Stitched Triangle Card

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. I had a wonderful start to my day with a package of happy mail including this gorgeous stitched triangle card. Susan sent these cards to give to the Chatham-Kent Hospice. They send cards to families on the one year anniversary of their loved one’s death. I love Susan’s cards so much that I am going to share a few of them on my blog for you to enjoy.

Stitched Triangle Card

Susan used the Hydrangea Hill Mercury Glass designer acetate layered over the Love You Always  foil sheets to make this stitched triangle card. I just caved and ordered these stitched triangle dies!

Here is a close up so you can see the amazing detail of this card. Susan used the Stitched Nested Label dies for the sentiment. Wow!!!

If you would like to see another card made with the stitched nested labels, check out this blog post.

Friends are Like Seashells

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Today I am sharing a lovely card using Friends are Like Seashells. What a beautiful suite of products this is! It will be the focus of my next Parcels in the Post.

Friends are Like Seashells

I love walking along the beach and I am always on the hunt for pretty shells. Nice ones are often hard to find, you need to be persistent and watchful. This is just like friends! The older you get the more you realize how important true friendship is and the more you value your good friends. You also realize that sometimes friends can show up in unexpected places and times in your life. Before I wax too philosophical, let’s take a look at my card.

Friends are Like Seashells

When I made this card I discovered that the large die cuts out the embossed images from the embossing folder. What a great feature!! The other discovery was that the pearlescent paper embosses like a dream AND you can sponge colour on it for very realistic looking shells. I made this card again with just a few embellishments and I really like it that way too. I played around with a sheer pool party bow but did not like that look as much.

Stamping on Watercolour Paper

I have one piece of important advice when stamping on watercolour paper. Use your stamparatus!! Watercolour paper is quite porous and rough so you need to put on several layers of ink to really make your sentiment pop. I used early espresso and stamped three times with the stamparatus.

Colour Wash Advice

Making a colour wash background seems very simple, but it is also very easy to get wrong. Let me show you!!

Do you know what I did wrong here? I did wet my watercolour paper first but then I added a few drops of reinker and there still wasn’t enough water to make it “wash”. Instead it soaked into the watercolour paper and I wasn’t able to dilute it and move it around.

The solution? Really, really wet your watercolour paper on both sides. Then dilute your reinker with a bit of water with your water brush and add it to the wet paper with the brush.

I hope it makes you feel better that I also have things that totally bomb! If you don’t play and experiment, you don’t learn and you will never fail. Failure is a stepping stone to success and discovery.

Be sure to check out the product list at the bottom of this blog post. If you click on the images you will see them in my online store and then you can see all the wonderful sayings that come with this stamp set too.

Thanks!

Sending Love Your Way

Hello stampers and happy Wednesday to you. Today my theme is Sending Love Your Way. Valentine’s Day has come and gone, and Family Day was two days ago here in Canada. On my desk are the cutest “Sending Love Your Way” boxes that my mom made for the grandkids. Oops! That’s right, I was supposed to hand them out on Monday but I had hurt my back on Friday night and was not thinking straight. It’s a good thing that we can send love any day of the year!

Making It Easy

My dear mom is 88 and quite truthfully although she is a very talented and crafty person, she has not done much papercrafting over the years. She is an expert seamstress, knitter, crocheter and gardener. She can also draw much better than I can but she only ever sketches on old envelopes or note pads with advertising on them. That is why I love bringing a Paper Pumpkin with me when I visit her. The last time I was there she had made these little boxes.

The reason I am sharing them with you today is two fold. One, I am still in a fair bit of pain so I really need to take it easy and not go crazy hauling out stamp sets and making a new card. I did start that process because I am itching to ink up the Friends are Like Seashells bundle. Two, I am super excited about the Paper Pumpkin possibilities. Paper Pumpkin is instant gratification in your mailbox and a great way for you to share what you love.

The truth is that a lot of people are looking for a meaningful hobby. Especially during Covid, it has been so good to have a healthy distraction from the vicissitudes of life. Stamping brings double joy, to the stamper and to the recipient of the stamped projects. The March Paper Pumpkin also has a bonus in it because it is the anniversary edition which always has a bonus gift. This time it is four stencils and a full size sponge which I always cut into wedges. Did you know that you can get at least eight sponge wedges out of one sponge?

Here is the link if you live in Canada and want to subscribe. You can also get a three month prepaid subscription and then you qualify for a free saleabration item. That is what I would recommend of course. I am all about getting you the most bang for your buck!

Paper, Ribbon and Ink

Hello stampers and happy Friday to you. Paper, ribbon and ink. It really is amazing what you can do when you combine some coordinating paper, ribbon and ink. I like it even better when the combination is a surprising one. Today we will see when we combine some Flowers for Every Season Memories & More cards and envelopes with in colour inks and ribbon AND the beautiful Flower & Field designer series paper that is free with a $60 saleabration purchase.

Paper, Ribbon and Ink

Did you notice that I didn’t mention cardstock? That’s right. No cardstock needed because the Memories & More cards are already the perfect card base for you. This is instant gratification at its best. Just cut your Field & Flower paper to 3″ by 4″ and mix and match them how you like. Huge thanks to Michele Jutrisa for her inspiration for these cards. You can see her blog post here.

For the sentiment I used the new double oval punch, the hostess set Punch Party and the everyday label punch. The oval punches were layered over top of a vellum everyday label punched out. A loop of in colour ribbon was adhered under the vellum and popped up with dimensionals.

Paper, Ribbon and Ink

Here are a few closeups so you can see the detail in the punches. They are very unforgiving!! You can see the little ink smears but do keep in mind that I made these cards during a Facebook live with a camera between me and my work! They still look great I think.

For the last two I used the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch which also coordinates with the Punch Party stamp set. This stamp set is free when you have a $375 workshop or order. Here is another favourite of mine using the Flower & Field paper.

Field & Flower Card Kit by Mail

I forgot to add in here that you can get a five card kit by mail in Canada for only $15 including postage. Let me know if you want one!

Parcels in the Post

My next Parcel in the Post is ready. There are still two left over from January which featured the Love You Always suite. This month the theme is Art Gallery. The parcels are $32 which includes shipping anywhere in Canada. They contain an assortment of products that will save you money and jump start your creativity. The pictures tell the story!

My preferred payment for the Parcels in the Post is etransfer to [email protected]. If that doesn’t work for you, message me and we will figure something out.

Thanks!

You may have noticed that there was no blog post on Wednesday. I spent a couple of days with my parents again and they are my priority then. I did get some stamping time in with my mom and it is gratifying how much she loves it. She made some cards for the grandkids and great grandkids as well as some cute boxes with the Paper Pumpkin addon. The snails were right up her alley. “Deze slakjes zijn zo leuk” is what she said. Translation:  those snails are so cute!

Paper Pumpkin

If you subscribe to Paper Pumpkin I am going to make a shocking suggestion. Stop or suspend your subscription. You can choose to skip a few months if you like.  Then you can purchase a three month prepaid subscription and get a free saleabration item, the Flower and Field paper or the Darling Donkeys set. After the three months are up you can resume your subscription. Anyways, I digress. I was trying to say thank you for joining me today. I hope you have a super day!

Heal Your Heart Arrow Fold Card

Hello stampers and happy Monday to you. Today’s card is a Heal Your Heart Arrow Fold card. Heal Your Heart is a beautiful stamp set that you can get for free during saleabration which only goes until February 28. Both the sayings and the font of this set are really lovely. The arrow fold card is also surprisingly easy to make and ever so rewarding. Let’s take a look.

Arrow Fold Card

I made an arrow fold card twice. Do you know why? The first time, and the second time if I am being honest, I cut the paper the wrong way!! I am sometimes spatially challenged and the paper I was using was definitely one-directional so yes, I was in a bit of trouble. However, the other side of the paper was a very forgiving polka dot so all was well in the end. Both cards are quite lovely I think. One will go to someone going through a rough patch and the other one will go to my newest team member.

Thanks to Karen Duke for inspiring me to make this card. It caught my eye when Genevieve Ko shared it on Facebook. She had received it from Karen in a card swap.

Arrow Fold Tutorial

I am planning to do a video tutorial on this arrow fold card in my Prime Time With The Pampered Stamper group. Have you heard about this group? Would you like to join and get some great perks? Then read about it here and hopefully you will join me this Thursday at 3pm EST. Each Wednesday I post the list of supplies and the measurements of the card that I will be making on Thursday.

Would you like to see more cards made with the Flower & Field paper? Check out this blog post here.

Do You Live in Canada?

If you live in Canada, you could join us for our Fab Four event on February 26 at 7pm EST. Four demonstrators will join together to make four different cards using saleabration products. For only $25 you will get your kit mailed to you anywhere in Canada. The video tutorials will be posted in the event group on Facebook and there will be a live Zoom gathering to do the door prizes and just chat about the cards and saleabration. Here is the link to the event.

Have You Placed Your Saleabration Order Yet?

I have noticed that some people are missing out on some free products, so I thought I would share a few important facts that I perhaps take for granted.

  1. You get a free saleabration product from the small saleabration brochure with EACH $60 purchase. There are two items that are free with a $120 purchase. A Touch of Ink and Berry Blessings are the “level 2” free items.
  2. If you spend $120 you get TWO free items OR one level two item. My advice is that if you are at $110 you may as well get a package of cardstock or a Stampin’ Seal adhesive which you will probably need in a few weeks anyway. Maximize your freebies!
  3. If you spend $200 you qualify for host rewards. You can use those rewards on exclusive host products found at the back of the catalog starting at page 187.
  4. During saleabration which ends on February 28 you can also get a free stamp set called Punch Party with a $375 order.
  5. The best deal in the catalog is always the starter kit. You do NOT have to sell or demonstrate to get this kit. It entitles you to a 20% discount on your future purchases. This discount will be yours until the end of July regardless of how little you spend. You have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose. Here is the link if you want this amazing deal. You must be a Canadian citizen to do so.

Thanks!

Thanks for joining me today. I hope that you are keeping well. I think there might be light at the end of this COVID tunnel. Stamping has definitely kept me sane. Have a super day and stay warm. I woke up to -15C temperatures today!
