in Petal Promenade has a strip of floral design that I fussy cut for the top of this card. It wasn’t too bad and I think it looks really pretty. I used wink of stella on the dress. The bride is stamped right on the patterned paper and coloured with Blends.

There is so much more I could do with this paper, but I had to draw the line somewhere! If you would like to order online with me, that would make me very happy. Just click on any of the images below and it will take you straight to my store. Only available in Canada and only if you don’t already have a demonstrator. If you would be so kind as to use the host code that would be even better!

Don’t forget about the amazing paper sale that is going on now until the end of July. So many lovely papers included in this sale including Petal Promenade. The other great deal is getting an entire colour family of ink pads for free with the starter kit. You can even get both sets of incolour ink pads as a choice. I am so excited for this opportunity for you. Watch the video and I will clear up any misconceptions you may have.

Finally, here is a video of my cleaned up stamp room just in case you want to see my happy space. This is where all my classes are held, where I post my blog and my Facebook posts and my newsletter. I practically live in this room!! Have a super day and give some serious thought to getting those ten ink pads for free.

Springtime Impressions

Hello stampers. We are in the middle of a heatwave, so it is perfect weather for being inside working in my stamp room. Yesterday we used the Springtime Impressions framelits at coffee and a card and the ladies especially loved that you can use them both as a stencil and as an embellishment. We had used only the “corner floral” framelit, but today I made a card using the butterfly and the little flower. I am so very pleased with how it turned out. The surprise element was using the Tranquil Textures sprinkles in a strip along the bottom of the front panel. Take a look. Can you guess how I did that?

Tranquil Textures sprinkles add a nice touch to this Butterfly card using Springtime Expressions thinlets

Both the subtle designer series paper (which is on sale this month by the way, but three packs, get one free and you get to mix and match) and the sprinkles are from the Tranquil Textures Suite. Normally sprinkles like this would be used to make shaker cards, but I wanted to add a strip at the bottom of my card similar to the look of ribbon but with more texture. In the past I used a retired product called Sticky Strip to do this, but now I used our tear and tape and it worked great. I laid the card front in an empty stamp case with the tape already adhered and exposed and I poured on the sprinkles and pressed them down firmly. Voila! It worked perfectly and I really like the look of it. The butterfly, the mat and the sentiment are all in Blueberry Bushel. the card base is Soft Sea Foam. The saying is from the stamp set Enjoy Life.

This is an easel fold card, so simple to make and yet it looks very impressive. All it is is one extra score mark at the 2 3/4″ mark, then do a mountain fold. You then need a “bump” to hold it in place, so I used the flower framelit, put a gem in the middle hiding the mini dimensional underneath. There is a little surprise hiding behind the flower when you open the card!

I cut the butterfly out of acetate for a reusable stencil.

I used the butterfly framelit from Springtime Impressions with acetate. In Stampin’Up! lingo this is a window sheet. This way I have a reusable stencil and I keep it in the case with the framelits so I don’t lose it. I sponged with soft sea foam. The next few cards use the floral framelit from this bundle.

Use sponge daubers to colour your creation from Springtime Impressions framelits

I just love how big this framelit is! Makes it so easy to colour with sponge daubers. I used highland heather, so saffron, pear pizzazz, calypso coral and petal pink. In the next card you can see that you can see that all the parts were used. I used the “cut out” as a stencil and then I used the negative part and put it back on the card to cover up the sponging outside the lines.

I love the soft look of the sponged stencil using Springtime Impressions framelits. Looks great with or without the ribbon.

I wanted to show you how it looks with or without the ribbon. Both are pretty don’t you think? The sentiment on the left is from Dandelion Wishes and the one on the right is from Wonderful Moments.

Using the negative of the cut out from Springtime Impressions framelits to give the card a totally different look.

This card uses the actual cut out from Springtime Impressions paired with the subtle paper from Petal Promenade. I silver embossed the sentiment which is from the host set Very Vintage.

Very Vintage silver embossed sentiment paired with Petal Promenade paper and Springtime Impressions framelits

I wanted to see what would happen if I sponged the cut out with Versamark and then silver embossed. I didn’t want to be wasteful, so I wanted to use the negative image as well. I used spray adhesive so that it wouldn’t move around and I placed it on a smoky slate card. Then I used the direct to paper technique with Versamark and then I silver embossed both the card and the cut out.

Luscious embossing for a wedding card using Springtime Impressions

I love the subtle simplicity and beauty of this card, perfect for a wedding. I wanted to see if I could double emboss, so on the next card which was totally embossed in silver first, I stamped the bride in versamark and then embossed with lovely lipstick embossing powder. It worked! And yes, we now have embossing powders in all the new in-colours, how awesome is that?

Lovely Lipstick embossed on silver with Springtime Impressions framelits

Well, I think I have given you lots of ideas with the Springtime Impressions framelits and I haven’t even used the matching stamp set (only because I don’t have it yet!!) Here is a simple video that I made so you can see how I made some of the cards featured in this blog post. As always, I love hearing from you, so please leave a comment below. If you live in Canada and would like to order from me, that would be fantastic of course. Please use the host code and then I will send you one of these cards in the mail.

Not sure why my watermark is on the host code, but it is a hot summer day and I am simply too lazy to go back and edit it out. I also figure that putting the host code in like this makes it more obvious than simply having it available for you in the sidebar. What do you think? Anyways, have a super day, stay cool and share the love today and send someone a card. Here is a screen shot of the paper that is on sale, remember you can always do a half pack if you want, just let me know.

Very Vintage Free for Hosts

Hello stampers. Have you ever noticed the host sets in the back of the catalog? Do you know why Stampin’Up! even offers them? Perhaps you have even tried to add one to your order only to experience frustration. You see, you cannot buy these host sets, you can only earn them as a host. When you host a qualifying workshop with orders totalling $200, then you get 10% of the total orders in free merchandise. Your best value is in the host sets as they are offered at a much lower price than their actual value. Host sets are there to entice you to host a workshop. I am in love with several of the host sets this year, especially the vintage ones. Very Vintage is one of them and Pressed Flowers is another. Take a look at what I have made with them.

Using the lace stamp and the insect make an easy collage by repeatedly stamping these images in the same colour ink.

You will notice that both of these cards have the same layout. The one on the left uses Fresh Fig and copper embossing for the filigree and for the winged creature (we’re not sure if it’s a fly or a wasp, but it has been decided that it is not a butterfly!) The one on the right uses Blueberry Bushel and has the insects fussy cut. Both have the addition of a few wee pearls which is just perfect for vintage cards. I also sponged the edges of the whisper white panels which measure 3 5/8″ by 4 7/8″. This will enable you to get five card fronts from one sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 card stock which makes my Dutch heart happy. I say  Dutch even though I am 100% Canadian. My parents immigrated from the Netherlands on their honeymoon, so most of my relatives are still there and every time I visit I do feel like my heart is coming home.

Here is a closeup of the fresh fig vintage card. By the way, the ruffled ribbon is to die for, so scrumptious and soft, it really does pop your card over the top and it doesn’t fray so you can just cut it to size and not have to tuck it under the sides. The band with the filigree stamping is approximately 5/8″ by 3 5/8″ and is also sponged lightly.

It's all in the details with a vintage card and our coordinating ribbon is beautiful for the job.

In September I will once again be offering a Vintage Club which will be totally dedicated to making vintage cards. I must admit it is one of my favourite styles. Totally different from clean and simple which is also wonderful and very popular right now. The next cards use the floral bouquet from the Very Vintage set.

Monochromatic simplicity for pure elegance.

Once again a similar layout for the two cards, the one on the right is in Blueberry Bushel with the addition of a sponged pearlized doily (sponge on the plain side, the ink adheres better). There is also corduroy ribbon. The one on the right is actually Grey Granite even though it looks more like a soft suede. There is a punch that coordinates with the “You’re a blessing” square. It is found in the very beautiful gift tin set called Darling Label Punch Box. The ribbon is also exquisite, so soft and easy to use.

I am going to use the card on the left as my swap card on the Alaskan Cruise in a few weeks. I have to say it is one of the perks I enjoy the most with my job as a  Stampin’Up! demonstrator. They spoil us so much on these trips with pillow gifts every night, a hospitality suite with yummy treats and spin to win prizes every day as well as beautiful display boards to inspire us. When I first joined Stampin’Up! I had no idea that I would ever do so well that I would be going on these amazing trips every year. I was just thrilled to get a discount on my products, to share what I love with my friends and family and to be able to go to Stampin’Up! events. Now it has become who I am and I couldn’t imagine my life without it. Here is a close-up of my cruise swap card, it really is my favourite one of them all and it was inspired by one of my Facebook followers who cased my gray granite card and used blueberry bushel as well as a doily. Thanks so much Molly Sanders.

Collage stamping with Very Vintage in Blueberry Bushel.

When I first joined 12 years ago I missed a big incentive to join by only one month. In August there was an offer that you could get an entire family of ink pads for free as  a signing bonus. No one told me about it, but in September I decided I wanted to be a demonstrator and there was no extra incentive at all. Imagine my delight to see that they are doing that same offer again. You will have no excuse, because I am telling you about it! If you join and get the starter kit in July, you get to choose one family of ink pads. That’s ten gorgeous, new style ink pads for free! Let me know if you want to join my team, the only requirement is that you have to live in Canada. The starter kit is already a great deal at $135. You get to choose $165 of any products of your choice and you pay no shipping or tax.

Get a free colour family of ink pads if you get the starter kit in July 2018.

Ok, back to the cards. I also made some vintage cards using the host set Pressed Flowers. One used old olive, gorgeous grape and whisper white and I softened the other one up a bit and used very vanilla, soft sea foam and whisper white. I inked up the retired organza ribbon with a sponge and ink pad (I will share the video of how to do that) Which one do you like best?

Pressed Flowers is also great for Collage stamping and a great vintage look.

One note of caution. Be sure to let the ribbon dry for a few hours before finishing up your card. I had inky fingers and smudged the bottom of the soft seafoam layer, a bit of a bummer but someone will still get this pretty card and most likely won’t even notice the minor flaw. If they do, they will just smile and realize that the creator is also human! The sentiments on both of these cards come from the stamp set Detailed With Love. I stamped the background with only three images from the Pressed Flowers: the burlap strip repeatedly with soft sea foam first, then the leaves in old olive and then the little flower in gorgeous grape. The little dots were borrowed from the set Timeless Textures. After I stamped the background I stamped the flowers in versamark and intended to emboss in copper, but instead it was early espresso. I would have preferred the copper, but no time for a do-over.  The doily on the  right was sponged with gorgeous grape on the plain side, the ink will not stay on the pearlized finish.

The last card is not really vintage but I do love the look of it. I cased a swap card that my team member Amy Dumoulin-Jeromel received and I do not know who made it, but it was lovely. The flowers are embossed with white on black card stock and then coloured with Blends. I used rich razzleberry, old olive and dark pink pirouette.

Colours really pop when you emboss in white on black cardstock and then colour with Blends.

I made this particular card in a bit of a rush during class so I forgot to use the embossing buddy and you will see tiny specks of white on the background. The embossing buddy really does make a difference, especially on dark card stock. It gets rid of static and of hand oils so that the embossing powder only sticks to the versamark from the stamped image. It is a handy tool to have in your arsenal.

Well, I hope these cards have inspired you to host a workshop or join a club so that you can get these great host sets. If you live far away from me, I plan to offer a long distance stamp club as well as a monthly draw for people who order online from me using the host code. The current host code is alway on the side panel of the blog. Here is the video of how I made one of these vintage cards:

I also did a little video showing how I inked up the ribbon. This is a fantastic way to get coordinating ribbon for ALL of our colours.

Finally, here is the video I did on the Delft Blue vintage card that will be my swap card for the Alaskan Cruise incentive trip in July. Feel free to case, but don’t use it for your swap card if you are going on this trip.

The Easiest Cards Ever

Hello stampers. I am still alive!! I think it has been almost a month since I have posted here and while that is highly unfortunate, I know that you all understand that sometimes life happens, and that is why we need easy cards that are still beautiful. I think by the end of this post, or maybe in the middle already, you will agree that these cards fit the bill. I am sure you will also agree that after going through the new catalog several times, you will most likely still overlook some hidden gems. Did you see the new Memories and More cards and envelopes? Well go to page 194 and look at the bottom left hand corner. I am thrilled to share with you that Stampin’Up! has made cards and envelopes that perfectly fit the Memories and More cards that can be used for scrapbooking but also for card making. And now there is no more trimming!! They fit perfectly. No cutting, no scoring, just fun!! Seriously I made and designed these twenty cards in about two hours. You will be able to make them in less time since you don’t have to come up with your own designs. They truly are the easiest cards ever! Check it out:

Super easy, super fun cards using Delightfully Detailed Memories and More card pack with coordinating cards and envelopes.

Can you believe that there is absolutely no stamping on any of these cards? There are two of each card in the Memories and More card pack and the laser cut ones on the two cards on the far left are white on one side and either black or blackberry bliss on the other side. The card pack also comes with stickers. The word “thanks” is a sticker, the “congratulations” sentiment is also a sticker as well as the three embellishments on the “let’s celebrate today” card. Can we say “easiest cards ever” together?!

Mint macaron, grapefruit grove and blackberry bliss and the colours used in this card collection.

Once again, there is no stamping on this batch of cards. I did use the oval thinlets to trim the “let’s celebrate today” and I added the thick bakers twine from the Nature’s Poem suite as well as the Share What You Love artisan pearls. The last batch of cards does involve some simple stamping. Honestly, when life gets busy and you come across amazing products like this that make it so easy to make beautiful cards, it is a very good day indeed.

The beautiful artwork from the stamp set Wonderful Moments pairs very well with the Delightfully Detailed Memories and More card pack to make these simple but stunning cards.

The only stamping done on these last three cards are a simple line image from the stunning stamp set Wonderful Moments. The twine you see in the picture here is what is left over after making twenty cards. I will be offering this as a class on Thursday July 18 at 10am and 7pm. The cost is only $60 and it includes the package of twine, ten 4×6 whisper thick white cards and envelopes and ten 3×4 thick white cards and envelopes, and a fifty card Delightfully Detailed Memories and More pack. If you choose to order these supplies online using the host code, then I will send you the pretty Artisan pearls. Now I have done some counting and it appears that I am missing some cards!! I went back to my stamp room, and yes indeed, there is one more batch so that the total of amazing cards is exactly twenty. You will still have left over twine and lots of memories and more cards to either make scrapbook pages or more cards. This really is an amazing value!

One more card using the Wonderful Moments stamp set, the rest involve no stamping at all!!

I would love to hear what you think about these cards! I may even be inspired to make some scrapbook pages with the leftover cards if I can find some time to do so. If you would like to have a card making party at my studio with your friends, let me know and I will order the supplies, you bring the wine and I will provide the fun. You will not only get a fun night out with your friends but you will go home with a ton of great cards. Have you checked out Hallmark lately? $7 plus tax for a card is not unusual. That would make this class worth $140!!

Finally, here is a quick YouTube video showing this great bunch of easiest cards ever.
